I placed an order via DoorDash, as this restaurant is located near my job. I ordered the taco plate, which comes with 3 tacos (mix and match) topped with onions and cilantro, served with rice and beans. I opted for two steak tacos and one al pastor taco. I also opted for additional toppings - lettuce, sour cream and shredded cheese (Soy gringa!). While the Dasher was at the store, they advised me that the restaurant said it will take a little longer than expected and he apologized on their behalf. I'm not sure if it's customary for them to include chips and salsa with every order, but that was a pleasant surprise. My additional toppings were not added to the tacos but came served on the side. The portion sizes were generous for the lettuce, cheese and sour cream. The tacos themselves were flavorful with generous portions of tender meat, and everything tasted fresh. I demolished the rice and beans first. They were really good as well. I will gladly order for them again in the future. read more

I've passed by this restaurant in an industrial complex in Carmel without knowing it was here. Thank goodness my Yelp friends had found it. We came for a late Sunday lunch and ate out on the patio to enjoy the beautiful weather and birds. Our server, Miguel, was friendly, attentive and a bit of a comedian. The service was exceptional 5 star. The food came out super quick. Miguel checked on us several times. The menu is filled with traditional Mexican favorites. Prices are reasonable, especially the lunch specials. Complimentary chips are thin and fresh. The salsa is chunky and flavorful. I had the Beef Chimichanga lunch special. The Chimichanga was packed with ground beef. The guacamole and salad is really delicious. The fried beans were fresh! My wife and I came in here for an impromptu dinner night and weren't impressed at all. To start the service was very slow - our waitress could hardly talk with us due to the language barrier. I was very impressed with how beautiful and clean this establishment is. The tables weren't sticky, no crumbs on the seats/ floors and the menu had lots of options. The restaurant was decorated very cute for Halloween, the staff was lovely upon us walking in. However, after we got our food the service was extremely slow. We were the only customers in the restaurant and didn't see a waiter for about 20 minutes. We are generally very patient but it did get frustrating. The staff were attentive and friendly. They checked on us regularly throughout the meal. The menu was overwhelming. Far too many options and combinations on the menu for a small restaurant. Chef Gordon Ramsey would have gone ballistic. He believes in offering a small number of high quality entrees - not dozens served as mediocre. The salsa was tasty, and the chips were crispy. The rice was bland, the beans were few, and the red sauce on the enchiladas was uninspiring. The guacamole was better when combined with the salsa. I don't know if the restaurant was having a bad night on 5/10 or the service and food was normal. Our service was terrible. The waiter never came to check on us. We had to flag down other wait staff to assist us. Our kid's meal had plastic wrap in the quesadilla. Our grandchild kept chewing on something and we finally noticed it was plastic wrap. Two meals out of the four were barely warm. The cheese enchilada still had a block of cheese inside and wasn't melted. We also discovered the enchilada dish had plastic wrap in it when we were warming it up next day for lunch. The food was average but our biggest concern was the plastic wrap embedded in the meals. We visited this restaurant over the Grand Park soccer tournament. They kindly accommodated 40 of us at this restaurant. They were happy to take our reservation and took care of our whole team with a friendly smile. Our server Miguel was super patient and nice. Miguel took our orders by player numbers despite us all sitting separately. Miguel and his staff did a great job serving us all night. There were moments where we had to remind them of getting us some water but overall service was good. The ambiance was moderate noise level considering majority of the noise came from our side of the restaurant. There were some minor food order issues but I would say they delivered 95% accuracy with the food orders. The food was fresh and authentic. The drinks were nicely made with the right amount of alcohol. We really enjoyed the food and the service. The steak street tacos could have used more onions and cilantro but overall pretty tasty and correct portions. The chips were a little stale but the salsa was tasty and spicy as we had hoped for. I highly recommend this place for large parties, family or friends gathering. They accommodate large parties and take reservations. read more

Pretty good! Is it rude to say that my expectations are always low when visiting a new Mexican restaurant in Indiana? But this time, I was very pleasantly surprised. Mi Hacienda has good Mexican food. I got the chicken mole enchiladas, and the mole was rich and thick, and the chicken was tasty and bite-sized. There's little worse than huge chunks of chicken in an enchilada -- them things need to be small. The enchiladas came with a side of rice and beans, and both tasted great. We also got the Texas fajitas (very good), and a bean, rice and cheese burrito. The BRC is not on the menu, but I ordered it and then proceeded to hold my breath while crossing my fingers, hoping they would understand what I was asking for (a burrito) and that they would make it. And they did! It's always a gamble to order a burrito at a Mexican restaurant in the Midwest, because the definition of "burrito" seems to be fluid around this area. But they will make you a BRC burrito here, and it is actually very good. The restaurant dining room is very colorful inside, and there's a bar area, too. I didn't dine in this time -- I just got the food to go. They were pretty busy when I visited on a weekday, but I didn't have to wait too long for my order. If anything, the quantity was less than expected from a Mexican restaurant. The chimi's were a little larger than an egg roll but tasted great. They had a steady stream for lunch on a Thursday, but we were greeted immediately, sat at a