    Short rib

Met a friend here for lunch and, after looking at restaurants in the area, decided on Amor y Tacos. Made a reservation and there we were. Gianna was our server, very friendly, personable and honest about her recommendations. After a quick glance at the menu, we made our decisions. We did a taco plate with a mixture of tacos, ordered the pork belly tacos as well as the short rib entree. Meats were nice and flavorful, and all cooked well, nothing overcooked. Presentation was simple and appealing. The pork belly tacos were particularly interesting with diced watermelon, giving it a little crunch and sweetness. The avocado salsa on top was a little overly runny and felt more messy than adding to the taco. I would have preferred that not added and put on the side to add as you see fit. The short rib was cooked perfectly, just get sister with your fork and had good flavor. Overall, nice Mexican restaurant in Cerritos serving up some quality food. Also, I got a Mai Tai and it may be the largest Mai Tai your going to get, well worth the money. So, if you're in the area, stop by Amor y Tacos and grab someone to eat. And kudos to Gianna for the recs!

We wanted to try this place since it got raving reviews. Upon entering, we had to wait a few minutes as the person who walked in right before us was placing a to-go meal we assume. No one greeted us for a few minutes which is fine if they're busy. They asked us to wait to finish cleaning a table so they could sit us in a corner since we had a stroller. There were several tables open. We ordered micheladas, the surf and the short rib with runny egg on top. The plating looked amazing, however the food fell short. The short rib plate came with veggies which consisted of zucchini and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were still slightly cold while the meat was hot. That was not good. My husband said his plate had the same problem as his were not fully warmed up either. The meat was good but it was also drenched in sauce and parts were extremely fatty. I didn't finish my plate because of this. My husband also complained of the same, stated the meals were both full of sauce that you can't tell the quality of meat. Another issue we had was everything was extremely salty. Given that I love adding salt to things, that is saying a lot. The chips were super salty where I had to wipe the salt off the chips. The micheladas had way too much salt as well and the sauce used on top of the meat. A good amount of people there so it just seems overrated to me. There were also several flies around us that kept us from enjoying our meal. Overall, I would not come back.

Avengers Assemble! Updated review: we've gone here three times in the past week and the quality is still as good as ever after all of these years! No need to travel back in time à la Dr Strange with the Time Stone. It's just as good in the present! Or maybe, just maybe... We are actually from the future and came back in time this week to try this restaurant twice. Kinda like Captain America time hoping to live his best life (or life to be. Or life lost?) with Peggy Carter? Our two absolute favorite dishes are the Chile Colorado and Shrimp à la Diablo. The former is hands-down, one of the two best short rib entrées I've ever had. And I've had various types of short rib in various states, as well as locally. Much like a dish that the hungry Asgardian God of Thunder would devour with hearty appetite and swinging hammer! The latter dish has such a wonderful spicy sauce, with slightly crisp potatoes, with neither one being overpowering or too much. just like Iron Man, setting his suit to the right power levels to stun an opponent with his repulses, but definitely not kill anyone. OK, we do sometimes add a little extra side of spice to this, but don't worry, we have to tell the tale. And one of the major sins is that we order the chips and salsa. I'm diabetic, but I will definitely cheat here and take a temporary glucose spike, so I do a lot of calf raises and brisk walking immediately after. But boy, are there freshly made chips wonderful. You know they are freshly made, because they are handmade and then deep-fried in their original round shape, rather than in triangles. so these chips are the full, round fried tortillas, much like they were made for Hank Pym as giant man, rather than Hank Pym as Ant-man. We now have to add the Ceviche tostada to the list. This one is not too tangy, as I think Manny put too much lime and it makes them tart. This one is not tart. They have a lot of seafood on them, as well as guacamole and some cheese, which gives it a slightly different flavor. They are very large portions, as we have seen other places, although serving excellent CBA tostadas, are much smaller. These are giant and extremely tasty and fresh! Namor the Submariner must have summoned these beasts from the Marianas Ocean depths! Service is always excellent. The last two times we were served by Gianna. There was a mail server as well today, but I didn't catch his name. He was just as good! Parking can get crowded during peak hours, but they share a parking lot with the bowling alley and the supermarket, so there's always plenty of parking, maybe just not right in front. So if you are looking to park your Quinjet or your hover cycle, you may need to actually walk, hover, or roll over from a slightly further parking spot. 5 stars!

