I tried the Santa Barbara bowl - which is a bed a arugula, some beans, a little rice, cucumber, avocado and grilled chicken. It was pretty good- I forgot to say dressing on the side but it was still good. I did think the chicken was a tad oily but still good! Spicy margarita was so delicious with the tajin rim. Stayed at the hotel and ate breakfast here out of convenience but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, and a standard American breakfast plate. Everything was really delicious. As a foodie, I wouldn't say it was gourmet or fancy or unique, but it was solid, well-made, very tasty food. It's located inside of the Courtyard Marriott, not so much of good food neither quality service. The receptionist indicated they have breakfast so I went in and there was no one behind the counter. I waited for 5 minutes and finally this lady merged from the kitchen. I wanted to order coffee and toast, however they don't have French vanilla creamer neither brown sugar or regular sugar. She looked at you with an attitude that's all we have. She will disappear to kitchen again and few of us await her arrival and food. I asked her to give me to go for food and coffee. It took her a while and she poured my coffee into to go cup and rinse the coffee mug with water her fingers instead and placed it back on drying board. I am not sure who's used coffee mug I drank from since the way she demonstrated how coffee mug cleaning was done. Another thing was she gave me napkin with knife and fork, however that napkin was full of oil spots or who knows what kind of stains. I asked her paper napkins, overall not good neither clean. I rather go to IHOP next door where you can enjoy variety breakfast fast, efficient, and great service. read more

The Swim and Savor offer has had my eye for months, now. I finally got to take advantage of it when the beach was too windy and we needed some pool time. That being said...Saint Remy is the bar/restaurant. there is bar seating in side the restaurant and more outside at the pool. We have visited Saint Remy both times we have stayed at this property. We have mostly had a drink at the bar (both pool and restaurant side). We have shared a food item on each. we had the Whipped feta on our first visit. it was so delicious! i wish we had more of an appetite to try other things that day. on this past visit we had the avocado toast. so delicious!!! As far as drinks go. It seems as if all the bartenders are "in training". I have not had a great drink yet. I should probably stick with something simple (vodka soda or tequila soda) but i continue to be hopeful Although the bartenders are not seasoned bartenders I must say that they have all been extremely kind and have provided excellent customer service. The drinks are super good, but the food is amazing. Starting the olives they bring you while you wait for your food. The combination of flavors of Mediterranean cuisine with American is extraordinary. For appetizers the hummus is always a win, the prosecco shrimp was really good as well. My friend and I ordered the brussel sprouts, whipped feta and fig burger. All were soooo delicious. The Brussels had a good flavor, sweet with the crispy onions were so yummy. The whipped feta was a great combo of flavors, the pomegranate seeds and pistachios were the perfect touch in it. My friend and I decided to try this place for a happy hour meal and we enjoyed the experience a lot! We came on a Saturday evening around 6 and it wasn't that busy; if anything, it was pretty quiet inside the restaurant. The music was fun and the atmosphere was relaxing and chill! Our servers were extremely kind and helpful in giving recommendations for drinks and answering questions about the happy hour menu. The happy hour menu itself was pretty small, but had my friend and I ordered the roasted mushroom flatbread and the remy burger to share. Both were delicious! Why this place is near empty on a Friday night is a mystery. Located in the Courtyard by Marriott property in Santa Barbara, the ambience is smart and very modern. The booths have their own private tv, for example. Service is quick and attentive. Order the whipped feta for an appetizer. Super creative. When you order your "big plate" it's the sauces. The chef is expert at these. I ordered a shrimp dish with a magnificent spicy lemon sauce and my wife ordered the putenesca chicken and I ended up stealing half of her sauce. The portions are large. We went to Saint Remy on a Saturday night and were the only ones there which we loved. The service and ambiance were great. When you enter the hotel, you'll have to walk all the way to the back, past the pool to get to the restaurant! You also have an option of getting the food "to go" and eating it on their rooftop which has beautiful views of Santa Barbara! We got the whipped feta (delicious), the Remy Burger (not pictured but amazing), the crispy short rib and hummus (good) and the spicy chicken sandwich (not spicy). My only feedback for the food was that we wanted a little more kick out of spicy chicken sandwich since it said it comes with their house hot sauce but it wasn't spicy at all. I rated the hotel itself, this rating is for the restaurant only. Saint Remy is definitely up to date and very clean. Place looks great. Service was good when we went. First night I had the burger and fries and asked for Well Done. And I know I'm picky but I asked specifically no pink. The entire middle of the burger was still pink. I just ate around it, the server asked if I wanted it to be re done but I really don't like sending food back to the kitchen. Had the burger been cooked right I would have enjoyed it, especially for the price. My wife had a side Caesar salad and the Calamari, she did enjoy her meal. For the place and city I really expected better food. The following day we had breakfast there and I had the 3 eggs scrambled with bacon, sausage and potato. Food was decent, but the sausage was also a little undercooked in the middle, even though it was crispy on the outside. My wife had the farmhouse sandwich, and she loved it. I should have ordered that. All in all it's decent for a restaurant, but since you always pay a little more at a hotel I wanted just a little bit more flavor and not have my food undercooked. Still would go here again, everyone was nice, but hopefully the food is a little better next time. read more

