Wow.. this place isn't the same anymore . I went out with family and it took over an hour 1/2 to receive our food. This is ridiculous and I ordered a strong margarita to find out it barely has alcohol, instead it has more lemon juice. I'm never coming here again. I live very close to this restaurant and so I pass it almost everyday. But my first time eating here just happened to be on Valentine's day. I had just come from another restaurant where I had such a terrible experience with the staff that I ended up not ordering anything and just left. And so my husband came to Mi Casita as a "last resort". However, that turned out to be such a big blessing in disguise as this is now one of my favorite places. Firstly, when I walked in 3 different friendly ladies attempted to assist me or at least made sure I was being taken care of. I ordered the costilla de res and my husband got the lomo saltado. Both were excellent. I liked the food and service so much so that we ordered take out again the next day but this time with family. The sopa de res was very rich though we do wish it had a bit more meat. I took a completely different path and wanted to try their philly cheesesteak. To my surprise, it was actually decent though there was a comedic part where I found a thick slice of cucumber. The pupusas are also heavenly! My favorite is the revuelta pupusas and though I get full easily I ordered extra just so I could enjoy it again the next day. Came here on a taco Tuesday night. Food was okay, not that great felt rushed. No greeting just walked in and sat down. It was a last resort as its super close to my work. I wanted to treat a co worker who just moved from Texas to here he loves Peruvian food. Pupusas were okay not really authentic. Tacos were rushed. Didn't take their time and our waitress was a bit offended that we didn't like the pupusas. I have been to El Salvador and had many Peruvian dishes. Definitely, would not recommend to anyone. Excellent Mexican fare. I had dinner here this evening. BUT - once again - as with other Mexican/Latin America restaurants in the Manassas area - communications issues marred the overall experience. My waitress was not fluent in English - she did know some. She was friendly and smiling the whole time. I was trying to get her to tell me how big their plate of Nachos was - she did not understand what I was attempting to ask. I was trying to figure out if the Nachos would be a meal alone - or did I also need to order an additional menu item? So I rolled the dice, ordered the Nachos with ground beef AND a Beef Burrito, plus a Diet Coke. While I was waiting, she brought me out a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was not anything to write home about - I added some hot sauce to it to kick it up a notch. When the Nachos came out - visually - they were appealing. And from a taste-perspective - they were excellent. Meaty, just the right amount of melted jack cheese, chopped onions, jalapenos, sour cream, and guacamole. A solid, robust, tasty plate of Nachos. And I added more hot sauce to the Nachos. Then she brought me my check. I asked what happened to my Burrito? She clearly did not understand that I had wanted to order both. At that point, I decided I was close to full from just the Nachos - so I thanked her and paid the bill - $8.00 and change for the meal. I tipped her $1.60. We were in the mood for Mexican. What we got was far more: Mi Casita is a mix of Mexican, Peruvian, and other nationalities. There was soup, fajitas, dishes with plaintain and yucca - all sorts of stuff! My wife's soup was VERY authentic! Setting was very tasteful if not fancy and it's right on the corner of Liberia & Centreville. Most of the clientele WAS Latino so you knew it was authentic! LOVE Mi Casita! My family has been savoring their food for years now. My husband, who is from Los Angeles and San Antonio, TX is all too familiar with authentic Hispanic food but upon moving to Northern Virginia was saddened to see a lack of good places. Then I took him here... The prices are super fair, the food is always fresh and delicious! They have a large variety of drinks and the atmosphere is chill. The servers are always sweet and happy to help you, even if you don't speak Spanish perfectly... (still learning). They JUST opened up a taco truck at the intersection of Gum Springs and 234 and you must go try it! They cook everything fresh, when you place an order. They have a nice shady spot to eat there if you'd like. On a beautiful, sunny day it's a great place to catch a bite. We highly recommend! You'll be happy. :) Recommendations: For soup lovers, try the Consome De Camaron Con Huevos(English translation: Shrimp soup with eggs). How Mi Casita's soup differs from other businesses I've dined at? Something buttery in the broth, which I think marries well with the shrimp/eggs/vegetables; the competition uses a sweetener(e.g. Coconut milk)---which I'm not a fan of in my soup! If no other customers were around? Forget the spoon! I'd sip it up from the bowl. Owners: Norma and Lucio are sweet, down-to-earth and hard-working people. Any language barriers with the waitresses? None. While my Spanish is ok(always room for improvement), the Staff's English is fair/good. Do you like fruit shakes? From my understanding, Mi Casita uses fruit from exotic locales and is said to be a health godsend, such as helping to reduce weight/high blood pressure. Mi Casita expanding? They're mobile!! Mi Casita ....my little house. Here you get a mix of Mexican & Salvadorian food. The menu covers your classic mex fav's like fajitas, enchiladas, burritos and taco's. For Salvadorian is the classic pupseria's and rotisserie chicken. I really like that they also have a nice mix of various soups. They have Sopa De Gallina which is chicken soup. You get a nice bowl of plentiful white meat with