Staff (Amber) was pleasant and professional. Me and her each got three tacos apiece - her the vegan asada ($6), Brussels sprout ($6) and falafel tacos ($6). The falafel had a nice crunch, and the carne asada was very meat-like and tasty. The jerk chicken taco ($5.50) had a surprisingly slick kick, more than the honey habanero shrimp ($8). The chicken al pastor ($5) was perfectly decent. All 6 were well-stuffed - almost a sandwich worth in each. I was especially hungry going in and contemplated getting an appetizer; glad I didn't. I have been frequenting Zandra's for many years and am overall very satisfied with the experience. Last night, however, after hyping up the restaurant to my friend, she ordered a steak quesadilla. When the order arrived it was a cheese quesadilla with no steak. She very politely told the server about the mistake and they said they would make her a new one. Instead, they delivered her a bowl of pieces of steak, so she had to deconstruct her cheese quesadilla at the table (now cold) and add the steak herself. She was too politely to make a big deal of it but told me she was upset after the fact. I can't imagine ordering a quesadilla, being delivered the wrong type, and then forced to construct it myself at the table. It was weird and embarrassing and put a damper on a dinner we had been excited about. They were also very stingy on the sauces, including in a to-go order I ordered for my husband my husband. What a great way to end my business trip having lunch here before heading to the airport. This is not a text back or Mexican taco restaurant, it's a fusion of Americanized tacos that is worth the try, the restaurants inside is clean and modern, they have a patio on the second floor, which is really cozy and the service is amazing. I had four different taxes that day in every single one of them was delicious, the margaritas they have is a must try as well. We ate here during the last "First Friday" of the year and the place was close to packed, so that probably contributed to the marginal service and longish wait for food. We were on the roof, though, and had a nice view of the festivities, so not a huge deal. Our waitress was nice enough and the ambience on the roof was good. Mexican places that don't serve free chips kind of frustrate me, but we paid for the chips and they were quite tasty. The green salsa could have a touch more heat, but the chips were fresh and the salsa was pretty good overall. We also ordered the BBQ elote, which was also tasty, if a bit on the cold side by the time it showed up at our table. The drinks were a let down -- we both got the Cadallac Margarita and neither of us thought it was that great. It was too sweet by a mile and not very well balanced. I've had a bad run of luck with Margaritas the last few months, so maybe I should just stick to Whiskey drinks. On to the main course, which was pretty good. My wife got the burrito and it was good, especially with some of the salsa. Our waitress suggested mixing the two red salsas and I had that on one of my tacos and thought it was very good. For me, the chicken taco was a definite hit and the best thing I had. The beer battered rock fish was too small for the taco and was a little fishy on top of that. Still not bad with the green salsa. I also got the deep fried Brussel sprout taco. That was a major let down. Two Brussel sprouts for $5.50 is crazy. The flavor was OK, but wow, the value for money was not there. I also don't like that the only tableware option was plastic forks. A spoon for the salsa would have been nice and even aside from the potential harm of plastic, I just prefer eating with real utensils. All that said, I'd come back. The chicken taco was legit good. If you are going to do Tacos, study how it's authentically done. The Fajitas were so plain I had to order tacos, even the tortillas were flavorless. The jerk chicken had descent flavor but also under seasoned. The birria was better but not even in the top 10 of what you can find within a 3 mile radius of the restaurant. Visited Zandra's around like 4:30pm on Thursday and I was able to grab a sit as soon as I walked in. The space is seat yourself and you have to find street parking so be mindful of that if you come during peak hours of 5pm or later. The inside of the restaurant gives a small/medium sized bar vibe there is seating at the bar and also about 10 or so tables in the entire restaurant (unless there is another floor I didn't see). Our waitress/waiter was amazing, so so sweet. She made me a delicious and very creative mocktail: a spin on a pine colada and margarita, chef's kiss. My girlfriend had a mojito and enjoyed hers! For food: we had the buffalo chicken taco, smash burger, sweet fire shrimp, mango salasa (super fresh and tasty), and guacamole. The buffalo chicken taco had the two peppers next to it on the menu but wasn't too spicy more like a mild. The sweet fire shrimp that didn't have the peppers written next to it on the menu was hotter than the buffalo chicken. The smash burger was literally a patty on a taco, if that's your jam you will like it. The pickles on it are good but it's a bit much and one or two would be enough to fill you up. First time visit with friends on a weeknight around 5:30 pm. It wasn't crowded but people were coming in non-stop and it started to get crowded around 7:00. The service was great. I love the medium green salsa, and my husband can't get enough of the spicy salsa. He also loved the smoked pork belly taco, and my favorite vegan option is the brussel sprouts. We had three different servers behind the bar. While the first two were just ok, a little cocky actually.. David P was absolutely incredible! I struggled. First I was never given the free chips and salsa but other customers did receive it. I ordered the nachos and it came with a gross fake white cheese sauce. really icky. I then asked for another try on the nachos and asked them to just give me real cheddar cheese and they told me it would take an extra 30 minutes. Zandra's is pretty far from where I live, but I decided to come here because I had been to the Fairfax location when it was still open several years ago, and had great memories there, so I wanted to see if the food lived up to my memory of it. While I wouldn't say it quite lived up to what I remembered it to be, the food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken al pastor taco, skirt steak taco, and honey habanero shrimp taco. My favorite out of those three was the steak. It had good flavor, and I liked the sauce and the veggies. I did not love the chicken al pastor. It tasted okay, but I feel like it lacked overall flavor, and it was pretty greasy. The honey habanero shrimp was solid, and it tasted fresh. The ambiance was not exactly how I remembered it, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The lighting was interesting (and maybe not the best to take pictures of food), but I enjoyed the overall vibes of the restaurant. I thought the food was not priced terribly, but I wouldn't say it is the best deal. The service was great. Our server checked up on us often and he was very friendly. While I probably would not make the trek back out here again since it is so far away, I would come here again if I lived around Manassas to try out some of the other tacos. read more
