2 burritos ...add bacon.....diabolical upcharge. 10 dollars extra for adding bacon.

I want to be fair here, so I am going to tell the whole story. I looked through the menu and settled on the chorizo breakfast burrito. I called it in and asked if they could add bacon. There was a brief hesitation on the other end, then a yes, I can ask them to add it. Cool. I also asked them to leave off the beans. She was friendly, took the order without any trouble, and told me it would be ready in 10 to 12 minutes. I got there in 10. I offered to pay right then and she told me to wait until the order was ready. No problem. Then I waited another 12 minutes. I had given myself three more minutes before I walked out, and right at the edge of that she called my order. $44.10. I said what? Forty four? She said yes. They had added $5 for bacon to each burrito. Five dollars. Per burrito. For bacon. Nobody said a word about that on the phone when I asked, and I asked directly. She got me. I had $35 cash in my pocket that I ended up putting right back in there because I had to pay with my card. There were so many deputy sheriffs in there eating breakfast and not one of them did anything to stop this robbery. I was starving, which is the only reason I did not pull the classic move of saying I needed to run get more money and then coming back in about a week. I also should have just told her kindly that I did not have that much on me and walked out. Live and learn. Now, the burritos. They are small but they are good. Genuinely flavorful. The salsa is good too. The chips they threw in the bag were stale and had no flavor at all, so those were a waste of space. But $19.50 plus tax for a small burrito with chorizo, eggs, and bacon is not a price I will ever pay again. I would pay $10, maybe $12, and I would be a repeat customer at that number. Nothing above that. For $44.50 I would have driven down to LA Brisket in Artesia and gotten a brisket sandwich instead. The food is not the problem. The upcharge nobody mentions until you are standing at the register holding a card is the problem. Tell people what bacon costs when they ask for bacon. I am never going back to Mi Casa. I would rather get Habit burgers delivered to my door for less than $44.10.

Completely renovated inside and seems bigger since it's more open now. Delicious food and delighted to find that I could still order chips and cheese with guacamole, which I don't believe is on the menu but if you know about it, they'll still make it. I highly recommend it.. Very pleasantly surprised with their Albondigas soup. I had just a cup, but it had three good sized meatballs and plenty of vegetables in a delectable broth. Parking is still a problem, but typically you can find spots in the back and come in through the Burro Room (bar). Service was very good, and I say that having not had great service there a few times in the past. The waitress taking care of us today , Jackie, did a great job!

Mi Casa is a gem! If you want amazing Mexican that taste like it was home made straight from your abuelitas kitchen come here. Eli and the entire staff was so sweet and welcoming and the customer service is great too. We were lucky to get there when it wasn't too busy between 3-4pm. I ordered the shredded beef wet burrito (came with potato a +) my husband got the comb with Chile relleno and beef enchiladas. We loved it and will be returning soon!

I came here hoping for a delicious Mexican breakfast , and guess what ? I loved it!! I got the chilaquiles and beans. Omg so good! Chile was delicious and a little spicy. The guy that works there Ely was very nice. Next time I need to try their lunch. I hope that's also as good.

I was craving enchiladas and found this spot. This is a small family own restaurant that has been around for a long time I think. The owner made small conversations with his returning customers, and it was nice to see that. The place is a bit old and could use some updated ventilation. When they bring out their sizzling fajitas, the restaurant becomes smoky. It didn't bother me as much since I was ordering takeout out. He offered chips and salsa while I wait for the order. The salsa was spicier than I thought! It was good. The chicken enchiladas with the green sauce and the rice and refried beans hit the spot. It was exactly what I was craving for. I found my go to spot for this area when I get my enchiladas craving now.

Wanted to try something new for breakfast and found Mi casa in the city of Lakewood... we ordered mechaca, a mexican specialty made with shredded beef and eggs. And i had the huevos rancheros, over easy eggs over a soft corn tortilla. Both served with rice and beans or potatoes . I knew right away it was going to be good just from the presentation. after the first bite, i was right!! All the flavors were perfectly delicious. The melted cheese , the warm beans . And the tasty sauce over eggs. A perfect yes for the flavor!! As far as the service goes? Awesome customer service! We'll definitely be back to try their other dish and the Cosido, a Wednesday special

Chicken enchiladas are the way to go. We are not just talking about left over chicken that was hap hazardly put into corn tortillas with a sauce. We are talking slow roasted chicken that falls apart when you cut into it. Huge chunks of chicken inside. You will be stuffed.

