This is my first time getting a manicure, and the bar that was set was incredibly high. The vibes in this place are so damn chill, with a lovely open area surrounding a pretty bar in the center. Cynthia really knew her stuff behind the bar, creating delicious NA and alcoholic cocktails. The vietnamese espresso martini was very good, but her custom lychee gin and tonic was AMAZING. I love when a mixologist is able to concoct something special, and she did not disappoint. The manicure itself was lovely, and Cassidy was delightful and incredibly professional. She really went to work on my hands and nails after a literal lifetime of nail biting and neglect. Looking for a way to pamper ourselves and relax, I scheduled a couple's manicure & pedicure at Moonshine & Co (a business that my wife has had on her radar to visit). The individual that I scheduled the appointment through was extremely personable and patient as I inquired about the services offered. After confirming the date and time, I provided the employee with my debit card information to reserve both appointments. Ironically, it rained on the day of our appointment (yes I know this is a random thing to say), setting the perfect backdrop for us to get our services + have a few adult beverages. Upon walking into the establishment, I was warmly greeted by the owner, Lien, who was arranging a few things behind the bar. After checking me in, Lien provided me with the drink menu and kindly offered some suggestions pertaining to the popular drinks. Lien prepared the Blood Orange Margarita that I ordered (how cool is it that the owner can also bartend!) as I took in the open space, warm lighting, and soulful tunes playing. Once my wife arrived, both nail professionals greeted and ushered us to a table for our manicures. As I received my manicure (I opted for clear polish), Olimpia (the nail professional) ensured that I was relaxed by making pleasant conversation. After confirming my preference of water temperature (hot), Olimpia started the pedicure process. Sensing that I have ticklish feet, she did a great job of checking in with me between exfoliating, moisturizing, and massaging my feet. At the conclusion of our services, my wife and I enjoyed a second round of drinks as we basked in the relaxing environment. I love the concept of being able to enjoy a relaxing service while partaking in a craft cocktail. Before I conclude this review, I also want to highlight that this is a natural nail salon; therefore, there is no use of UV gel polishes or acrylics that can negatively impact the health of your nails. If you want to pay for the ambiance, this is your place. But if you're looking for a real mani/pedi, go elsewhere. Checked this place out because a few girlfriends wanted to try it. Staff was nice and welcoming. Making a reservation was simple however they will make you sign a waiver. I got the "go get em tiger" pedi for $65. I wish they would've stated on the menu that it was only 30mins long. The service fell below what would be the "basic/express" pedi at the usual nail salons in the area. There are no massage chairs and no jetted foot tubs. My tech started with removing my regular polish, trimming and filing and then proceeded to swipe a foot filer once maybe twice on my heels and that's it. That's all you get. Next up, 30 second sugar scrub and then a hot towel. Fresh polish and no lotion massage at all. Also, tech doesn't clean under the nails either. My friend wanted to do French tips with hearts on her finger nails and was told they don't do nail designs. It's below basic service and not worth the price. I will not be returning. read more

Had such a lovely experience here. Took an early afternoon appt to get away from life. Booked my appt with Kelly online (online booking is super easy). I was welcomed so warmly, with attention to detail on my reservation requests. I sat at the bar as i looked through quaint old books at the available colors for my manicure. I opted for tea rather than a cocktail, and was pleased to see my fave comfort tea on the menu, which cane in a single little teapot and antique glass teacup and saucer, served at a perfect temp. Kelly chose a station on the bar, with her standing and me sitting. She took in stride my odd requests and assisted with suggestions to modify and make it better. I appreciated her honesty and expertise. She was kind and had great conversation. Everything about this place was perfect. It felt modern, higher end, and personable all at once. I have been eyeing this place since it opened. Recently, though it rubbed me the wrong way. I live in Fairfield and booked an appointment on a Thursday afternoon after I could get off work. My appt was at 445. When I left Fairfield, the ETA was 440. Unfortunately, there was an accident in Davis, and my ETA soon changed to 540. I know the cancellation and no-show policy. I called as soon as I knew I was going to be late. I was not expecting that they were going to wait for me since that would be an hour late. I thought maybe if I called to give them a heads up then maybe I can reschedule and avoid the $45 fee for no-show. That didn't happen. I understand it's a business and the staff need to get paid. However, maybe an idea would be to still charge me the $45 however put that money or a little bit of credit towards my next visit. I genuinely tried to get here on time. It's not like I didn't try. I did not reschedule. I am still thinking about if I want to try again or not. read more

My experience at Moonshine & Co was great from start to finish. Making the appointment was easy and straightforward. I wanted to make a dual appointment and did so by reaching out through email. The response was prompt and professional. I received the Get 'Em Tiger Mani Pedi combo. We were greeted at the door and presented with a menu for the bar while we waited for our manicurists. After ordering at the bar we got started with our manicure and the bartender brought us our drinks. I got a birds & bees and a wellness shot. The entire concept of a nail salon with a bar is simply genius!! I came with a couple of girlfriends for a pedicure and a cocktail. The drinks were delightful, well-made, and reasonably priced! I got an espresso martini for $12. A martini and pedi made for a super relaxing experience which was fun! The pedicure was $65 and I was ok with the price going in because I had assumed it was going to be a decent length with a good massage, maybe some hot stones, some extra fluff and buff! I would say the pedicure lasted about 30 minute total. It was a lovely massage, well done pedicure, friendly staff, but just a lot of money for a short experience. We were allowed to stay and chat together for a while before we were asked to move to another area so more people could get pedicures and the staff really was friendly. To be honest, I don't have the best experience at natural salons. They typically tend to be quite stuffy and I am barely allowed to speak. But moonshine seemed like a cool concept and wanted to bring my husband for Valentine's Day. I was pleasantly surprised from all aspects. The front desk woman was very