AMBIANCE Amor Y Tacos has a wide indoor and outdoor space with Mexican art, wood decor, a tortilla maker, and Michelin recognition 2021 & 2025. The place had a healthy amount of customers around 3pm. SERVICE I placed a take out order with the friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff at Amor Y Tacos. I gladly accepted an offer of water while waiting. FOOD I couldn't decide just one taco to pick from, so I ordered The TOUR DE TACOS (five tacos with rice and beans): 5/5 SHORT RIB (tender) habanero crema, grilled onion, cotija, pickled radish (tart), cilantro CARNE ASADA salsa de arbol, guac, cotija, grilled onions, pico, cilantro CARNITAS (tender) amor & avocado salsa, pickled onion, cotija, cilantro, chicharon (crisp) AL PASTOR avocado salsa, (sweet) pineapple, cotija, cilantro Rice and pinto beans (has pork) here hits different

Stumbled upon this place on my way to Ralph's thinking it was going to be a quick little taco spot... only to realize it was an actual sit-down restaurant. So naturally, we stayed lol. The vibes were really good right away. They had upbeat Hispanic music playing, a decent-sized bar, and the whole place just felt lively and welcoming. Our waitress was super friendly, and since it was our first time there, they brought us a little sample of their chilaquiles for free, which was such a nice touch. I ordered the green cheese enchiladas and they were BOMB. The tortillas were handmade, which made them extra filling and honestly so much more delicious. My boyfriend got the taquitos de papa, and not only were they good, but the presentation was surprisingly boujee lol. Like these taquitos came out looking fancier than me on most weekends. Thankfully, they tasted just as good as they looked.

Literally amazing. First off, we were seen right away with water before our server came to us. The appetizer came within minutes and was so damn good. We ordered the mole tots... you have to try them! I got the pick 3 tacos - chicken tinga, al pastor and a shrimp taco.. all phenomenal with insane flavor and packed to the top. My husband ordered the pork belly entree and I ate some of his too. Unfortunately we were too excited and didn't get photos of the entree but wow, amazing. The servers were so attentive and kind, offered suggestions and everyone helped each other out. Our table was never dirty and we ate in less than an hour. I wish we had room for desert. The vibe was great, restaurant was so clean and inviting, the music was so diverse and great! My husband loved his margarita too! We are in town visiting from Maryland and I am sure we will be stopping by before we head home.

Came here after a school night activity with my kids. Had been here before. The Mexican themed wall arts and indoor decor still draw my fond attention. If you come during the day, you may be able to catch the worker making the fresh tortillas by hands. We ordered the trio tacos and the wet burrito. Great flavor. The burrito is of generous portion that you could save the uneaten portion for a second meal. The servers are attentive. Will definitely return.

I was in Cerritos for work and this was only a mile or so from the Sheraton where I stayed. The restaurant is in an unassuming little strip mall. Right when you walk in there is a station where they make homemade tortillas. The restaurant is very colorful and lively with fun art and music. Our server was excellent. Super friendly, great service, and explained the menu well. He brought us a bowl of complimentary chilaquiles since it was our first time there. And they were delicious. I got the cheese enchiladas which were HUGE and so tasty. My colleagues ordered tacos and loved them. They let you mix and match too. They had this noted on the menu but the regular beans have pork in them and the regular rice is not vegetarian but they have other rice and black beans that are. The house margarita was really well made too. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Amor Y Tacos in Cerritos is a hidden gem. The brunch menu features Birria Benedict, Birria Machaca, and lots of other unique and delicious dishes. Service could use some improvements.

I stopped by for a late-night bite. We were in the area, and feeling a bit hungry. We were craving some Mexican food, and we saw that this place had good recommendations, so we decided to stop by. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. It looked like there were only two front staff working that night, just a waitress and the bartender, who seemed to handle pretty much everything. I wasn't expecting much, but the hospitality was on point. I didn't catch his name, but the bartender was one of the best servers I've ever had. He was super friendly and went out of his way to accommodate our order after it came out not as expected (I'll get into that later). We ordered a few things: chips and salsa, the wet burrito, and the chipotle agave pork belly. The chipotle agave pork belly was hands down the best thing we ordered. The pork belly was tender, a little salty, and a little sweet from the glaze. The potatoes that came with it were amazing. IT was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just delicious. Everything in this dish was just so well balanced. On the other hand, the other two dishes we ordered were just okay. The chips and salsa were standard. The salsa was a good light starter to the meal. I did want to mention that the chips were huge, practically entire tortillas! They were unsalted, but strangely addictive to munch on. As for the wet burrito, it had the potential to be good and would have been a hefty meal. It might take two people to finish, or if you're extra hungry, you could tackle it solo. We got the burritos with carnitas, but it came out too salty. It was noticeably salty, and even the other fillings and sauces couldn't balance it out. The bartender offered additional condiments to help cut the saltiness and even asked if we wanted it remade. However, by the time we figured out why it tasted off to us and concluded it was the saltiness, we were pretty much done with the burritos and our meal. We decided not to have the kitchen remake the burrito, as we didn't want to waste food, especially since we wouldn't finish a 2nd burroito. We barely took a few bites of the first and just thought it would be too much of a waste. Overall, the experience was solid, and the bartender's excellent service definitely stood out.

