We had a group so ordered the large chicken platter and added some falafel and baba gannoujgh...it was plenty of food and flavored well. Loved the garlic sauce and the pita tasted like home made tortilla. Very happy with this place read more

Fresh delicious food and friendly quick service! The food here at Zaytoon's sister restaurant is consistently delicious and made with fresh, high quality ingredients. The staff is always friendly and generous and seem to take pride in their work and the food. The indoor ambiance is nothing special but is perfect for when you want a quick, easy bite. You generally order at a kiosk or on your phone but the staff is happy to take an order for you. They have a patio set up outdoors for lunch and when it's warmer. Lastly, this spot is ideal for takeout and delivery. They have a takeout window, and again staff is friendly and food comes out promptly. Overall a well run business with quality food and staff who care about their customer's experience - which is surprisingly a rarity these days! read more

Food is AMAZING! I wish I found this place earlier!!! The bread is baked fresh into a puffy pita bread that reminds me of living in Dubai. I loved the shawarma sandwiches and even the chicken shwarma plate. Definitely try this place out. The bread and baba ghanoush are must try appetizers. I would even go back just to eat those. Honestly, get two baskets of bread. So good!!!! The service was also great and the staff were kind and quick to help. The interior was a bit odd. It looked like a dark, high end bar mixed with a country setting. You can either order with the waiter or through the iPad which was cool. All the food came out quickly. Although it is located on state street, it wasn't the easiest to find so I hope people fine this restaurant through Yelp and other sources as it is, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in SB. read more

I could eat here everyday. IT IS THAT GOOD. When their sister restaurant, Zaytoon, got rid of the chicken shawarma on their menu I was so disappointed. But Mezza Thyme still has it available for pickup! We regularly do the family meal which feeds our family of four for two to three meals. We add on the batata hara (potatoes) and fattoush salad (both my favorites) and CANNOT get enough of the garlic sauce. Run, don't walk, to do pickup from here! read more

We kept hearing that Mezza Thyme is a good place for Mediterranean food, Vegan, Gluten Free, and Vegetarian options, and so we visited with a large group of friends . . . and had a wonderful time. We were welcomed to their warm and comfy space by our very helpful server Daisy. The space is well decorated with different glass chandeliers, and the bar has lighting coming from within, very classy. Cocktails are delicious, with a wide selection for everyone. We were escorted upstairs to their lounge area, and were seated by a wonderful fireplace. So much fun to be in this beautiful setting with such a delicious selection of Mediterranean dishes. The small plates of each made it fun to share with everyone. We will definitely be back as it's very good for large groups. read more

Soooooooo disappointed! I decided to surprise our family with a big "to go" order. We were all so very disappointed by the food! The food was less than mediocre at best. We had thought that this restaurant was run by the owners of Zaytoon. I think they would be shocked at the quality. Wish we could get a refund We will not be back. read more

A colleague of mine and I were on our way through Santa Barbara so we looked up some places for lunch and this came with an overall rating of 4.8 stars so we stopped in. Unfortunate to say but it did not live up to the hype. The food was tasty 6.5/10 but not out of this world 10/10 good. We both also thought that The portions were small for the price. We each got the grilled chicken plate and I added pita to my order. It is take out only for lunch but they did have two little tables in the alley way for us to sit and eat at. The cook working the kitchen was extremely nice and helpful. Because it was takeout I did not really get to look around inside a whole lot other than a quick walk to the restroom. From what little I saw it looks to be a well decorated restaurant. I did notice that the same ordering screen that we ordered our takeout on in the alley was on each table also. To me this is less of a dining experience if you are just ordering and paying through a screen and the only interaction you get is when someone drops off your food. read more

Right after sitting down we were greeted with warm pita and a hummus sample. Ordered the kibbeh, schwarma appetizer, and fool (fava bean dish with lots of garlic). Everything we ordered was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Bartenders were attentive and made great drinks. They have a variety of mezcals and tequilas but I stuck with a classic Manhattan and it was delicious. We'll be back to try more if the menu. read more

OMG! Absolutely incredible food. We eat here every time we come into town. Portions are large enough to split, and we split the shawarma platter. The Forever Nuts tea is tasty...it is served with honey. The rice pilaf side was just ok and pricey at $5 for a small scoop of rice, but it actually wasn't needed because the shawarma comes with 3 large pita bread. Good value, nice restaurant, service and super tasty food. read more

We ordered the mixed shawarma platter and it was amazing! The meat was flavorful and delicious without being too greasy and heavy, and the pitas and rice were great as well. The portion was perfect for our family of 5, and we had leftover hummus and tahini which we used for sandwiches the next day. The baklavas were a nice addition as well. Would definitely recommend, and will be trying this place in person once the pandemic is over! read more

We were about to go to Holdren's while visiting SB but then out of nowhere I stumbled on Mezza Thyme on Yelp wIth few, but amazing reviews. My fiancée and I LOVE Mediterranean food - but we also judge it deeply. To be honest, when we first walked in we were underwhelmed because even though decor was nice it was almost empty. The hostess let's us know we can sit anywhere, even upstairs if we choose. We decide on upstairs and THIS is where everyone is. Lot of "couples" tables (cozy and intimate) and we pick one. We order drinks - Apricot Old Fashioned for me and Whistle Pig 12 year for the mister. And we sit waiting for menus only to realize the menus are on the freestanding little sign on the table - doh! I'm a shawarma fiend. I love it. But I also judge it easily (like if it's not from a spit or too fatty etc). So naturally that's what I ordered. And fiancée ordered thE mixed plate. OMG. So. Good. So fresh. They make the pita bread there which is big bonus points as most places just grab from a bag and sometimes warm up for you. Service was very impressive and attentive. Both ladies were a delight. Overall, we were impressed by this place and it was so tasty. I think they need to promote the downstairs more because from a bystander view walking by, it looks dead inside which without looking up reviews, would make people assume not good food and/or terrible service. read more

