Outstanding breakfast burrito! I love a breakfast burrito with hash browns (which this one had), but it also had a LOT of bacon in it. The red and green sauce were outstanding with it. Fernando said he set up a pop-up next to Tierra Mia drive through coffee so that coffee drinkers could stop for a burrito. While I waited, I saw someone come by and order a few tamales. The reason I stopped was because when I was done volunteering for the Bixby Neighborhood Cleanup, one of the volunteers told me I could get a free tamale from Taqueria La Mexicano (Rico's Tacos) as a thank you. How very generous of the owner, Fernando! He was so friendly and grateful for the volunteers, and while I was there, 3 other volunteers stopped by and were treated to a tamale. I will definitely come back and support this wonderful Mexican restaurant! A shout out to Fernando and Brian for their excellent customer service, frendliness, and generosity. read more

I can always rely on this place when I want want a good Street. Taco. Carne asada lengua chicken. They are all good. Their dinner in combination plates are always really good. I love their beans and their traditional Mexican rice. It's really only a takeout place as there's no indoor seating. The Chile Verde is always good to go! read more

I finally tried the food here after years of passing by. I wasn't blown away. I would probably give the food another try but I wouldn't run out of my way for a meal here. I tried the shrimp tacos and they were decent. I ordered mine without mayo on the tortilla, and without the chipotle sauce. I added the mild green salsa to them, and that gave them a good flavor. I thought the batter was heavy.. at some point I thought I was getting more batter than shrimp in a bite. The service was decent. If you want to sit and eat, there are a few small tables lined up on the side, but it seems like most people order to go, which is what I did. Again, wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. I've been coming to this restaurant for years, and today was my first visit back in a couple of years. The food is still good, but the service has really gone downhill. I was the first one in line and still ended up waiting over 15 minutes just to be helped. Then it took about 40 minutes for the food to be prepared. And this is a to go establishment. It wasn't just me either several other customers were standing around confused, asking each other what they ordered because everyone had been waiting so long. The have a sign that says tamales hot and ready, figured id order some real quick on my lunch break ... had me wait 20 minutes for 6 tamales. That they advertise as hot and ready... not complaining but why advertise they are ready if they arent.. upon getting the tamales they were mediocre and lacked flavor. The tamales have minimal meat in them and were definetly not worth getting back to work late... idk if ill be coming here again not worth the $24 i spent for 6 tamales.. read more

But I got something I been craving and the meat was yummyyyy, the masa had me a little confused but overall it was a solid purchase. I honestly really really like this spot ! Descent tacos, I hadn't been in a few years. And I was craving just tacos, nothing fancy. I don't eat pork often, so I treated myself to carnitas tacos, a guilty pleasure that I satisfy from time to time. So I ordered 2 pork and thought my boyfriend might want some so I ordered 3 more, carne asada. When I picked them up I was a lil shocked at my total for 5 tacos. It came out to be basically $15 cause paying with a $20 got 5 and change... I know food prices have gone up and increases will be passed on to consumers. Got home and to my surprise these were mini tortillas, so mini tacos at 2.50 each WOW. I had my 2 + the 3 that I never saved for my boyfriend cause I was still hungry after the 2. Been coming here for years and I ordered carne asada fries with wet burrito sauce instead of guac and they were soooo . The fries were crispy, the carne asada was seasoned perfectly, and the amount of cheese not just cheese cheese but melted married everything together immensely. I just wish they put a lil more sauce on it which I'm sure if I asked for more they would. read more

This restaurant was good. It is on a busy street so you can miss it if you're going to fast. I've past bu this place so many times and finally this time I stopped especially since there was parking. Brenda the cashier was nice but honestly they're so slow here. There was only one person in front of me and she got her order wrong and mine took forever. I ordered a burrito and it was good. Taqueria la Mexicana # 2 made the blueprint and sells undeniably the best tacos in Long Beach. The Al Pastor is phenomenal and the Asada is a close 2nd. I hear # 5 is owned by the brother. Sadly, it's not the place it used to be value wise. Staff is pretty nice, been eating there since around 2009. Portions and prices (pre-covid) were much better. Around a year ago I got sick from a fish taco (meat was old) - I called and they offered to replace it so that I did appreciate it. I just left the matter alone, should have asked for store credit, but that's on me. Today I spent $16 (Feb 2024) for carne asada burrito with a side of fries. I know running a business is hard, but that just felt like too much. Going to miss what this place used to be - a general "go to" for my family. Prices feel high and they seem to be skimping on the meat. Pound for Pound, Adobe Taco over on Woodruff is the king right now. It's a 10 minute drive, but not it's worth it. I've got to say that I was impressed with this "hole in the wall" fast food joint. They've got a few barstool seatings on the outside with very little sit down but some. There is no inside so dont plan on beating the heat by going inside. The food is a bit expensive for the portion size, just a personal opinion. However I thought the taste of the meat was pretty darn good. I had the super nachos with chicken and O thought it tasted very good. Again, for me, the portion seemed small and it was light on chicken but it still tasted well. I also tried a churro and those WERE AMAZING!!! They were baked fresh so hot and soft, delicious!! My absolute favorite Taqueria! Family Favorite is the Carne Asada meat plate! The carne asada is always delicious and I like the small beans & rice. My favorite is the Super Nachos with Carne Asada! Yummy cheese, meat, beans, guacamole, sour cream a big yummy mess of nachos. Sometimes we change it up and go with tacos - al pastor , carnitas & chili verde are bomb! Wet burritos are also good and a nice hefty meal! My kids often make me request food without onions or cilantro. The taqueria is always helpful and all the people are very nice. The restaurant is still open during the COVID-19 quarantine! I came on a Friday evening and saw that there was no line, so I was hoping ordering an order of carne asada fries and a few tacos would be quick. Unfortunately, it took over 30 minutes to receive our food. The carne asada was very dry, the size of the carne asada fries was a bit small, tacos didn't have much meat in them, and they had forgotten to include the churro that we ordered. Luckily I checked my bag before leaving. A lot of people had placed phone orders, and after reading other reviews, many people mentioned the wait time was an issue.