Amor Y Tacos is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant with Mexican flavors. I've been here many times and my favorite items are their mole tots, their tortilla soup, and their shrimp enchiladas; however, my favorite time to come here is during "Dine LA". Amor Y Tacos gives one of the best pre-fixe menus in LA County and it's a great time to try things. Unlike previous years, portion sizes for the pre fixe menu were reduced to individual-sized portions; however, I think that they still gave tremendous value for the price. The Dine LA Menu is available through Friday, February 6 and it comes with chips and guac, street corn, your choice of tortilla soup or mexican clam chowder, an entree of your choice, and churros with horchata ice cream. For $35, it's a no-brainer. The tortilla soup and mexican clam chowders are flavor bombs. For my entree, I went with a wet burrito with chicken tinga and mole sauce. It's hard to go wrong with street corn; however, I thought that the churros were pretty standard. The burrito was massive and I'm still picking away at it a few days later. If you're looking for a great dine LA pick, then this is a great local option; however, I think it's also a great spot to check out on a regular night. Their margaritas are flavorful and strong, and you'll definitely be able to find something rich in flavor.

Everything was phenomenal! Every single staff interaction was warm and welcoming. Plenty of parking. Great for large groups. The food was slight pricey for Mexican food but everything was so delicious!! They even make their tortillas fresh for the tacos, which makes such a difference. I would recommend the Mole Tot, Short Rib Tacos, and the Chipotle Agave Glazed Pork Belly which just melts in your mouth! They also have a bar and margaritas flights!

I got excited as we walked in because of how cool the vibe was inside the restaurant! Modern and clean aesthetic ... such a surprise! I had already looked at the menu the night before, so I made some suggestions for our party of four adults and kiddo. Our server brought fresh sourdough rolls with seasoned butter. Solid start. We then ordered the stuffed 'shrooms and proscuitto-arugula pizza as starters. Both were very excellent, and was tell-tale of what we were about to experience with our entrees. Entrees ordered were the rigatoni with vodka sauce, the pappardelle with shortrib (two servings but really enough food for at least four ppl!) and the chicken Parmesan salad. Everything was impressive, especially the pappardelle dish. With the beurre blanc and creamy Alfredo sauce with two huge pieces of short rib that were fork tender, it was the star of the evening. The evening started off strong, as we stopped by during Hoppy Hour (around 9ish). There wasn't a wait, and it wasn't too busy, so we were seated right away. The front staff was nice and polite. She gave us the option of either a tall round table or a shorter rectangular table. We of course, opted for the slightly shorter (height-wise) rectangular table. Once we were seated, we were given the menu, and the waitress told us that we would be right with us. She stopped by to ask about drinks, and we opted for water. She dropped off water and came back with perfect timing because by then we were ready to order. I also love the simplicity of the menu. There really aren't too many options where you feel overwhelmed, but there are still enough choices to pick from. Shout out to the pastrami quesadilla, I didn't realize it had been swapped for a new menu item until I asked about it this time around, but I'll be waiting for its comeback! We ordered a few items: the mac and cheese balls, the Wagyu bone marrow burger with truffle fries, and a double smash burger with ribbed finger potatoes. We had to get the mac and cheese balls since it was Hoppy Hour! I also didn't realize that on Wednesdays, the double smash burgers are half off. I'll definitely remember that for next time. After we ordered, the food came out quicker than I expected. It was a nice surprise. I think the first item came out about 10 minutes after our initial order. The mac and cheese balls came out hot, which was great. The breading made them super crispy and gave a nice crunch that balanced really well with the softer, chewier mac and cheese inside. I was glad the inside wasn't too runny since that would have made it like lava! I didn't see a cheese pull this time, but next time I'll try again to see if I can catch one. It was a great start to the meal. The burgers came out shortly after we finished the mac and cheese balls. I totally forgot that the truffle fries came with sauce. I should have asked for the sauce on the side, but it wasn't a problem that it was added on top of the fries. It just made them get soggy a bit faster, but that's no problem; it just means I've got to work faster! The burger was good and came out super juicy. I asked for it medium, and it looked about medium, so no complaints here! I never realized before, but the bread was so fluffy... it was a super pillowy bun with a nice bounce to it. It definitely helped balance out the meatiness of the patty. The hint of tomato gave it a nice, refreshing bite and really helped cut through the richness of the meat. The onions also added a nice sweetness to the burger, which was appreciated. I also snuck a bite of the ribbed potatoes, and they were good as well. They were a bit crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, with just a touch of saltiness. I also stole a pickle from the double smash and realized I probably should have asked for pickles on my burger, but I'll remember that for my next visit!

3 stars for the food, but only 1 star for the service…read more I came on a Wednesday evening, and there were only a handful of people inside and out on the patio. You'd think with it being so slow, the service would have been attentive... but it wasn't. Our waitress only came to our table to take our order and bring the check. The only other time we saw her was after we flagged down another staff member because our fries were lukewarm. Unfortunately, the replacement fries were also lukewarm, so I'm thinking fries just aren't their specialty. I ordered the Al Pastor fish tacos. They were good, but nothing really stood out or made me want to order them again. I'm willing to give Eureka! another try because everyone has an off day. Hopefully the service is better next time, and I'll update my review if it is.