Attended a birthday celebration here today. Casual dining, no music, just a TV on in the corner. Servers were friendly and attentive. Food is bland and basic Mexican choices. They don't serve Non Alcoholic drinks , asked for diet coke didn't have that either. Another guest ordered a Dr Pepper that didn't arrive ! Servers sang Happy Birthday and brought out our own cake with candles. Family owned restaurant.

The price for the burrito was more expensive than typical places which is why I'd rate it 4/5 stars, otherwise 5 star food!

Q) How much is Katrina's Taco Tuesday? A) Aside from chorizo, all tacos are $1.69 (at the time) all day. Arriving just a bit after opening, al pastor & carnitas tacos seemed just the thing to tide me over till dinner. Q) How were they? A) Rodney, I found the tacos were amply filled with meat, and a great deal for $1.69 each. To drink, I also had Katrina's cafe de olla, and found the cinnamon sweet drink pleasing to imbibe in. Q) Rodney, where is Katrina's Mexican Kitchen located? A) Occupying the former location of Tribos Peri Peri, Katrina's is located in the 99 Ranch plaza, on the opposite side, next to Boiling Point. Q) Do you recommend Katrina's Mexican Kitchen? A) Yes, I do, Rodney. Not the cheapest Taco Tuesday in the general area, Katrina's affordable Taco Tuesday serves plump & stuffed tacos in a cozy environment. This place is nestled into a small strip mall with a couple other restaurants located in it kind of tucked away not hard to find, but you would miss it pretty easy, it was either the owner and his mom or his wife and they both seem nice. They took the order they made the order and they brought out the order so it looks like a hard-working family. Now onto the food !! My soup was good and I could tell that it was fresh because it took about 20 minutes to make and nobody else was in the restaurant. I appreciate the attention to detail, but for me the broth was just lacking. Something was definitely missing in the flavor department. My 10 year old son ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla and I had a small piece of that, which was actually pretty good as the tortilla was nice and fluffy and very soft. The meat in the quesadilla was also tender and not tough which also helped out Not saying I wouldn't come back to this place and give it another try ,but the soup for me was definitely lacking what I was looking for and I've had better albondigas soup at other places.

So in the meantime we needed a Scooby snack :p The Mexican spot next to Thai bbq was closed for the holiday. So I started calling around because my mom needed her carne asada tacos! Called around and I remember I had Los consomes on my list and they were open YAY. I ordered two carne asada street tacos, a queso birria ,a queso asada taco and chips and salsa. I was raised in Cerritos so I know Artesia very well and made my way over from Thai bbq. Walked in, nice clean little mom and pop. Seems like the guy was the chef and cashier. I didn't realize there was a little bell to let them know you're there so I stood around for a good minute til I pressed it lol. For safety, I'd say they should have something that makes a noise when you first walk in. Anyhow, he came out, rung me up and food was packed and ready. Got home and tore into the bag. The chips definitely tasted made to order. Extremely fresh! The salsa was sooooo good. He asked if I wanted the hot sauce and of course I did. Even my mom indulged and she usually can't do spicy. It was a perfect amount of spice. She said her tacos were the softest, not soggy tacos she ever had. The meat was perfect and plentiful. The queso tacos were simple and delicious. No dried out tortillas here! The Birria was nice and soft. Their meat was perfectly cooked. Not tough or a crazy chew to it. My mom said the chips were addicting. We were full just off our tacos and some chips. I needed a nap LOL. They have a nice straightforward menu. Not a million things, just enough options to keep you interested for multiple visits. Great service from a hardworking family I bet. I can't wait to go back and try their soups, even with this summer heat I wish them much success:)

But the way we were treated here was not okay. My husband and I came in for brunch and were told there would be about a 15 minute wait. A party of 5 walked in immediately after us and was seated right away. My husband politely asked the hostess why they were seated before us. Her response was simply, "because they are a party of 5." That was it. No explanation that they had a reservation, that a certain table was specifically being held for a larger party, or anything that would have made the situation make sense. What bothered me even more was her attitude. She was rude, dismissive and made us feel like we were bothering her just by asking a completely reasonable question. I was also the only Black person in the restaurant at the time. I'm not going to claim to know what was in anyone's mind, but when you are treated differently from the people who walk in right behind you and nobody can give you a reasonable explanation for why, of course it makes you question what the difference was. We ended up leaving. We were actually looking forward to trying this place for the first time, but I'm not going to spend my money somewhere that makes me feel unwelcome. The hostess is the first impression of your restaurant, especially for a first time customer. Unfortunately, ours was a terrible one. I hope management takes this seriously because no guest should leave a restaurant wondering whether the color of their skin had something to do with how they were treated.
