I used them to do a roof repair and install new gutters and caps. Turns out they had to do a totally new room on a small addition to my house. They were great. Marvin was the FIRST to respond. Some companies never did -- or did so 3 weeks later (seriously - who does that). Anyway, he came over the next morning to do an estimate; I got a few more quotes, and his won. I highly recommend him. ONE WORD OF WARNING: Please make sure you get him to give you a price range. He does his estimates according to the least complicated scenario. Ask him to give you the prices for the worst case scenario as well. I didn't do that, but I still recommend him with this caveat. read more

He is a master roofer, his workmanship is A+, a lot of attention to detail, very thorough. But, he needs a secretary and a salesperson. He is up there hammering away with his guys. This is a small business (literally 1 guy doing it all). He looks tired, but he is responsible. He did fix my roof. He doesn't have a lot of time on his hands. He likes to start on time and early (7am!). The boards are neatly tied together, he showed me what the work looked like since I have no way of going on my roof. I could see from the attic though. He used higher quality materials too. He took 47+ photos of the work at different stages and sent them to me. I could see how they sealed everything. There were certain areas that I thought were leaking in the old roof (and they were, I could feel moisture coming in before). The new roof feels dry. Pretty honest. I had a bad experience with another roofing company, so I was glad to have transparency. His prices are a little higher, but I feel like he did a better job than the cheaper companies. He did give me a low price option, but I wanted it fixed once and for all. He seems to be really well-trained. read more

I ultimately didn't hire them for the job, because it became clear (after getting quotes and opinions from others in the industry) that he didn't really understand the technical concepts behind the way things are done. I set up an appointment with Marvin to inspect my roof. At 10:15 the night before he texted that there was a chance of rain and it would not be safe to go on the roof. I checked the weather and the rain was not expected until the evening, and asked if we could check in the morning. The next day was BEAUTIFUL. No rain, but unfortunately no Marvin either. Where do I begin with this company. Mr. Marvin is very unprofessional in every sense of the word. My first issue with Mr. Marvin is that he never does what he says he will do. He came on a Friday for an inspection and I was told to email him to get a quotation in writing. I sent the email but never got a response. After several phones calls he finally agrees to come one day but never shows up. No problem, second day comes around he said he will be there at 9.30 am but at 10 AM he is a no show. I called him and was told an emergency came up. he then agrees to 2 pm then finally arrives at 4 PM. When the men that came to do the repairs it was a group of men that spoke ONLY Spanish. ( I have nothing against Spanish speakers but I don't speak Spanish) I called Mr. Marvin and asked if he will be there and I was told "his guys don't need a babysitter buddy. " I said sir can you please stop calling me buddy, then at that point he calls his guys and told them to leave. This guy was very rude. Respect is a two way street and I will gladly give it to you. I have no problem looking for someone else. I would advise everyone to be careful with this company. Read through the reviews and see where other people said the exact same thing. read more

After a recent weekend wind storm, I realized my roof ridge vent had been seriously damaged. We were expecting another storm the following day, so I was really in a panic as to what I could do. After doing a quick search on Yelp, I decided to call MC Roofing at 7am the next morning. When I explained my situation to Marvin, he assured me that he could resolve my problem and his crew came out within hours to do just that. His price was fair, and his crew was efficient. And like others on here have noted, I was very impressed when Marvin emailed me his license, insurance, invoice, as well as several photos of the finished job. I would highly recommend this company, and will probably hire them for gutter work in the Spring. read more

Marvin and his crew replaced my roof, installed a ridge vent and fixed my bathroom vent on my 1947 house in Arlington. His prices were very reasonable and the quality of his work was excellent. His crew finished the job in one day. They work diligently and cleaned up after themselves as they work. Marvin provides a 12 year warranty on the roof that is transferrable if I ever sell the house. Marvin was able to replace my roof during the busy season (summer) within a reasonable time frame. I highly recommend him! read more

