The person that suggested I hit Gordo's said roasted carrot was their favorite, and I see why...it was so good. I made it there for lunch and took advantage of the great Lunch Box pricing. The interior is all dark wood and feels secluded and cozy; they also have a patio out back. The server/hostess was delightful and her service and the food prep were both really quick. I came back many hours later to claim a sweater I'd left behind and found her at the end of a double shift, still just as cheerful and friendly. This place was a cool spot. I loved that there was plenty of air flow through the restaurant and lots of outdoor seating. They have a good amount of options for gluten free people and that's what we were looking for. They were slammed packed for Cinco De Mayo though so it was a good thing that they had all that air flow or it would have been super hot. Upon going to the host station we were told 45 minutes to an hour wait. We were okay with it since we dealt with the terrible food at the place before. We waited about 45 minutes for our margaritas after I had already waited 20 minutes at the bar for a drink. We got waited by the hostess and she was very friendly. It wasn't her fault EVERYTHING took forever to come. My son got the ribs and he said they were amazing. We got some wings and the Mexican Ceasar Salad. Both were really good. If you don't like spicy I highly recommend NOT getting the wings. I love buffalo wings though so I thought they were super yummy. Gordo's is a great spot for a quick, casual bite and good drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We opted to split a few items on the appetizer menu and ordered some mocktails, and we were very happy with everything. The seasonal passionfruit marg is great in mocktail form, so I would imagine that the alcoholic version is just as good, if not better. The guac was fresh and full of flavor, and the patatas bravas were crispy with a hint of spice. But the star of the show were the brisket quesadillas. The blend of meat, cheeses, and veggies was phenomenal, and I didn't find it to be spicy (so if this is something that holds you back, fear not!). Just visited this spot for the first time this weekend! My friend made a reservation for 5:30 pm on Friday night. When we got there, they gave us the choice of sitting inside or outside, so we chose outside. The patio is tucked away in the back and is quiet and cozy! The food came out so fast, it arrived before our drinks! We split the dip trio with the bean dip, queso & guac; the basket of chips is so huge we didn't finish it, and we munched on it the whole time! We also split the brisket quesadilla. I just absolutely love this place. I don't know why I haven't reviewed before! We tend to order delivery because laziness but every experience we've had either at home or in the restaurant has been great. If they ever take the carrot tacos off the menu, I will die. Nice casual spot for tacos and drinks! I liked the outdoor patio space. It's great for groups since the menu is large. I liked their guac a lot, it comes with a lot of chips and the guac is so handmade and fresh. I liked my chicken taco since I could make modifications for my restrictive diet. They had a huge tequila selection too and I love that they do happy hour bites. Definitely need to come back and try more things when we don't have a dinner booked right after. Some of the best tacos in Pittsburgh! Definitely a bit pricey- but worth it. Really great quality tacos. I've tried at least 3-4 different tacos from here and their quesadilla. Can't beat the authentic flavors! The passion fruit margaritas are soo delicious and fruity- I wish they were permanently on the menu (they do a seasonal rotating marg) The employees here are always cranky and they all look very miserable especially on the weekends- but the food is just so good. So, I'm sorry, I will keep giving them business They also do a good happy hour and Taco Tuesday if you are trying to save a bit on their pricey tacos. First time here and I was really excited to try some unique tacos while also enjoying a classic margarita . I really liked everything, I just simply didn't love it . Food: I ordered a Mexican Caesar and a premium taco box with the steak and shrimp tacos ( queso/chips) as the side. My husband ordered the brisket quesadilla . I reaaaallly enjoyed the salad and a bite of the hubbys brisket. I didn't care too much for the sauces in my tacos nor the corn shell, so I ate the shrimp and steak right out of them, which was delicious may I add! Next time I'll get the flour tortilla. The queso dip had an odd texture to it, I was very underwhelmed if I can be honest. Beverage : I ordered the classic margarita and was not very impressed. It was neon yellow which usually means there's a ton of sours in it . Though it didn't taste sour by any means , it was quite sweet and little to no taste of tequila. Maybe it's a drink for someone else, but not my taste buds! I was happy to see they had high noon tequillas which is rare to find up by my way so that was a perfect ending to my meal! While I can't speak for the food as I didn't order any in either of my trips to Gordo's, I can speak to a few other things