    Eggplant grilled on site!
    Rebecca A.

Ordered through the app and my dishes (three bowls, kids platter and three flatbread pizzas) were all made hot and fresh and were completed on time. I would suggest that they make their kid platter more generous by allowing better topping selection. Currently, the kid platter comes with hummus and one topping but I would prefer that it come with three toppings total as my kid doesn't like hummus.

I was craving a healthier meal and never tried Mezeh so I said I'd give it a shot for lunch. I ordered (via GrubHub) the build your own bowl and a side of pita chips which is what I typically have when I order at Cava and I must say that the bowl was just as good and fresh as Cava! The pita chips weren't what I expected and they reminded more of thicker tortilla chips than of pitas, however, I still ate them as they were the crunch that I needed along with the meal (but Cava's chips are 100X better). All in all I enjoyed my meal and Mezeh will be my backup when and if Cava isn't an option in the future.

I did not like the bowl I created here at all. I struggled to finish it. Maybe it was my poor choice on which ingredients to combine, but the shredded lamb was really dry and I doubt that could've been fixed with different toppings. I made a bowl with mixed greens as the base and chose shredded lamb as the main protein. I continued to add my typical favorite toppings like Turkish salad, corn, red cabbage, and more. I topped it off with the spicy mango sauce (which was quite bland). The final bowl was not tasty, and the individual ingredients separately were not good, either. The complimentary pita bread was kind of dry and chewy. I don't know if I would give Mezeh another try, but the service at this location was really nice.

I have ordered from the Reston Mezeh several times. The food is always flavorful and packed with great portions. They are very accommodating if you want a little less or a little more of a certain ingredient in your bowl. Even if you're not the biggest fan of Mediterranean food I recommend you give Mezeh a try. With a wide selection of grains, salads proteins and vegetables to choose from you can't go wrong.

Great chicken kabob. Can't remember all the random other explosions of conflicting flavors.

Came here for lunch and was very pleased. Turn left when you go in if you don't see the ginormous line. Then you order as you go down the line. The food is great, but I'm not fluent on all the Mediterranean options and made a lot of flavor mistakes. My taste buds are still recovering from the flamboyant variety. I really wish they provided a sample menu of what combines well, because I'm a moron and had no clue. Tasted great! But it's the first time since I can remember that I brushed my teeth (specifically my tongue) at lunch. I had the bowl with chicken kabob, mixed greens, basmati white rice and then an LSD trip of Mediterranean add ons. Read the menu well beforehand and mix carefully.

Bowl - half kale, half basmati rice with almost everything (including pita strips!) Delicious!!

I found this lovely place after sampling it at a Yelp Elite event - we rushed over after trying a small sample cause the food was that good! To be honest, I don't like Mediterranean food much, I'm a banana and I mostly choose Asian if I can. But after tasting a small little sample at the yelp event (falafel, caramelized eggplant, hummus with a pita chip), I was sold!! (And who can say that after most samples?) My friend and I got bowls (great price for around $10) to reduce carbs. You can pick your base, then protein (some are a $1-$2 up charge). I got the chicken shawarma balls which were super dry. I should have gone for the falafel, which was amazing). But with all the free add ins, hummus, sauces and veggies, it all tasted great at the end! It all comes with a complimentary, warm half pita as well! I got a pack of the tasty deep fried pita chips (thicker than most, with a tasty powdered seasonings on top) and it was so big, I ate the other half for dinner the next night. I just discovered they have an app - if you use the link below, you can get $5 credit to try yourself!! You won't be disappointed!! Download the Mezeh app using my code and you'll get $5 to spend at Mezeh! Once you spend your $5 and an additional $5, I'll score $5, too! Portions can be hit or miss, but flavor is always good. At Chipotle they dump everything into your bowl including the bean juice you don't want, but at Mezeh they're very careful about not giving you too much of anything. The pita is better than the pita at Cava. Kale is also better and not full of stems. My favorite is the eggplant.

Bowl with steak shawarma, basmati brown rice and harissa sauce
    Susan H.

