After browsing this shop a few times and being intrigued by the quality and styles of shoes they had, I went back this time and made a purchase. The owner had told me before that they design and make their own shows. The details in the shoes are very nice. While I am always looking for good prices, this is not an inexpensive store but the prices are certainly reasonable and in line with the uniqueness, style and quality. The service in the store is also very pleasant. I always feel that it is hard to find stylish shoes for men that are not over the top "club" wear. NOMA hit's the mark. Great store! :) read more

I went here in 2014 for a pair of fine Italian leather boots. Have never had a better customer experience, or landed a more satisfying find than what the two owners led me to. Unfortunately, an airline lost my bag with the shoes a few months after I purchased them and broke them in; it only occurred to me recently to see if I might find another pair just like the ones I had. Thankfully I was able to find this shop via google and yelp. If I can I will definitely be stopping by again. Excellent, excellent. Memorable. read more

This place is amazing! The quality of the shoes are beyond exceptional. Quality aside all their shoes are handmade and of limited supply. Once the style is out it doesn't come back. So if you want cool unique shoes this is the place to go. Everything is handmade in France or Italy. Also, the owners Jean and Soraya are amazing and knowledgeable people who can really guide you to what you want and need. Both very stylish and know what they talking about so it's great if you are trying to go for a certain look because they will definitely help out and make you look great! read more

While on vacation, strolling around Greenwich Village late on a Sunday afternoon, my sandal breaks. And as if that's not bad enough, it starts pouring rain. We come upon a parked NYPD car and I ask if they just so happen to have duct tape. A nice officer gave us some medical tape to make a quick fix so I didn't have to go barefoot. My boyfriend and I then start scrambling to find a shoe store that's open (it's minutes before 5p on a Sunday). We come upon Jean-Chrisophe who is smoking a cigarette outside Noma Boutique with the gate nearly closed. We ask if he's still open which he says he isn't. Upon seeing my sad, broken shoe he ushers me into the store to help me find an inexpensive solution. I felt like Cinderella as he found one pair too big, another too small and then finally the pair just right. SUCH a nice person and a lovely shoe boutique. I wish I'd spent more time there earlier and not under such duress. But boy did he do me a solid. I'll be a happy online customer from now on and will visit again the next time I'm in NYC. We stumbled upon this place a few years ago, and made it a point to return next time we came to NYC. The owners are so very kind, thoughtful, and fun. The shoes (especially for men), and well-made, unique, never boring, and very comfortable! The Village can be pricey, but Noma is quite reasonable, and the quality and service are just fabulous. On this trip, there was a film crew finishing up in the boutique. The owners invited us in and chatted while we waited for the crew to clear. They spent a good 30 minutes finding us just the perfect shoes, and they happened to be half price! We are always delighted to stop in at Noma, and we always leave happy. read more

It is run by a husband-and-wife team who are dedicated in bringing the most exquisite selection of hand-made shoes from France and Italy (for men&women). Beautiful shoes hand-crafted in France that fit like a dream. I was just window shopping and ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes that I am thrilled with. My experience in the shop was topped off by excellent customer service by Jean-Christophe, one of the owners. He explained everything about my shoes and took the time to make sure we found the best fit for me. This was easily the best shoe-shopping experience I've ever. It was my wife who dragged me into the store and I ended up buying two pairs of shoes and she walked out empty handed. All shoes in the store are somewhat unique and I really liked the style and professional service we received from Jean-Christoph and his partner. The shoes are handmade in France and that may explain the rather high price tag. I like unique store like this! read more

Do not go to Noma Boutique because the sales man who works there is incredibly rude and will essentially kick you out if you touch the shoes. Never in my life have I been treated so badly by an shop employee has I was this evening by the sales guy at Noma. I had bought 2 pairs of shoes there a couple of months ago and had a pleasant experience. Really liked the shoes. I happened to pass by this evening and saw some heels I thought were really nice. Walked in and started inspecting the shoes. I was told by the sales man not to "twist" the shoes. Ok, so I won't attempt to bend the shoes to see how stiff they are and how difficult breaking them in would be. He suggested I should try on the shoes. I'm not sure why I can't bend the shoes a millimeter, but I should try them on and definitely bend them with my sweaty feet. Ooookay... So, the sales guy continues to stand next to me and start are me as I continue to pick up and look at other pairs. BTW, all these shoes are $300-$400. After looking at 2 pairs of flats, he says, "I told you not to touch the shoes! You keep touching them and I have to clean them every time you touch them! If you want to try on, then try them on." I'm not sure why me trying on 4-5 pairs of shoes is less work for him or less destructive to his shoes, but whatever. I lost it at this point and said it's ridiculous to expect me to not touch the shoes, they're SHOES and not delicate objects and he's lost a customer. Without actually touching me, this guy shoved me out of the store and closed the door on me. I walked a few blocks and was so angry that I was treated so differently the last time I was there. I definitely touched the all shoes the last time. Maybe it was because I was dressed nicely the last time and today I was coming home from work in my Uggs and was schlepping my work bags and had no makeup on because I just got my brows done. Not that I should have to look like the Duchess of Cambridge of get some respect. But maybe that's what you need to do if you're ambiguously ethnic and dressed like a bit of a bag lady. I do wonder if I would have been treated differently if I were white and blonde. I turned around and went back and saw the sales man on the sidewalk outside of the shop and yelled at him and asked him why he kissed by a** the last time I was there, but now I can't touch his stupid shoes, that I bought 2 pairs of shoes from him the last time, but he basically refused to even sell me shoes today. He said if I wanted to try on the shoes, I should try on the shoes. Literally illogical. I think the man also tried to take my picture without my consent, which is illegal and if he posts it to social media, it would likely violate the terms of use of every social media site. So, don't got to Noma Boutique unless you want to risk being treated in an exceptionally rude manner or you don't actually want to buy shoes. Save your $300 -$400 and go somewhere else. I would recommend M. Gemi. They're also less expensive. read more

My husband and I happened upon this gem 3 years ago and purchased 4 pairs of shoes between the two of us! Jean-Christophe and Soraya were gracious and super nice. We never felt pressured to buy. Fast forward to today...the shoes/boots have held up both in style, comfort and workmanship. I am heading back to NYC in May and plan to make a special trip to shop and see the store again.