a decicious broth and veggies like carrots, cabbage and corn. I tried the chicken tacos and they were really good. They have the soft tortillas and served with pico de gallo...quite good. I also like that they start you out with delicious chips and salsa. My only down grade is they have the TV going at the same time as the Muzak.The stools at the bar were all wobbly and the parking lot entrance and exit is very tricky. The beans are thick, and they're perfect. The crema is actually crema, not sour cream. It's not runny, but thick. Eggs are normal eggs. Avocado good. The plantains are outstanding and you get a decent portion (I ordered desayuno #2). It's $9.95 or so for I think all of their breakfast dishes. The only thing - the chicharron is legit chunks of pork in spices and whatnot. I've seen sausage everywhere else but here. I didn't try it so I can't say anything about it. Decided to check this out after seeing this place for years and reading the great reviews. We ordered chicken enchiladas and a chicken taco salad. There were a number of people in the restaurant when we arrived. We were seated and taken care of almost immediately. Our drinks came out as well as chips and home made salsa. The salsa was good but a bit watered down. The chips were great. That said, we waited thirty minutes for our food to arrive. The chicken enchiladas were absolutely delicious and hands down the best I've had in Manassas. The house sauce on them mixed with the chicken made for a very enjoyable meal. The rice was typical and more of a flavored yellow rice. The taco salad was good too (7 out of 10) and there was a lot of chicken! After driving past this place for years I'm happy we finally stopped and look forward to coming back again soon. read more

I used to pass by it all the time on my way home. The location is at a prime spot on Liberia. I went in with my girlfriend one night since we were craving Hispanic food. Pretty happy with the experience overall. I ordered the Steak Fajitas and my girlfriend ordered cheese quesadillas. The food was extremely good and filling. The service was great too. This is a cute and perfect medium-size restaurant. The service is superb, and the food is even better. The bean pupusas were the best: as no other pupusas I have tried . They also offer yuca in several forms. The menu is a blend of Mexican and Salvadorian food, and even though it is not too big, it is reasonable for the restaurant's size. My complains are insignificant: they count as dessert things that are not considered as such in the Caribbean (perhaps they are in Salvador), and the main courses are too few--the menu ignores that many of its appetizers and side dishes could become main courses too. Someone unfamiliar with the food could find it limiting. But if you explain to them what you want they are always willing to customize your order to your taste. The prices are appropriate for NOVA, neither cheap nor expensive. They don't take AX. Bring cash or Visa and Master Card. I look forward to eat hear again. read more

I used to live just down the street from Mi Casita and I would frequently stop there on the way home for dinner. Then all of a sudden it was closed. I scoured the interwebs for information and found out they had closed due to a fire. I also stumbled upon their Yelp review. Being the good Samaritan that I am, I decided to post a brief review stating they were closed due to a fire. And that was the start of my long trip down the rabbit-hole that is the life of a Yelper. I noticed months ago that, after being closed for over a year, they have reopened. A visit and updated review was long overdue, and I finally got to check them out Friday night. While the atmosphere and menu are the same, the interior has been given a very nice facelift, complete with a new take out ordering station that has HDTVs displaying the menu. Since it had been so long since my last visit, I needed a second to refresh with the menu. I wanted to do a bit of a "sampling", and settles on 2 beef tongue (lengua) tacos, 2 pork and cheese pupusas, and the Salvadorean enchilada with chicken. The lengua tacos are AWESOME - up there with the best I have ever had. The pupusas are very nice - I still do prefer Guapo's pupusas, although I know Mi Casita's are more "authentic". I did like the curdito better though. The Salvadorean enchilada is nothing like a Mexican one - it's a fried, open-faced corn tortilla served with lettuce, chicken, curdito, and a few slices of hard-boiled egg on top. Very nice. When I went here before the closing I would frequently get their tamales, which are the real deal Holyfield. They are prepared the traditional Central American way, wrapped in plantain leaves. The chicken tamale is good, but the sweet corn tamale is out of this world. Definitely on my list for the next visit. Mi Casita will always hold a special place in my heart for bringing me into the wonderful world of Yelperism. But they also hold a special place in my tummy for having awesome authentic Mesoamerican eats. read more