I first tried this Mezeh at a Yelp event here. What I sampled had me thinking that I wanted to go back again. It also helped that we each were given a gift card that was for $5 off our next purchase. We were here on a Sunday shortly before 5 p.m. That turned out to be a good time to go as the place started to get really busy while we were eating. Both times I was here I had a bowl. You also can get a flat bread wrap or a pita pocket. For my base, I chose white basmati rice. My protein was steak shawarma. Among the toppings I've tried were Turkish salad, Israeli couscous, baba ganoush, caramelized eggplant, roasted vegetables, cherry tomatoes and sunflower seeds. All the toppings I tried were good except I found the baba ganoush to be on the bitter side and have had better elsewhere. For my sauce, I chose balsamic vinaigrette. When my husband was with me, he put harissa sauce on his bowl. He was actually disappointed with the harissa as he said it barely had any spice in it. I would have liked to have tried chicken shawarma as my protein but I was told that they only have dark meat chicken. At the Yelp event, I tried their baklava and, to be honest, it was the best thing I had here! It was fresh and flavorful which was nice to see. Many times you order baklava at a restaurant and it comes out tough and difficult to eat. I grew up having homemade baklava fresh out of the oven so I'm picky about it. I like the soda selection here. In addition to Boylan's sodas, they have their own selection. Both times I tried watermelon lemonade and really liked it. My husband surprised me when he got some also and he, too, liked it. There is one thing I don't like here---they play the music much too loud. While it's nice Middle Eastern music which adds to the ambiance, it's very difficult to talk to the person who is making up your meal. The first time I was here, I had to tell them 4 times that I wanted white basmati rice. The second time, I had to repeat myself a few times, too. The gift card didn't work despite the cashier scanning it several times. I think she said that she was going to give us a promotional discount but I can't be sure due to the overly loud music. Still, all in all, for what they do, they do it well. I tried Cava once but I think Mezeh is better in terms of selection. I would go back here again. My husband, who isn't a fan of Middle Eastern food, isn't so sure if he wants to go back. Like me, he did enjoy the baklava but he said the steak wasn't the best quality. I had to point out to him that in a place like Mezeh, you aren't going to get a top cut of meat. Still, the steak was easy to chew LOL! For the 2 of us, dinner cost about $25 in total which is very reasonable.

This is definitely a spot I'll come back to! Mezeh is located right next to Nando's and near Reston Town Center. I'll get the one downside out of the way: Parking is SUPER challenging!! I don't think they planned it well considering there are more restuarants that will be popping up. Not Mezeh's fault, but it was a little frustrating. I'd never been to a Mezeh before, and it definitely reminds me of Cava (huge fan!) I love the whole Mediterranean make-your-own meal concept they have going on. I went with the steak shawarma, mixed greens/grains bowl. The steak was flavored pretty well! The two biggest differences I noted were: 1) They have more topping choices than Cava, and 2) It was overall less salty. I'd recommend getting the cilantro hummus, eggplant caponata, and pita croutons toppings. I wish they had more sauce options, so I settled for the tahini sauce. Next time, I definitely want to try out the variety of house drinks they have.

Like Trios, but even better. Get ready for a bunch of superlatives…read more.. This place has some similarities to Trios in Merrifield. Both Heirloom and Trios are attached to--and share a kitchen with--a Roadhouse Grill, and all of them are owned by the same parent company. However, Heirloom is much smaller, which I suspect makes it easier to control quality. Based on my experiences--one visit here and many visits to Trios over the years--the quality of just about everything is better at Heirloom. My meal consisted of their Smoked Manhattan, the Burrata salad, and the Heirloom Burger. (The burger was so good that they named the restaurant after it!) The Manhattan was one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. It had a wonderfully mellow, balanced flavor that edged toward sweet, despite being made with rye. Maybe it was the aroma--and eventual taste--of the large toasted marshmallow suspended over my glass where the cherry would normally go? I guess, to be sure, I'll have to go back and order another. The Burrata did what all great burratas do: each bite felt like a mouthful of sunshine. The cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette combined to create pure culinary happiness. The only better burrata I can recall was at Mikrolimano in Athens. However, once you factor in travel time and parking, Heirloom is definitely the better value. The Heirloom Burger was absolutely delicious. This past week I've been waxing poetic about burgers because one of the Hackney's restaurants back home is closing after 70 years, so emotionally, I'm not prepared to bestow any new burger honors just yet. However, check back in a few weeks, and you may very well see this review updated to say that the Heirloom Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Other logistics... The service was OUTSTANDING. We were seated right at our reservation time, greeted warmly by several staff members, and waited on nearly hand and foot by Alex. She explained the menu, helped us select our beverages, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. It was attentive service without ever feeling intrusive. Parking is free after 5 and on weekends in a multi-story garage about half a block away. Happy hour is 5-7. They call Heirloom a speakeasy, but it feels more like a small restaurant with an eight-stool bar and a few high-tops. It's intimate compared with the Roadhouse, but not exactly speakeasy-intimate. And, finally, Heirloom is inside Roadhouse. You walk down a hallway, turn left into a very short hallway, open an unmarked door, and then go through a second door marked only by a red rose on the handle. I suspect the obscure entrance is their justification for calling it a speakeasy. But with food and service this good, they can call it whatever they like.
