We had a great experience working with Mark to replace our garage entry door a few weeks ago. It looks beautiful and works perfectly so far. The main reason for the replacement was due to a bad draft in that quadrant of the house, and already in the first few cold nights I can feel the difference. He upgraded the threshold plate and weather stripping and caulked all around the frame. We are very pleased with the results. The installation took about seven hours. Mark closed off the corner where he was working with large cardboard sheets to contain the dust. He left the area totally spotless. Much appreciated! The quote process took about half an hour. Mark showed me several color and style options. He was extremely knowledgeable. I asked about a couple of specific features and he was succinct but convincing about why they wouldn't work in our situation. The customer orders the door directly through a third party. There might be a long lag time (about six weeks in our case) to acquire the door. Obviously this part is out of Mark's control. The door comes with hinges in the trim color of your choice, but the customer obtains the knob and lock mechanism independently. read more

We had a great experience working with Mark to replace our side entry door (which is our primary entry of our home) plus storm door in addition to our back basement door and storm door in October 2023. Both doors turned out great, they look very nice and work perfectly so far. The main reason for the replacement was we recently purchased the home and all door were very old, installed poorly and not sealed properly to allow for a draft and bugs to enter the home. He upgraded the threshold plate and weather stripping and caulked all around the frame in addition to installing all new doors. We are very pleased with the results. The quote process: I submitted an inquiry and Mark called right away to schedule a meeting at our home within a few days. The assessment and quote at the house took about an hour. Mark showed us several color and style options. He is very knowledgeable. We wanted couple of specific features and he was able to suggest the appropriate doors for our home needs with the features we wanted. Once we determined which doors we were purchasing Mark contacted the third party that builds the doors and we ordered the door directly through a third party, Standard Lumber in our case. It took about 6 weeks or so for the doors to be completed as these are custom built. Upon completion of the doors Mark contacted us to set up and installation date. The doors come with everything aside from the door knobs and locks as we were instructed to knob and locks and have them by the date of install. The installation took two separate days about 5 to 7 hours each day as we were installing 4 doors. Mark closed off the corner where he was working with large cardboard sheets to contain the dust. He left our home totally spotless with no signs of his work aside from perfectly installed doors. Overall the cost was reasonable and fair for purchasing 2 entry doors and 2 storm doors and installation. All in all a great experience. I had a great experience with Mark. I ordered 2 storm doors with him. He was honest. Didn't try to make a dollar off the storm doors and had me order directly from the distributor. He then came to install it and gave advice and suggestions that the 3 other quotes I got didn't give. He also voluntarily shared his profit, which was labor for the installation only. Considering it all cost less than half of what 3 other companies quoted, I think he's not charging enough, which makes him very affordable! So I called up MG after a few years of trying to fix a horrible install by "some guy". Long story short, if "some guy" says he can install a door for you for a couple hundred bucks, run. You get what you pay for. I called up Mark based on Yelp reviews and he gave me a rough number over the phone. He came over, took some measurements, took them again, and possibly a third time too. He showed me a pamphlet of doors, gave me a quote for his labor, and told me to call some other company he works with to buy the door from them. He sent the measurement over to the door company, so when I called, they already knew what I wanted. Flash forward about 6 weeks... Mark picks up the door from his guy (I paid in advance) and he comes over on the coldest possible day of the year thus far. 6-7 hours later, I have a new door installed. From start to finish, this guy was impeccable. He took great pride in his craft and it showed. Continuously remeasuring, continuously cleaning as he worked, and continuously showing amazing craftsmanship. You see, he is 2nd generation 40 years experience in his field. He is not "some guy". He installed the door, the storm door, and my smart lock with great precision. He kept saying he doesn't want to come back, so he makes sure he does it right the first time. After 35 days, with weekly and finally almost daily calls, we were done waiting for someone to come out and measure for the door and cancelled the order. We found MG Door Installations through neighbors, and Mark was out within 2 days to measure the door, and he called the order in for the door on the same day. We paid for the door and within 2 weeks, Mark contacted us to let us know the storm door was in, that he would pick up the door and install it on the next Tuesday. Today I add another 5 star review to the excellent record already indicated here on yelp. Mark just finished replacement of all the exterior doors and storm doors on my property. His original quote was written in Jan 2021, work was done in March, again in April; and now in October the whole job is complete. The supply chain crisis evolved all along yet Mark honored the prices written up so long ago. This speaks volumes about his integrity. Chances are you have access to a handy person claiming to be capable of going to the nearest big box, grabbing a door off the shelf, and then installing it for you--all in a day. Yet you are reading reviews here on yelp? Mark will deliver his undivided attention to your installation in a way that might be considered old school. There is a very clear pride of workmanship. He is not interested in fitting that door from the big box into your doorway because he can; he wants to fit the properly sized door and will take plenty of time to explain why. He wants to talk about winter drafts and air pockets and how the last installer did not bother to properly seal the entryway. He pre soaked the exterior door trim-in paint-for each entryway!
