They also give complimentary chips and salsa, but heads up, the salsa has a solid kick (perfect if you like spice like I do). Service was great and the food came out really fast, within about 5 minutes. It's been a journey to find good tacos in Sac and I think we found something that I could come back to. Their al pastor was crispy and I love the pineapple they add. Their fish was solid but I wasn't impressed with their slaw. Their chicken was so good! What I wasn't impressed with was their quesadilla suiza. I didn't know what type of cheese they used but it was awful. Couldn't finish it. Their service was lovely and ambiance was a vibe. I would say try it. read more

First of all - thank you to Jessica who provided us with amazing service at the counter. We ordered 4 tacos Al pastor, 4 tacos de carnitas, pozole and a carne asada burrito. The Al pastor tacos were amazing - the pineapple really added a lot. The carnitas were salty and overfried, making it a bit dry and unenjoyable. The pozole was a minuscule portion for the $15; considering the ingredients of a pozole I was really surprised how little they gave for how much one pays. Tasted good but lower the price or increase portion size. The carne asada burrito was really good. I think burritos might be where the value is at for this place. Overall place seems a bit expensive for what you get. I'll be back to give another try but primarily because Jessica left a very positive impression and gave great service! read more

My partner was in the mood for some tacos since it was Taco Tuesday we decided to check out Tacoa. 3 for $10 tacos, how enticing! My partner ordered carne asada and el pastor tacos and i ordered a vegetarian one for myself. The meat was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection and my black beans were surprisingly good and not bland at all! the salsas were delicious as well but they are SPICYYYY so beware! the only downside is that the chips are behind the counter so i felt a little awkward asking for more. Stopped here for lunch and I truly loved the vibe! The colors, aesthetic and music were just 10/10. I couldn't help but let my eyes wander. I ordered a carne asada burrito -- supreme minus the pico de gallo. I clearly inhaled the burrito by the looks of the photo. The beans, rice, guacamole, carne were all soooo amazing. It was probably one of the best burritos I've had in a while. Literally every bite was so delicious. I wanted to finish it but at that point I was stuffed to the brim. Salsa bar was a hit too! Although I did not order any cocktails, just by looking at the tequila selections I could already tell they would not disappoint. There were so many options and not your generic tequila options either. (This means no 1800, patron, Jose Cuervo ... nothing against those brands but you get the point) Their tequila selections looked like they were top tier providing the guest with nothing but the best tequila. The service here is absolutely great. We went for a birthday celebration and the bar tender was absolutely wonderful. Jose, really made our experience amazing. This is a casual chill spot that is very reasonably priced. I got a mango margarita that was great. I also got the fish taco, shrimp taco, the Al pastor taco, and we ordered a side of guac. My Cali friends insist that their tacos taste better here than in Texas. That's a bold claim -- especially since I'm from Houston, the land of exemplary cultural food -- but I must admit that the two states feel quite equal so far. These al pastor tacos hold their own in terms of flavor! I loved the red and green sauces from the condiment bar the most. The only glaring difference between these and Texas is the price tag. All the ingredients were pretty standard. Flavor was just a hint of spicy. Meat was tender. Flour tortilla was pillowy soft soothing. Shrimp taco was seaside style had little chunks of pineapple. Fresh and tasty. Bar selection is very limited. Wife wanted a glass of red wine. Nope, they ain't got that. Basically the bar is 3 beers on tap, 3 more in bottles, mezcal and tequila. My husband was in the mood for tacos for dinner tonight so we decided to finally check out Tacoa! We ordered their recommended Al Pastor Tacos as well as their Carne Asada Tacos and Fish Tacos. I really liked their Al Pastor Tacos, they were juicy and flavorful and I loved the slice of pineapple on top. The Fish Taco was pretty good, not the best I've had though and my husband said the Carne Asada Taco was lacking in salt. He also ordered a Margarita because they are $6 on Thursday's -- unfortunately he said they used too much of the premade stuff in it and it wasn't very good. The inside wasn't the cleanest and the tables and chairs need to be updated as they were wobbly. It is also divided with one side being the restaurant and the other side being the bar area, but they have a decent salsa bar and they give you free chips as well. I also thought the lady working the front was very friendly and gave great recommendations! Found this place when I was in Midtown. I don't know if I particularly liked it. I ordered a shrimp taco and al pastor taco. It had good flavor, but they weren't that big. They also forgot my side sour cream. I was in a man of having to buy bags of chips. The chips were also kind of stale. Oh no! What happened. I am a regular and come here on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, my #1 favorite thing on the menu is their shrimp burrito because the shrimp would always be juicy, fresh and plump. Not sure what quality changes have happened- I initially thought it may have been a one-off experience but apparently not so- the past 3-4 visits the shrimp tasted dry, stale, not appetizing. INSANE salsas, tacos, quesadillas, flavors, and great food! also, you cannot beat $6 margs all day! the only problem was my last visit we were told their bartender doesn't show up until 12pm and by 12:30 there still wasn't a bartender to make the margs -- but this was 1 in 4 visits. The decor and ambience are excellent. The people were nice and friendly. The food is inedible. We tried nachos and the special milanesa. The nachos were not special and did not taste good. The milanesa was greasy and soggy and tasted like it was fried in very old oil. We took the nachos in a to go box out of politeness and dumped them in the nearest trash. read more

You know, this particular shopping center hasn't had great food. I saw all the reviews and the overall high score so I pulled the trigger. Both the person at the food counter and the bartender were very nice. The place was very stuffy on the inside when I arrived at 6pm. In fact, the temp was over outside than inside. So, not super comfortable. Could have benefited from even propping the door open to let the stuffy air out if they didn't want to run a/c. I can confirm that this place says they have tacos and tequila; they delivered on this front. Now were the tacos good? Meh. Were the margaritas good? Meh. Both were edible/drinkable, but neither were made with much love or care. When I was ordering the food, I looked in the kitchen and saw one guy. Ok. Seems like a light staff, but maybe the guy is amazing. We ordered nachos to start with carne asada. The nachos were out in like 2-3 minutes. So you gotta ask yourself: Can you cook carne asada, melt cheese, assemble the plate and all the stuff on top in and get it to the table in 2-3 minutes? Well, the meat wasn't hot and it was dry. It was obviously pre-cooked. As it was on my carne asada taco. And it was bland. I ordered tripe taco, asked the tripas to be cooked extra crispy. It came out not hot and not crispy at all. Full on rubber tripas. The margaritas had no balance. Just tasted like a ton of lime juice. The proportions of tequila and triple sec and lime were way off. Maybe they had an off night when I came in, but honestly the tacos at Tacos 65 just around the way are cheaper and much better so I'd be hard pressed to ever return here. read more

It is clean and upscale, intimate for as open as the space is. Everyone was helpful and friendly. There is dedicated parking along the fence if you hook right after you pass the building if you come in off Folsom. Had the asada burrito and made it super for $2 more. Super added sour cream and quac. Totally worth it. The beer was cold and they had Modelo Negro. Others had tacos, asada fries, and a big seafood quesadilla. All were satisfied.
