I was really excited to try this place but ultimately the food was just not great. I ordered a fajitas plate. The chicken was dry, the veggies were almost raw and the beans were puree. Normally, when I get Mexican, I'm overwhelmed by the portions, but the portions here are mediocre. The staff was very nice and friendly, and they did not take long to prepare my food. My family and I love this place. We recently dined-in for lunch and the food was so much better then take out even though takeout is still very good. If you decide to dine in, you seat yourself and someone will be right with you. Due to rising cost of food, chips and salsa is now a small cost. Service is great and the dining area is very well kept. Other customers before us leave and they immediately run to tables and clean. Bathrooms are also well kept during our visit. Enjoy. read more

Tacos are amazing, burritos are amazing, nachos and quesadilla are always awesome Staff are always really nice and prices are spot on, not overpriced like other places. What I like most about this place is it reminds me of home where legitimate Mexican food is the norm Out in New England most places are Brazilian or Guatemalan (not Mexican) yes there's a difference.. I arrived right as the restaurant open and soon after a tickle of customers came in - definitely a good sign. I went for the combination platter with a taco, enchilada, and quesadilla! The food was excellent. What appreciate it most about the trash out was how quick the service was. From the time I sat at my table, ordered and received a meal only about 15 minutes had passed. I just moved here from New Hampshire and I have to say, the food here did not disappoint. I tried their #1 plato mexicano and it was amazing! Hole-in-the-wall place on the street corner in downtown Clinton. I went during on a weekday around lunch and the place was pretty empty. I got my food to-go (trying to not eat indoors due to covid), and it was made to order - took about 15 min. There's some construction on the street (I think they're re-doing the sidewalk), but this place is still open! I got the Taco Especial, 4 tacos for $8. I wanted to try two types so I asked and they were happy to give me a split of 2 carne asada (steak) and 2 cabeza (cheek meat). The two meats were both very flavorful, but the cheek was my favorite - it was very tender and moist. Tacos were the small ones (as expected for $2 a pop), but the entire meal was pretty filling. The tacos even had avocado on it!! They asked if I wanted their homemade hot sauce, and I said yes. warning: hot sauce is very spicy but oh so delicious Prices are very reasonable - lunch was ~$10 including tax and tip. I unfortunately didn't take any pictures because I was way too hungry. Would definitely come back again if I'm in the area. read more

Great little Mexican restaurant in Clinton which is severely deprived of any restaurant type. El Amigo is part of a small chain of restaurants based in MA. Table seating is limited, so it can be busy during lunch and dinner hours. Take-out orders seemed to be popular during my visit around noon on a Monday. Great tacos and burritos. Chicken Mole and Carnitas are both delicious! Breakfast burritos ($6.95) are a nice option to your standard bacon, eggs and pancakes served at other nearby restaurants. They also offer breakfast combos. The hours are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM which is good for lunch and dinner, but a little late for breakfast. Prices are very reasonable starting at $2.25 for a single made-to-order taco to $11 for a meal combination. The other items I hope they'll eventually have are Margaritas and Corona beer. read more

I went to this location today because it was on my way home from work but I usually go Taqueria El Amigo 2. Taqueria El Amigo 2 is so much better than this place that I can't believe they are related. The flavor of the food at this location El Amigo 3, just isn't as good. It's like they use different recipes. Also the girl that rang me up didn't seem to know what she was doing. She only gave me a small amount of hot sauce and no mild green sauce or any chopped onions, lime, or radish on the side. This had an additional negative impact on the flavor. Overall, I think the tacos were good and better than other places in the area. But from now on I'll be driving to the Leominster location for five star food!! read more

I miss eating in, but the takeout is great! I seems more authentic than some places. I love the plates and usually get one or two of those. I like the burritos, enchiladas--usually chicken for me, but sometimes pork--delicious! They are nice, the food is available quickly, and it's convenient, right on the corner of High St and Union. Food is great. I recommend the tacos especiale in either pork or cheek. The number 12 or the double meat platter is great. Guacamole is fantastic and the pico is just the right amount of spicy. Then on a whim, I checked into Yelp and low and behold a new Mexican Taqueria literally walking distance from my house!! I ordered the Tacos El Pastor Special (4 tacos) and they were I think possibly better than I had in Mexico. My wife had the Tacos Carne Asada. then together we shared Taquitos Carnitas, a side of Refried Beans and a side of Rice. We were overwhelmed, I'm a big guy and I was Stuffed, we came home with most of the beans, the Rice and 2 of the Carne Asada tacos. Pleasant surprise!! We were excited to try this new Mexican restaurant in Clinton and it did not disappoint. We ate in, it's a no-frills experience but clean. Saw about a dozen customers come in for take out so business seems good for a Saturday night. Had some fresh tortilla chips and awesome salsa to start off. I ordered chicken mole (comes with rice and refried beans) and a carne asada taco. My husband ordered the chorizo burrito and a chicken taco combo plate. The mole sauce is awesome, really mild, earthy, and well-balanced. Definitely want to try it on an enchilada in the future. Carne asada taco is the way to go over the chicken. Both were good but carne asada was way better. My husband inhaled his chorizo burritos, I got a bite and it was delicious. Love the smooth texture of the refried beans. Ordered a bunch of takeout from here. The guac was good. The fajitas were great. All of the other items, burritos, quesadillas, etc. had either ground chicken or ground up steak in them. We thought that the mushy ground chicken and mushy ground up steak was so gross. The fajitas had real pieces of grilled chicken and steak. When i looked at the receipt when I got home I realized the girl charged us for 2 extra sides of chips that we neither ordered or received. We have recently moved to Clinton and my husband is a Mexican food lover! We were excited to try this place as normally we've mainly only experienced chain type establishments... We were BLOWN AWAY. We ordered a medley of tacos, chile relleno and sides. Everything was super fresh. The portions were plenty and impressive. The hot sauce was actually spicy (I'm a chile head) and not scaled down to accommodate non-adventurous tongues. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was authentic, and tasted homemade.
