This is a very hard review to write because it's mixed. We have been going to Mi Cocina for years and the service is always wonderful and the food has always been OK - nothing stellar but a shade better than most of the Mexican joints around town (my wife doesn't like their meat very much but suffers through it for me). I've always gone there for their nicely sized California burrito, half of which I always take home for leftovers. So, acceptable food, good service, very nice family owned place. Somewhere in the past year or so they have gotten outrageously expensive and there's really no explanation for it because other restaurants we frequent haven't doubled or more in price, but Mi Cocina has. My last visit - which we both decided would be our last ever visit to Mi Cocina, we got my California Burrito, two ground beef tacos and two shredded beef flautas plus two Diet Cokes and it was $60.00. Since we also always tip heavier during the holidays, it brought LUNCH to nearly $80.00. This same meal a year ago was about 38.00 - which was still pricey but ok. The year before it was about 32.00. I double checked the receipt because I figured it must be a mistake but, nope, it wasn't. So, my friends at Mi Cocina, I've really enjoyed being a VERY regular customer for you for many years (at least 2-3 times a month) but must say goodbye, those prices are just too insane for standard Mexican fare. read more

Low quality ingredients (cheap) and then charge 20 dollars for a plate when the ingredients are no better than the Mexican fast food resteraunt on broadway and shouldnt be charging more than $15 for a burrito they undercooked some things but heavily over cooked other things in the burrito you can tell some things are pre cooked and have been sitting for days as I got sick from this place highly do not recommend this place the Mexican fast food place on broadway has equally as good of an ingredients and equally as good of a burrito for half the price and half the wait will not be coming back here read more

Very sad lunch. My whole office order various dishes for lunch today. It was so very disappointing. I ordered the vegetarian green chili. It was a spicy reddish pink broth with some chili pepper stems swimming in it. Even when I added the 12 cup of rice it was still much too thin. Another employee ordered tacos and got a taco salad. Another comment was about the $12 chips and queso being a very small portion of queso with a bunch of chips. Another employee stated her chili rellano was undercooked. I could go on and on. I ordered through Uber Eats at approx 7pm. My food arrived at around 8 (fine). The food was ICE COLD all the way through. It was a 7 minute trip to deliver so I know they were getting close to closing and served me ice cold food. Unfortunate that it happened after another disaster delivery tonight so I am extra angry. The service was poor at best. Once we got our food no one was to be seen after that. The food was just this side of edible. The steak fajitas had no seasoning on them at all. It was maybe 3 oz of meat and an absurd amount of bell peppers. The beans and rice looked and tasted like they were straight out of a bomb shelter survival kit. My boyfriend and I have been frequenting This restaurant for about a year now. On our last and final for a good visit there last week we were treated very rudely. The night manager who is a tall male with short, dark hair and glasses accused my boyfriend of always sending back his food and was very Confrontational and rude with my boyfriend and I. The waiter/manager looked like he was getting ready to be physically abusive with my boyfriend. We are disabled, and we were scared for our well-being. The man looked like he was on some type of drugs, and was pacing around the restaurant, and looks very unstable. Obviously, we love the food that is why we kept coming back. My boyfriend has various dietary restrictions, and they always prepare his order a certain way and this expectation at this visit was no different. The waiter kept accusing us of always sending food back and made a scene in front of other customers. Please be careful if you die in at this establishment and beware of the hotheaded tempers here that may be dangerous. read more

One of our favorite places. Sadly they just raised the prices, combinations are now $19 or $20. Mexican hamburger was up to $24. They also took away the free drink for the lunch specials, which now cost $14. What normally costs our family of 6 around $50, cost us $77 this weekend. I came in on Tuesday, December 5 to pick up a Tygo order. The manager on duty who was tall with short dark hair was very rude and unprofessional. I heard him in the back, cursing up a storm with the door open in the kitchen. His eyes looked very dilated, almost like he was high on some type of drug. I asked about my order and how the items were. He became very irate and said hey man, if you don't like how we do things here you don't have to come here. I gave him cash, and he threw my change at me and was looking at me like he wanted to brawl or something. I do not participate in that type of behavior, so I left and I will never be back even though I enjoy the food. I hope they reprimand or terminate this man because he is promoting harm to their business. read more

