The Spirits: The drinks here at this beautifully lit bar are delicious, strong and super tasty. Jose' is one of the BEST bar tenders in the area. He always seems to remember drink preferences and is just so humble and genuine. He makes great martinis and food recommendations too. He is one of the reasons I return to Meze'. The Vibe: The live piano and vocals on a Friday night makes for a relaxed and classy atmosphere. There seems to be a mix of regulars and first-timers whenever I am in here. The music sounds so rich and vibrant amid the backdrop of friendly bar chatter. The Food: The lamb in phyllo layers, hummus dip and mushroom truffle oil flatbread are my favorite apps. 1/11/25 update: the menu was different from the last time I came. What I did notice was the lack of simple customer service. I guess the restaurant is severely understaffed because it felt like it took awhile for a host/hostess to come. Throughout the evening after we ordered, the customer service could have been improved like filling our glasses of water more often, asking if we need boxes, etc. We ordered the dolmades avgolemono, arnesia paidakia (lamb chops), and weekend lamb plate (half pound). Food was great. Dolmades was very flavorful. The lamb chops and lamb plate were tender and tasty. Portions were ample and filling. The lamb chops you'll need to order an appetizer with it to be full. Meze has a lot of potential but food is mediocre at best. A friend and I went on a Saturday for dinner, made a reservation through OpenTable. It's quite a large restaurant and was pretty full. There is a spacious bar/lounge area that had live music with multiple groups of parties gathered including what looked like a bridal/bach party. Behind this is the main dining room which is also very spacious. There is also an outdoor patio which has potential for the summer. I was disappointed in the food however. We ordered a Margherita truffle flatbread, spanakopita, and Greek fries. The texture of the flatbread was good, more like pizza but we couldn't taste any truffle or other herbs. I prefer spanakopitas in the triangular shape and but taste wise they lacked much flavor. Fries are fries but I was expecting more herbs versus the feta dump. Service was as fast as it could be for someone with 6-7 tables. She was otherwise pleasant to speak to and helpful when needed. Unfortunately Meze didn't quite hit the spot for me. I'd try other Mediterranean options before resorting to coming back. Plateia's food is much more flavorful in comparison for the burbs. read more

Let me start by saying this restaurant is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Oh my gosh, I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped when we first walked in! And to top that, the covered patio matches the aesthetic appeal of the interior! We dined here around 5:30 on a Saturday for my sister's birthday with a party of 15, including my 1 year old daughter. We all shared multiple appetizers: Mediterranean Trio, spanakopita, and patatas bravas, ALL were absolutely delicious. I could live off of the spicy feta and never have another complaint for as long as I live. I ordered the roasted beet salad for my entree and enjoyed two Ibiza cocktails as well. The presentation of all of the appetizers and the entrees was superb and the cocktails are fun, fresh and crisp. My daughter was a HUGE fan of the pita and hummus. My husband and I were looking for a place to eat and made a reservation here on a Saturday evening. Outside the place looks elegant, and the interior matches it as well. When we get in, there was no one there to meet us. Workers at the bar noticed us, but continued to chat away. After a few minutes, the hostess came and sat us. It took a busser to call for a waiter after we were waiting for someone to come serve us after several minutes. Our waiter was very clearly strung out and noted he was busy with the patio tables. We ordered our food, which was brought out by someone who looked like a manager. Little to no follow-up until we were done and our plates were stacked on the edge of the table. Food. Was. Delicious. Clearly the kitchen was on their game that night. After a while we noticed another table get seated, and were given a basket of bread. Not that we needed bread, but that just highlights the inconsistency there. No one came to refill waters, except only when our food came out. Very poor service for such an establishment. Only saving grace was the kitchen. Not sure what was wrong that night, but we don't plan on ever going back. read more

It is with great disappointment that I'm writing this review. My wife and I are in town from New Orleans and were really looking forward to a wonderful date night. I made a reservation today for 8pm and we showed up promptly. We were seated on the patio as requested; looking forward to celebrate the evening. Unfortunately, we received terrible service. Not only were we not greeted by a server; we never even received silverware. It saddened us because everyone around us received service...except us! Went there last night with my wife and another couple we're friends with. We had a great time on their beautiful patio, but they also have a tastefully decorated interior. My wife and I arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation and were immediately greater by multiple friendly staff members. One gentleman, whom I believed