We walked by Mezcal and ended up at Condado Tacos which we quickly learned was a big mistake.. so after our quick disappointment of a visit to there we came back to Mezcal and we were so glad we did! The space was so inviting and the bartender, which I believe was Megan, was stellar! She was super knowledgeable and offering suggestions and you could just tell it wasn't her first rodeo. The bathrooms were super clean and decor was beautiful. We will definitely come back to pay them a visit when we are in the area.

Wooooo, the vibes, the food, the service, all to die for. A friend of mine said this was the best Mexican food in Pittsburgh and he did not disappoint.

We frequent this place often - great food, good vibes, and fast service. There is plenty of seating at the bar and the tables at both the front and back of the restaurant. Never had nopal (cactus) before? Give it a try - it's delicious! And if you like some heat, the homemade salsa that comes with the tacos is fire - literally! Just wash it down with a margarita or mezcal cocktail. You can't go wrong here.

This restaurant was rated a lot higher on google reviews so I was surprised to find it rated so low on Yelp. Although the prices were high, we went during happy hour and were able to eat two meals, chips and queso, and three alcoholic beverages for under $50 for two. As a vegetarian I was happy to see they had more than one basic option. My husband loved his tacos and altogether we liked the ambiance. Service was fine, no complaints!

Great ambiance! Amazing service and very tasty food. We sat at the bar but there's tons of seating in the back as well. The bartender was very attentive!

The happy hour here is great!! The chips and queso, chips and guac, and margs were all on their happy hour menu. They even allowed me to mix flavors with my frozen margarita. The guac was very fresh. The chips were hot and they gave us more as needed. The queso was basic but everything I needed. The margaritas were strong but enjoyable. We loved the overall vibe of this restaurant--super cute bar, friendly staff, good music. It was an enjoyable bar/restaurant. Only downside was how uncomfortable the chairs are at the two top high tables--like top 10 most uncomfortable chair ever. I would return for the happy hour snacks!

This review is only for drinks as I haven't tried the food yet. El Volcan was delicious, spicy and smoky and a little sweet. I am a mezcal fan so I ordered a pour and it came like I have had it in Mexico -- with worm salt and oranges (as well as tajin) and it was a great experience. The atmosphere is nice and cute. Will be back to try the food!

A delicious authentic Mexican restaurant located in Lawrenceville! Friendly staff, great margaritas, incredible queso, street corn is fire & their tacos are so yum! They have delicious Mexican desserts as well. Small space, they do take reservations, but offer open seating as well!

Thankfully nothing is overly gory or too creepy. To avoid a line, it is best to go right at opening or about an hour before it closes. There is a list of fun themed drinks served in quirky glasses that match the theme of the drink (a mummy, for example). I visited three times and tried a different drink each time. One thing is that they can (and often do) search your bag to make sure you don't steal the glassware. Sad that they need to so that, but I guess I understand why they need to check. If you are looking for a quirky, fun experience while downtown, definitely check it out.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The drinks are definitely crafted with care and have a lot of complexity, but with only two bartenders working, it took quite a while to get ours. Not the place to go if you want quick service or are grabbing a drink before another event. My biggest downside is the price point--most cocktails are around $17. They're good, but at that price I can really only justify having one. Note: They do not have food, just snacks like peanuts. Overall, amazing ambiance and well-made drinks, just expect slower service and a higher bill.