that are equally as important. You see, during my trip to Pittsburgh I stayed not too far away from the strip of bars and restaurants that Gordo's sits on and it just so happened to be my favorite bar on the block. I say it all the time, the vibe and staff of a place can make all the difference when it comes to customer experience. I got to plenty of very average places in San Diego because of the people serving me drinks and chatting me up and Gordo's may be one of those places but reading the reviews tell me that they're far from average and the good is very good. Wait... I did try one thing, the chips, which were delicious especially when dotted with that spicy habanero hot sauce. So, if the staff is what kept me coming back then who are they. Say it with me, everyone. WINNIE! Seriously, Winnie was the coolest person that I met in Pittsburgh and she's damn good at her job. So good that she's built a little contingent of loyal followers and I became one of them, if only for a few days. read more

First visit to Gordo's for our birthday weekend. We came during happy hour on a Friday and it was a great time. Our waitress was super friendly and accommodating. We tried out a few of the happy hour bites they had to offer for $5 and their drink deals. All of which were pretty good, my only complaint would be the Chilaquiles were already getting soggy by time they got them to us. It was a small portion which was fine but pretty soggy sadly. The beer and tequilas deals can't be beat during their happy hour. The margaritas were $3 off and were delish. My husband couldn't say enough about the strawberry one and I had the pineapple coconut which also really good! We had the smoked wings which were good sized and saucy. The overall space was inviting and fun. They had seating upstairs and outside. They had the outdoor area opened up and fans were blowing. It was a good space for all (friends or families, etc). I'd asked around about this place and had heard that's it's overpriced tacos and that they wouldn't go here. I did the opposite and went here. Put in a reservation for a Saturday before a pre-season Steelers game. We arrived and never had to utilize the reservation as they had space available. They have a lower part, upstairs, balcony top and bottom and an area outside. We were originally seated inside but I asked for balcony. Tables were too small for me being 6-7, outside was more room. The draft beers and cocktails were 50% happy hour. I had a craft local beer for $2.50 so that was a deal for me. The prices weren't out of control, believe things were discounted because of happy hour. Taco's were about $7 each which is a good price for a good size taco. You'd pay $1.99 at taco bell and swipe it down in seconds, 4.50 for a much smaller soft taco at Bakersfield on Penn Ave, $5.85 at Condado Tacos. So maybe they're a few bucks more than other places. The tacos that I had were delicious. They had a cheeseburger, who doesn't like a cheeseburger but on a taco. Ground beef smothered in a blend of Oaxaca & Chihuahua cheeses, chipotle aioli, lettuce and salsa Mexiana on a flour wrap, also with the Chorizo & Potato on corn which was house-seasoned ground pork, crispy purple sweet potato, roasted corn and black bean salsa, chipoltle aioli. it was a good overall experience from the food to the waitress. I went in today with my spouse after riding the incline. We decided to try it since we didn't really know much about the area. We are from Florida and we're visiting. The restaurant was clean. The food was presented nicely but was not what I was expecting. I ordered the street corn and it was not good. I asked the waitress what the citrus spice was that came on it and she said it was tajin. When I bit into the corn, it was not tajin and had a weird taste. Not terrible just not my type. My husband and I shared the quesadilla and the wings. I did not enjoy the wings one bit. They had a very odd taste. I only ate 1. The quesadilla was not good either. I only had one bite and the meat did not taste right. The mock tail was pretty good and it was fresh. The waitress never asked if there were any issues with the food even after seeing the majority of the food still intact. I love a good happy hour, and Gordo's is doing it right! I've been to this spot a couple times and enjoyed it, but this was my first HH experience here (4-6pm). The space is awesome whether you're inside enjoying the breeze from the open windows and doors, or sitting on the expansive and trendy patio. Service was fast and friendly, and our server made sure we made the most of the happy hour window. For dinner we took advantage of the $5 plates: smoked wings, mini nachos with chorizo, and the taquitos. There's also carnitas tacos on the HH menu but we didn't try this time. Got to visit the restaurant tonight for a company Christmas party tonight. They have a great upstairs space. Warm & comfortable & great bar. We had a nice spread of guacamole, smoked bean dip & salsa with chips & their amazing brisket quesadilla & cheese quesadillas. Bar service was good. Got to try their December feature, which was a mistletoe Mulerita & their espresso martini was so good. Our group seemed to enjoy the event.