Awesome food and drinks!! This sister shop to Zaytoon did not disappoint. We snagged a booth downstairs because we had the kids with us. They have a lot of nice little spots upstairs as well. It is basically a condensed version of the zaytoon menu. I really love the chicken shawarma here... I can't decide if it's because it comes with that garlic sauce. Can't get enough of that! I recommend getting here before word gets out and it gets as busy as its sister. read more

Stumbled across this intimate hidden gem & was blown away! The staff was warm & welcoming, the decor was GORGEOUS & the food & drinks were amazing. We chose a spot near the fireplace upstairs. I came in here tonight for my organization banquet. We were a group of about 25 people. This was the first time we have our banquet at a restaurant rather than school. I'm in love with this place! From the second you walk in, you get such good vibes. There's a bar downstairs and a lounge upstairs. It's super cozy and cute. We all ordered our food and got it super quick. The service was amazing. Sirwan and louise took such amazing care of us and made sure we had a great time. They made our experience amazing and we look forward to returning! Food is delicious. This is my new favorite spot! I was with my girlfriend when we stumbled upon this gem of a place. We were greeted kindly and quick to receive water. They gave us complimentary pita bread, hummus and baba ganoush. The cocktails were awesome, Luis really knows his stuff. For food, definitely order the Tume Fries to start. Both our entrees, Shawarma Sandwich and Eggplant Falafel were delicious. Daisy, our server, was so helpful and accommodating. I really dig the low lit ambiance, and they have a cool upstairs with a smoking balcony. If you want to play games by a fireplace, thats an option too! This place was delicious! Ordered the cheese sambosik, mixed shawarma wrap with like a whipped feta garlic sauce? And an orange Soda. The sambosik was good but not incredible, the wrap was soooo good with that sauce woooww! And the soda tasted better than Fanta it was nice and cold and crisply carbonated. Hands down the BEST Middle-Eastern restaurant I've ever tried. I drove to SB from LA for a getaway during Covid and read online that Mezza was a healthy option. I KID YOU NOT IT WAS DELICIOUS. Daisy was so sweet after learning how excited i was and gave me an extra spinach pie that tasted exactly like my family's. We had the most amazing intimate dinner in this place ! And our host for the night, Daisy was extremely friendly. Both me and my husband had food restrictions and we found a bunch of the tasty sounding dishes contained the ingredients we couldn't eat. The chef was super friendly and volunteered to make a customer menu similar to their (completely worth the money) house feast. And we loved it ! The butternut squash soup, batata Hara and cheese sambosik were our favourites. Would highly recommend the house feast if you want to feel like you ate everything in the restaurant :) read more

Wonderful food, drinks, and service! We went to this great place again last night and it reminded us of how much we always enjoy it, and how really terrific the food is - as is everything about this restaurant! (And it made us wonder why we don't go more often!) They play really great jazz (very listenable) and it always leaves us in a good mood. They carry great craft beers and have inventive, delicious cocktails. We primarily eat a whole food, plant based diet and this place accommodates our needs perfectly while also offering really delicious food. The soft, steaming hot pillows of pita bread make my mouth water just thinking about them. So many great choices - the baba ganoush is SO good, the falafel fresh and yummy, and the fatoosh full of little delicious surprises. Try it - you won't be sorry! Honestly... save your money…read more I dropped by this Jordanian restaurant /hookah lounge to chill for a bit, have a beer, and enjoy some hookah. It looked like a cool vibe from the outside, but the whole experience left me super disappointed. When I walked in, the place was empty--just the owner and two staff. No greeting, no welcome, just awkward silence while the owner stayed on the phone trying to fix what sounded like a billing issue. The staff didn't speak much English (which is fine), but there was no real effort to help or explain anything either. Eventually, I got a hookah and a beer--$48.50 for one hookah and one beer. Yeah... nearly $50. No food, no extras. That's wild. Then I was told I had to smoke outside on the back patio, which turned out to be a tiny little corner--maybe 6 by 10 feet--with uncomfortable chairs and a random wood bench. It took 15 minutes to even get the hookah (remember, no one else was there), and when it arrived, it was totally burnt. Overpacked, harsh hits, and I ended up having to scrape it and fix it myself just to get it to smoke right. Wanna know the kicker? You only get three coals. That's it. No refills unless you pay for more. No one checked on us for almost an hour, and when I finally asked for more coals, they said (in broken English and mostly Spanish) that that's all you get unless you pay extra. I've smoked hookah all over the place--three coals is nothing, especially when you're charging $35+. No one came around, no vibe, no music, no nothing. Just me, my burnt hookah, and a beer that wasn't even cold. I really tried to find something redeeming about this place, but nothing hit. The service wasn't there, the product wasn't good, and it honestly felt like I was bothering them just by being there. Bottom line: for $50, you can do way better just about anywhere else--or even at home. Hope they turn it around, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was not bad, but it also wasn't the most flavorful. The reason for 3 stars is based on two things: 1) the chicken portion on my plate was small. I'd say it was about a kid's size portion. For the price, I was disappointed. 2) it took over 45 mins to get our food. I don't know if this is normal, but if it is, it would be helpful to know this upfront when ordering. The food did seem to be prepped and cooked fresh and pita bread was good. I might come back. We'll see.