to be a manager, even offered to pour us complimentary samples of their wine of the month. He even talked me through the notes I should look out for, clearly knows his stuff. I ended up ordering another glass of their Willamette Pinot Noir at the table. It was fantastic! When our friends arrived, and we sat outside, they had a beautiful little oasis of a patio. We were chatting, the servers were very attentive, but not pushy. They clearly were not trying to turn our table and allowed us to enjoy our time there. My buddy got their old fashioned cocktail that featured cherry wood smoke infused at the table. Had the little flaming lid which, when released, released the smoke and smelled a bit like heaven. Definitely trying that next time! We ended up splitting two appetizers, but spanikopita was really something to highlight. A delicious, creamy spinach filling, wrapped in paper thin filo. It was delicious, and came four to an order so we each got to try one. It was our friends' first time trying spanikopita anywhere, and they loved it. I wish I had thought to grab our receipt so I could remember our server's name. She was funny, attentive, but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I was going to order the salmon, but she pointed out the Mediterranean Sea Bass, and it was exquisite. Her recommendations and clear mastery of the menu helped me find an amazing meal. Supple, tender meat, but had a bit of a crunch on the skin that made me assume like it was delicately grilled. Portions were generous, and my wife and I ended up taking almost half of our entrees home. It was a great time, and their dessert menu was a bit too decadent to pass. My wife, an avid baker and cheesecake lover, ended up getting a slice of the baklava cheesecake to go. What a unique twist. She loved it! We can't wait to go back. Meze would be great for a date, or small group like we had. I can recommend this to any lover of Mediterranean food. Really great place. I like that they have live music here. A lot of people tend to get a table on Friday or Saturday and listen to the live musical act while getting dinner and drinking. At times they are dancing within the bar section. Seems we don't have this type of event in the suburbs as much so it's great to find one. read more

We went in the evening on a weekday and it was a great restaurant. It was clean and our server was helpful. Restaurants in general are short staffed but Meze made sure that we were handled with care. We ordered soups and salads as a start. We were able to share our plates and they were a great portion to do so. The kabob was delicious and so was the Short Rib Rigatoni (Pastisio Meze style). The ambiance is great for a great together or a date. They also have lots of outdoor seating. I am glad they are doing well here and can't wait to go back for dinner. Oh How I LOVE Meze. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants to cater from and dine at. When Meze took over the previous restaurant is when my love for the restaurant began! I originally started coming to Meze with my daughter who was 7 at the time and her best friend for lunch. Then, husband and I hosted my daughters first communion on their original patio during Covid and I was amazed by the service, attention and the food (my family is still talking about the food and that was 2 years ago)! Since then I have hosted mom's night out, my birthday celebration and have catered from them several times. Their catering menu is amazing and we are always raving about their food.... Especially that beet salad. They have THE best happy hour which I feel like is hard to come by! Their appetizers are always on point as well as the service and their drinks. I just can't say enough amazing thinks about Meze. It's hard to find a business now that appreciates their customers, amazing customer service, live music, great food and drinks too, all wrapped up in one! Upon finally getting a table there was no silverware. Or napkins. No bread. No service of any kind. We asked to see the manager MULTIPLE times and nobody ever bothered to stop by our table. Service was slow to nonexistent. When we finally received food (after a significant wait it was incomplete. They had no sides. There was NO RICE. At a Greek restaurant. When we asked our server for help he just told us, repeatedly, he didn't know what to do. Zero problem solving. I was beyond disappointed and will never return. Steer clear. read more

My friend had her birthday party on the patio. They treated her like royalty! I am allergic to lemon and sour cream. They took my allergies seriously and made special dishes just for me. So absolutely gorgeous interior and tasty food, however for the price and portions in comparison to so many other Greek restaurants in the area it's not quite worth it. I do recommend if you wanna take someone out on a fancy first date at happy hour it's a romantic idea with their happy hour menu. (Not dinner, unless you want to spend $$$ to impress your date.) Also to provide some reference, I have no issues dropping $50 on lunch or happy hour on just myself if I feel the food was exquisite, satisfying and good portions. I ordered one item that was not a happy hour menu, the saganaki and it 2/3 of the standard size in most Greek restaurants, not lit on fire in front of me and 3 to 4 dollars more than most restaurants. I've been here 2 to 3 times