Took pictures before, during, and after project and emailed me throughout the day to keep me updated. His team was polite, clean (quite an accomplishment for replacing a roof). They protected the yard as they removed shingles and roof, cleaned up everything after including even small nails and pieces of roof. They completed their work in a timely way. Outstanding. We've had a lot of work done on our house by different contractors and Marvin has by far been the easiest to deal with. He replaced our front mansard, sent pics throughout the process, and all for a reasonable price. The guys are courteous and hard working. When we had an issue with the neighbor with how our shingles interlocked with her slate (townhouses), Marvin came out to fix it the next day and helped smooth over the situation. I found MG Roofing on Yelp when I was searching for a company to perform long overdue, 50 years, repairs on my parents home. I attempted to obtain 3 estimates for the project, 1 contractor never showed, 1 was way overpriced, and then there was MG Roofing. Upon contacting MG Roofing, I was pleasantly surprised when the owner, Marvin Garcialazo, answered the telephone. Marvin showed up early for the estimate; a good indication of his work ethic. Marvin Emailed an estimate for the entire project, including the corporate license and insurance information, which I confirmed via Maryland's SDAT website. I hired MG Roofing for the projects, and I am so pleased with my decision. On the day the projects were scheduled to commence, the MG Roofing crew showed up early and worked until dark, the entire roof and roof deck were replaced in 2 days, and looks beautiful. The second project was siding, gutter and painting for the same home, The MG Roofing crew showed early again,and removed all rotten 50 year old siding, rusted gutters from the home, and installed new siding, gutters and painted within 3 days. The very friendly siding crew constantly ask if I had any questions or concerns. The painter went above and beyond, and moved a small woodpile, and any overgrown weeds along the homes foundation, so he could paint everything. I debated whether to give 3 or 4 stars. My experience with Marvin was pleasant; he earnestly wants to "do right" by his customers and grow his business. In doing so, he sometimes has issues with entrusting work to newer crews that might benefit from more daily hands on supervision as he learned on my job. I think this explains the reviews on here that are either great or bad, not in between. In my case, there wasn't an adequate slope to cause water to go down the downspouts on some 100 year old gutters they refurbished. This became apparent only after rains came and after I had made final payment. Some contractors might have "bailed" having received payment, but Marvin sent them back to re-do the job until the problem was fixed. That says a lot to me about his integrity. While it wasn't pleasant for either of us given the need to re-do it, he was patient and persistent and checked in weeks later after a heavy rain to see how they were performing. This interest in getting it right is something I don't always find in contractors who have already received final payment, so, I give him high marks for that and take some off for the fact there were difficulties with the initial crew's installation. Regardless, he is good about sending progress photos and keeping you informed. Once he irons out the growing pains with crews issue, MG should be one of the more reliable roofers around. read more

This guy is a joke! I am a licensed real estate professional and all he wanted to try to do was sell my client a brand new roof. He didn't succeed! I had my client seek an additional option/estimate from a roofer that has been in the business for over 40 years. His recommendation was a $250 fix (TO A NEIGHBORS UNIT) that possibly could impact them. Get a second opinion as Marvin will insist on unnecessary repairs/replacement. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I got about 2 minutes into a phone call with Marvin and realized I didn't want to hire him. It started when he returned a call of mine and left a message. So I returned his call the next day. I told him I was returning his call, and he somehow took it as an accusation and said he wouldn't have called me unless I had called him first. I said, "Yes, I called you first. I'm not saying you shouldn't have called me, or anything like that." To which he replied, "Well, if you want to talk about roofing, fine, but otherwise I don't want to waste my time...." Obviously there was a communication problem, and attitude problem, or possibly both. I took this as a warning sign of someone who doesn't treat a customer right even BEFORE getting any money. I wondered what he'd be like AFTER he got my money?? I told him I wouldn't be wasting his time and said goodbye. Maybe he's a good roofer, and maybe not, but I don't deal with someone who acts like they don't need the job. read more

This is the second time I have used MG contractors. The first time was to replace a new flat roof on my primary home last year that had been leaking from the porch area at the rear of my home and my skylight. I also had several missing slates that were exposing unprotected wood. His initial contact, written reasonable estimate, photos of the work in progress (before and after), clean up, and work of his crew was all highly professional. From beginning to end, I was pleased with the fast and efficient manner on replacing my roof, skylight, and slates. Best part is that I have no more leaks from my roof and skylight. So, it was without hesitation that I again contacted MG to replace the roof on rental property that I own. During the replacement of the roof on the front overhang area, he discovered significant wood rot and badly deteriorating slates. He contacted me immediately and discussed the best option on repair/replacement. This was supported by pictures. He constructed new supporting beams replaced all wood and replaced the slates with shingles. He even painted the side supports of the roof which I did not expect. Given the unanticipated extra work involved, the entire job was completed within two days! Again, I am pleased with the overall job completed. read more