This place replaced a Vietnamese restaurant. You can either eat in or carry-out. It is a very casual place. The food is pretty decent. They have rotisserie chicken and large variety of Mexican food. The rotisserie chicken was good, but I don't care for the fries they have there...order the yucca instead. My husband and I just went here for lunch. IF I HAD TO SOLELY RATE THE FOOD, IT WOULD BE A 5. HOWEVER! The service was completely awful. It wasn't due to a language barrier either, it was just terrible. We were seated right away, and our waitress took our drink orders. They came out right away, but since it was our first time there, it took us a little longer to browse the menu. I asked her for a few more minutes, and she said okay she'd be back. 13 minutes pass and still no sign of our girl, but I look over and see her messing with her phone, laughing and chatting with the other waitresses who were taking a break...2 minutes extra pass and she finally comes over again, and takes our orders. The food came out fairly quickly - it tasted good! I loved the red sauce on the table, yum. I got the chicken quesadillas and my husband got a burrito. Great taste! BUT - about 15 minutes after he ran out of his drink, he was dying of thirst and stopped eating. I was just drinking water, he drank some of mine and I also ran out. We waited forever (another 10 minutes) for someone to come get our drinks, and several decades pass, then I decided to go up to all the waitresses myself (our girl had vanished) and ask for a diet Coke for us, and our check. Someone else brought out the Coke, and another girl gave us our check. When we were leaving, our original waitress was standing there texting someone on her phone. Oh man words can't describe our time there. We got there at 12:50, and we're just now getting home. SO frustrating! I wanted to come back because the food is great, but I think I'll have to go with take-out next time. It might have just been OUR waitress-the other girls seemed very attentive-but it's enough to make me mad. Words cannot express how long we waited just to get a refill of a drink :( I felt like I had cobwebs on me, and our mouths were like the Sahara desert before we finally got a Coke! REOPENED!!! Mi Casita had a fire over a year ago and it took them a while to open back up, but they've been open for about a month now. I went last night and it was fantastic. The wait staff was incredibly cheerful, and the food was as delicious as ever. I think they even improved their salsa recipe because it was fresh and balanced with just a little kick. The food was amazing!!!! Got the combo fajitas. Steak quesadilla, chicken tenders and fries, and 5 pupusas. Now it took a minute for someone to come and ask our drink order. By the time they came we already had the chance to look at the menu and we knew it inside out. The drinks were so good. We got horchata, marañon, and maracuya. After the time it took to get our order taken we figured that it was going to take a minute for us to get our food. So we ordered an appetizer which was the steak nachos. After a good 10 minutes we got asked if we wanted chips we said yes. Then we got our drinks delivered. After some time we got our main meals then the appetizer. To get the check it was another time waiting. I was very disappointed on the time of the service. There were more than 4 waitress and when we got there there were only 2 tables to be waited on. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. I am sorry to say that I'm dropping my review of this place down to 3 stars, and it's a shame truthfully speaking. I don't know if I'm ordering the wrong menu items, or coming in at the wrong times, or maybe my taste buds have gotten stronger and have moved on to different type of Latin cuisine, but my last few visits here have just been average, at best. The chips and dip don't do it for me like they used to, and while the dinner items are still decent, their breakfast/lunch items just don't have it. Their huevos rancheros are small, and I still leave hungry afterwards, their other egg dishes didn't look well prepared, just heated and then served out. The refried beans were more watery than beany, and my rice was barely room temperature, it made me sad because I used to like this place a lot, and now, it's just, well, average. At least the wait staff is cute and friendly and I can still communicate with them because I like to practice my Spanish with them, and I hope they know while I'm not perfect, I do try. Mi Casita is 2 blocks from my condo, I've always heard it was amazing, but by the time I had moved back to Manassas, the building had caught fire and they had gone out of business. I noticed a few weeks ago that there was some activity going on, I assumed someone had bought the building and was going to put something new in. Imagine my surprise when Mi Casita opened back up. I've only been there once so far. The place looks good, nothing fancy, but it is clean. There are TV's everywhere, some have a slideshow of the menu items and the different combination options. The servers do have a language barrier, but they are friendly and smile a lot. I ordered lomo salado, my personal favorite. I ordered it with yucca and no tomatoes. Sadly, there were tomatoes in that box, but I sucked it up and picked them out. The steak was amazingly flavorful, the yucca crisp and not greasy at all, and the tortillas... oh my, the fresh tortillas, so yummy. I can't wait to get back there and try all of the yummy Latin classics! One word of advice, call your order in first. I stopped by on a whim, ordered and then waited about 25 minutes for my dinner. I've been trying to find a good rotisserie chicken in the Manassas area and I was really pleased with this one. I'm giving a 4 star because I felt that the yucca was a little old. I don't understand why this place has such good reviews. Maybe we just went at an off time or something. My fiancé had one of the house specialties. It had chicken and beef, both incredibly dried out, with shrimp... Which wasn't even peeled before it was cooked. Peeling it was messy and kind of gross, considering they still have the legs on them. I got something similar, but my meat was cut into strips and there were vegetables with it. The sauce was okay, but it didn't mask how dry the meat was. The rice was great. The French fries were buried underneath everything and completely soggy. Our waitress(es?) Didn't come by often and we were both out of drinks for a while. They were busy just chatting with each other and another customer. We won't be coming back, especially with all of the other nearby options. read more