now different occasions different times of the year pre-Covid and post Covid. I have to say the food and the service has been phenomenal all the time. Personally, we have experienced if you've been to a restaurant pre-Covid and post Covid the service, the food, the ambience everything has gone down, but Meza has kept it up. Not recommended. Food was mediocre. Fish was mushy with no flavor. Very overpriced. Service was ok. When we complained about the fish the waitress claimed everybody loved it. No, it was bad. The Greek salad consisted of sliced onions - a lot of sliced onions, some sliced cucumbers, a few slices of red peppers, some feta and black olives. They should call it an onion salad. London Broil was poor quality. Small portion, couldn't cut and super chewy, let alone overpriced. Sprinkled mushrooms were pathetic. But on a bright note, crème brûlée corn chowder was awesome. If not for that, it was going home hungry. I usually eat everything and didn't finish half my plate. Service was nice when we saw him. We then nicely asked if they could check on our order because we had show tickets they then proceeded to show us a copy of their our order with the time stamp on it letting us know know it's been 25 minutes! We really enjoyed the food and restaurant. But I'm very disappointed that the waitress or management decided to round up the tip we left by .60. It's not about the money, it's the principle. I called the restaurant to tell them about it and was asked to email a copy of our receipt and they would look into it and call me back. A few days later I didn't hear back from them and called them. The manager said that my receipt showed that I was overcharged and would issue a refund. It's a month later and I haven't received a refund and my calls aren't answered and my messages aren't replied to. I finally called my CC company and in order to dispute the charge I would have to mail them a copy of my receipt. Since the over charge was only.60, mailing a receipt wasn't worth it. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this Mediterranean restaurant on the mall drive in Schaumburg... away from the shoppers and next to the BMW car dealership. We wanted outdoor seating with rising delta virus numbers and an obligatory business dinner which cannot be postponed. Loved the ambiance of the indoor and outdoor space.... Eating food with the backdrop of real grapes on the vine is an awesome experience which transported us to Europe instead of thinking of the bipolar Chicago weather. Our server Fatima was pleasant, attentive and accommodating with our requests. We ordered a bottle of Greek rose by the bottle and some other drinks like gin and tonic. We got the calamari, 3 dip hummus with veggies and pita. Main course lamb chops, chicken kebabs and salmon..... all of which were very well presented and tasted equally yummy. For dessert we got the chocolate cake which I would skip Next time, Greek yogurt with berries pretty refreshing and baklava which I will certainly skip as well. The reason I gave 3 for the service is that we ordered 4 different dishes for two people, but everything came together and we felt like we needed eat everything in rush. The branzino was nicely grilled, however, not fully deboned, I may have swallowed a bone and found more in the fish, therefore, I wasn't interested in finishing the rest of it. Ambience - 3/5 - sticky floors, unclean bathrooms, leftover crumbs on unclean/unprepared tables, and random wine corks sitting on wall partitions. Looks like they had a really bad evening. Didnt go wrong for Easter lunch! It was an easy online reservation. Now i dont have to go far for Mediterranean food in the NW burbs. I got their Sunday special, roasted lamb with potatoes and avgolemono soup. Husband and son got the Souvlaki trio, daughter got the wild mushroom flatbread. Lamb was tender and flavorful! Everybody was very satisfied with what they ordered. Our server, Andra (sp?) was attentive and courteous. Ambience is warm and family friendly. Definitely will be back for more! Our friends hadn't been out in a while and gave me the task of finding a restaurant that we could safely dine inside. I struck GOLD with Meze. As you can see by the picture, they take pride in the air filtering system they have installed. Of course, they do have a covered patio with heaters and a fire pit if that is more your style. They had very good live music in the bar area which could be heard throughout the restaurant. Last night it was a guitar player and singer. An extensive wine list by the bottle or glass. I have a picture of the menu. We ordered all appetizers and were perfectly satisfied. -Fried calamari was golden abs not chewy. -Saganaki was delicious and served with a fig! I've never had it that way but it was actually great! -Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese were too sweet for me but the other guests loved them. -crispy potatoes with a slightly spicy tomato sauce were a -egg roll wrapped herbed feta drizzled with honey and sesame seeds. - a nice variety of olives with were drizzled in evoo and sliced for easier pitting. - my husband had the avaglemeno soup. Creamy, perfect amount of lemon and a bit of chicken. - he also ordered the chicken skewers which came with potatoes, pita and tzaziki -a nice assortment of gelato for dessert Our server Natalia was unbelievably professional and fun!