If you can squeeze into their tight parking lot, this Tex-Mex eatery has some decent options for hungry souls. I've been here twice for dinner and each time my food was great. I've had the smothered sopapilla, the chicken flautas appetizer, and last time I had the enchilada plate. Best thing is the rice and beans, and their margaritas look amazing as well. This used to be our regular go-to place for a quick Mexican lunch near our work. Covid did a number on it like everything else I think. We went back a few weeks ago and literally the staff acted like they wished they could shoo us out the door. They reluctantly got our party of 5 a table, would not wait on us, took almost 30 minutes to bring our food. They were surly and impolite as well. We've never been anything but nice to them and always gave them good tips, so I can only imagine it's the same as everywhere else - understaffed and busy without enough people to deal with it. Sooo. I just so happened to come upon this place. I was on my way to the carwash and I just so happened to be at the stoplight when I looked over and saw margaritas, beer, and Mexican food. I wasn't hungry and I wasn't really looking for a margarita, but it was the weekend and I decided to say why not? I went in and had the most delicious watermelon margarita I've ever had in my entire life and ended up having the most delicious street tacos that I've ever had in my entire life. I'm from California, Los Angeles to be specific. And I have tried mannnnny different restaurants, but this is different. And whatever small city this is on Bellevue. Is the most amazing Mexican food I have ever had in my entire life! Stopped in for the breakfast burrito of the day- Chorizo . Very middle of the road uninspired.

I'm only giving two stars cause the corona was $1!! First, the food, not good....but the chips and salsa was. I'd have to say, let's get a health inspection ASAP!! Watched the girls play on their phones rather than tend to the customers....there was only two of them...and about 14-16 people in the place....watched one man leave his table and come to the bar to order his food. one of the girls was constantly picking at the corner of her eyes....never once saw her wash her hands....and they we're both on their cells....which is the dirtiest thing on the planet!! look it up! It makes me sad to leave bad reviews, but if it's this bad....it needs to be done. If they act like this in front of customers....I'd hate to see what's going on in the kitchen!! It's kinda hard to miss Mi Cocina. The exterior is all in-your-face orange and turquoise, with some pretty cute chrysanthemum-filled planters. If the food is shit, they're screaming at you to come sample the shitness. Happily, the food is not shit. It's actually pretty good. For me, any Mexican restaurant's chips and salsa are a good indication of what's to come, and I admit, I'm a pretty low-brow low-expectation eater. Here, the salsa was watery but flavorful. The chips were roof-of-mouth-meltingly-hot but also pretty greasy. Not bad though. I opted for the steak fajitas ($12ish), and he wanted the combination platter thing with chili relleno, tamale, enchilada and something else I can't remember ($9ish). Initially, portion sizes looked a lil skimpy, but we were both full when we left. The steak in my fajitas tasted great but it was a little chewy. The tortillas were beautiful though - big, super soft and nicely charred. He said everything on his plate was "Good to very good." Service was outstanding. Very good food and great prices. The server working was fantastic. The corona (special) was 1$ if your meal was over 8$ and it was sooo comfy. Very little foot traffic in there so service was quick and on point. Everyone should know about this gem....not too many good mexican food places in colorado. And me being from Cali, this place is the new and only spot ive found to remind me of home. Oh also, it was freezing in there which on a hot day, like today, is soooo welcome. I absolutely love their $2.00 breakfast burritos. I always try to stop in if I am in the area to scarf down on their amazing tortilla hugged delights. Their dinner combination plates are quite good as well. My girlfriend had the Chili Rellano Plate and I had the Tamale plate smothered in green chili. Both of us joined the "Clean-Plate-Club" as it was so good. I really enjoyed the sopapillas. Fluffy, large and sweet with honey and butter. The best way to finish off a Mexican dinner. The atmosphere is not high class, so hoodies and t-shirt attire is perfect. My girlfriend and I usually stop here after putt putting at Colorado Journey Miniature Golf Course.