Hard to believe before this weekend that I would ever be recommending highly you dine at a Marriott restaurant. You will not be disappointed if your meals are anything like the four dishes prepared for us were. First night I ordered the capellini puttanesca and asked for the shrimp to be subbed for the chicken. It was done beautifully as was my wife's well done burger. We started with the calamari and they seemed to offset the rainy afternoon neatly. a nice aioli dipping sauce and better quality squid than most. Next morning, she was in the breakfast mood and a chain option was up the street but we instead ate again at St. Remy at a cool little table with a big plate glass window framing the pool. Her avocado toast was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked and my mango parfait with crushed nuts was tidily presented and a great mix of flavors to start your day. The cappucino was well preparded also. Kudos to chef and the mixologist in the afternoon prepares some out of this world cocktails - try the gin-based Sunset on Neptune... cool setting too. didn't take photos, not my thing but the presentation of everything is beyond expectation, right down to the selection of the wine glasses and water carafes. A lovely surprise to find a little gem in our trendy retro 1950's inspired Marriott. Nicely situated next to the pool with funky, fun seating arrangements. We stopped by just for a happy hour drink before exploring State street. They have a nice selection of craft cocktails, wine and good draft beers. I ordered their Gothic Revival gin cocktail. It is a beautiful violet color made with a top shelf gin, crème de violet and lemon. The perfect girly drink to celebrate my birthday. My partner had an Old Fashioned- "the best I've has ever had!" Our bartender was exceptional. I've forgotten her name. She was so friendly, personable and filled with great recommendations about local spots. When she heard it was my birthday, she gave us a delicious dessert. The Churros con Chocolate was very good. She recommended we take it up to the rooftop lounge area. It's a cute spot with more cute seating overlooking the Santa Barbara skyline. A magnificent view of the surrounding mountains all the way down to the ocean. I had a perfect experience at Saint Remy. My wife and I were blown away by this place. Excellent food and service. My wife is a vegetarian and I enjoy it all and this place had something for both of us. We especially loved the Israeli salad, flat bread, and fig burger. It's located by the pool with indoor and outdoor seating. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on State Street in Santa Barbara and after an afternoon of walking the streets as tourists we were just too tired to leave the hotel to find a good dinner restaurant. Although Saint Remy is next to the pool at the hotel it's not part of the hotel, but a separate restaurant business. Honestly, our expectations were not high. That began to change with the extremely pleasant bartender who made our gin and tonics and the sparkling personality of our young waitress. The food is simply amazing and worthy of a much more expensive restaurant. We started with the calamari and the whipped feta and flat bread appetizers. Oh my, just delicious. Our main courses were the short ribs with hummus and the lamb meatballs with polenta. Both would be right at home in any upscale restaurant. We had a wonderful evening in a very relaxed atmosphere and paid a fraction of the price the same meal would have cost in a fancier place. We couldn't recommend this restaurant more. read more

We are locals and don't normally choose a hotel restaurant for date night, but after reading all the great reviews, we decided to give it a chance. It was a complete disappointment. The hotel remodel is beautiful, but the restaurant ambiance was bright lights, cafeteria feel, loud electronica music playing. I felt like we entered the twilight zone. We ordered a few cocktails and a few items off the menus. The drinks were terrible. The airplane mode "pina Colada" was a tall glass of crushed ice which yielded roughly 4 small sips before it was gone. Loved the food, was excited about returning however, just 2 weeks ago, I recommended this restaurant to my out of town guests and could not believe it was the same restaurant I raved about one month prior.