kind and helpful, even convinced us to get the more expensive pedicures LOL The bartender was extremely into what she's doing. The recommended cocktails were DELICIOUS and you can tell she treats every drink like a little piece of art I LOVED IT. Next was the service form our nail techs Brittany and Nikki. They were so kind and kept up with our random conversations lol The actual pedicure was perfection. It didn't feel rushed even though we were the last guests, and the result was wonderful not just for me but my husband as well. The owner (I'm assuming) was soooo nice and I personally loved that her hubby was there just supporting everything she was doing The ONLY con if I can really think of one was the chair situation. They were just standard (but cute) soft chairs but I do love a good massage chair or one I can move to my comfort when getting my nails done. The price point is higher and I've technically had better pedicures. But it's still worth it for a special occasion or just to treat yourself to something different. The concept of this place confuses me. Hairdressers are in the back which seems completely separated from the rest of the building. Folks under 21 not allowed in the building, even for a haircut. Never met with any warm or fuzzy vibes or even offered beverages when getting a hair service. Seems like things could be more cohesive where it felt like each service was intertwined. Instead it feels very separated. I did get a drink but had to walk out to get it with a towel on my head as I waited for my hair to dye. Perhaps send folks back to take drink orders. Nobody to help when I wanted to purchase goods in the front of the house. Overall vibe was not friendly. I will say the space is absolutely gorgeous. This place is very nice! It's a clean, nicely decorated salon. Best of all, it has a bar inside that has fabulous drinks while you are doing your nails. Where else can you find that? I had the moonflower which is so pretty with its changing colors and delicious too. What better way to pamper yourself! The person who did my nails, Saher, was also great and so nice! They have a great choice of colors so it was hard to decide. The tip is included in the price but if you want, you can tip extra like I did, although I would have preferred if they left the automatic tip out. Today was our last full day in Sacramento and we decided to come to Moonshine & Co! It's located next to the NAKED coffee shop which was honestly a lifesaver. My gf and I are not used to waking up this early but we wanted to try this spot before we left and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My nail tech was Cherry and she was such a vibe. I recently went to a wedding and because I'm not used to nail polish, I ended up ripping off the gel polish I had the moment my nails started to grow out. Needless to say, they looked terrible. She repaired them effortlessly and turned me on to some cuticle oil to help with maintenance. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone. My gf got a Mani/Pedi with Bao! This woman was simply just a lovely human being. You could tell she knew exactly what she was doing and she was just so knowledgeable about everything that could harm or help your nails. She took her time and didn't rush through any of the processes which contributed to the overall vibe of the spot. 10/10 would recommend Bao as well. She told us that a lot of Nail places will tout that they use natural ingredients but this spot was 100% about it. The cocktails were simply to die for. What I really enjoyed was the diversity of the ingredients they used to isolate and nullify the taste of the alcohol. I especially loved their full use of aromas to accentuate certain flavors for a more palatable treat. I've owned my own for a few years prior to covid and I've definitely got to say that the backstory given to each cocktail is a brand in and of itself. The story, taste and feel really cultivated a relaxed & rejuvenating environment. 10/10 recommend a cocktail to enhance your experience. 20% gratuity is already added to your bill so there's no awkward fumbling of cash after the experience. You're free to go if that's your wish but my gf and I definitely felt it necessary to tip beyond that. Would highly recommend because they're honestly good at what they do. Everyone there made you feel welcomed all the way including till the end of checkout. I just want to add that I'm not one to do my nails but I've had to get them done for weddings and such. I was simply impressed by their service mentality alone. They do go above and beyond and I will definitely be back again when I'm back in Sacramento. I would recommend him without reservation... except you need a reservation for nail services at Moonshine & Co (which is way better than waiting forever in a crowded space)... he totally nailed it on my pedicure! Where to even begin! The details of this space is beyond beautiful and special. The fact that sacramento has this is amazing. (First one in the state baby!) I recently took a group of gals here for a work event. And Lien went above and beyond for us! She even surprised me with a bouquet of flowers upon my arrival and macaroons! Alex was my nail tech and they were amazing! They asked about my skin allergies and everything before doing anything. (I have eczema and they were so kind about it) Now with the eczema being said getting my nails is usually a chore because with my itching they chip within hours. My wife's excellent hairdresser told us about this place that did nails and also served great cocktails. We decided to get another couple to join us to check out the cocktail side of the business and see what sort of place combines drinking and pedicures. I can't comment on the nail stuff, but we absolutely enjoyed the cocktails. We came in without reservations and were given seats at the small bar. Because of some sort of business regulations, we were asked to accept towel service - either hot or cold towels - before ordering our drinks. (I don't believe there was a charge for this). My hot towel felt rather nice before getting into the drinks. Their drink menu is quite creative and includes descriptors such as "positivity" and "renewal" for the different cocktails. I'll hold off commenting on those and just say that they are very imaginative and compelling drinks. I had a Mandarin Moon, which was delicious and refreshing. I also asked our bartender to mix me up a Manhattan, which was not on the menu but which she was happy to (properly) make. My wife and friends had blood orange margaritas, which they greatly enjoyed. Service was friendly and professional. And you get to see all sort of people getting their manicures while you sip your beverages! It's not like Bottle and Barlow, where the barber shop is separated from the bar; at Moonshine, it's all in the same big room. They include a 20% gratuity, which might bother me except that the service was easily good enough to deserve it. Sometimes nail salons have a strong chemical smell, but Moonshine doesn't have that, which makes it also a great place to just to grab a cocktail with a friend and chat.