table, and drinks ordered. Chips and salsa appeared within a few minutes. The chips are thicker and crispy and the salsa has a nice kick to it without being too spicy. The mole was good, but the chicken was hit or miss with some chewy pieces. Quick, hot, delicious would describe the lunch I had at Mi Hacienda. The chicken soup was all I needed on this cold day. The fresh avocado and spot of lime was so fresh with the chunks of shredded chicken and veggies. My husband enjoyed his chicken con pollo, and my daughter liked her taco, rice, and beans. The server was kind enough to confirm if the kid wanted any lettuce so we didn't have to pick it out later. The fajitas from the other table came out sizzling, and smelled great. The chips were thin and fresh. The salsa was mild and had just the right crunch of onion. I'm a fan! In search of some authentic Mexican food on the northside of Indy, I noticed this place was pretty highly-rated on Yelp so decided to give it a try. We dined in, and they had every other table blocked off per COVID precautions. For drinks, my girlfriend got a happy hour margarita ($4) and it was very strong (but she still liked it!). The draft beers included Miller Lite, Coors Light, Dos Equis Amber and Modelo. I was hoping to have a Dos Equis Lager, but settled for the Modelo as I wanted a draft beer (they had Dos Equis Lager in bottles). Sizes include 16, 24 and 32 oz for the draft beers. The complimentary chips and salsa arrived just about as soon as we sat down at the table. The chips were warm, which is always a plus, and we began to fill up quickly on the salsa (who doesn't with the free chips/salsa??). The menu has the standard extensive options that you find at any American-authentic Mexican restaurant. My go-to at a Mexican restaurant is usually always the chicken, rice and queso dish, so I stuck with that. My girlfriend went with the chicken fajitas. She really enjoyed the chicken fajitas, and thought it had a good ratio of chicken to vegetables and other ingredients. She added white queso on top, which complemented it well. However, my chicken, rice and queso was pretty bleh. For some reason, the seasoning on the chicken was just off for me, and by off, I mean it had a weird after taste to it, that not even the queso could mask. For that reason, I was a little disappointed with my dish. But my girlfriend enjoyed hers, so maybe I just need to try something else next time. I was expecting just run-of-the-mill basic Mexican restaurant fair for Indiana. But, first of all the staff and the owners are just so nice and so welcoming and very informative. They will help you decide on just the right order if you'd like. I went big and decided to try their Mole. Mole is not the simplest dish to create and can vary greatly. Well! This is definitely the place I would get mole again. I had their enchilada mole. The chicken breast was so fresh tasting with a lovely grill and delicious seasonings. Very different from run-of-the-mill Haciendas. All of the food was so delicious. They won me over and this will be my go to. It may not be the most decorative ambiance but I go for the food. Excited to try other dishes also but it will be hard to resist my Enchiladas Mole. My friend and I were there for an extended amount of time chatting & catching up and they never rushed us. So kind. After seeing Mi Hacienda listed as one of Yelp's top restaurants in Hamilton County last year, it's been at the top of my list. From photos, I've seen that they have an awesome back patio that looks out over a pond, but this time, I stopped in for carryout (COVID19 and all). I loved how easy it was to order off of DoorDash on their website, which lelt us choose between pick up and delivery. I also loved that you can add a note next to each item you add to your basket, and that you can get a half portion of queso. When I arrived 15 minutes later, my order was sitting on a table with my name, ready for me to pick up and go. Nice! We went with the 1/2 order of cheese dip (queso blanco), guacamole, carne asada, and pollo fundido. The carne asada came with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole and tomatoes. I liked how they packaged the hot and cold ingredients separately to keep all food in tact for the drive home. I'm a big queso girl and this queso was perfect. Mild, liquidy and blanco. Delicious, as were the chips that I asked to come with it. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned as well and the whole meal was delish. I'm excited to go back eventually and dine in as well. Passed right by this restaurant even though I was looking for it. It's in a random strip mall among a bunch of office parks pretty far west of downtown Carmel. Overall, I was unimpressed by most everything but happier with the food than I expected, which is unusual for me. The restaurant is smaller than it looks like from the outside and based on some of the other reviews, which has this as among the best Mexican places in Carmel. I waited a while to be seated on a Sunday at lunchtime. No hostess. One guy manning all the tables, maybe 12-15 in total, about half of which were full, two with large parties. So he had his hands full. Another man was the food runner/salsa-and-chips bringer. At one point he unceremoniously dumped a dirty glass and sent some kind of liquid and half-melted ice skittering across the floor. Happens. I didn't wait an excessive amount of time for service. I ordered Enchiladas Super Mi Hacienda, which was a plate of five enchiladas - cheese, chicken, beef, bean, and shredded beef. topped with salad. No rice and beans with it. I didn't wait very long for them to come from the kitchen, so they were pre-made, but they seemed fresh. Moderately priced, and they tasted about 50% better than I expected. These weren't your typical bland Midwest enchiladas you can get anywhere. I thought they tasted good and were pretty filling. I ordered it with an iced tea with lemon, the waiter put a lime in it. Cool. Happens. In the end this was pretty standard for a mom and pop's Mexi place in central Indiana. Not enough employees, good food, which brings more customers, which contributes to there being not enough employees. But everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and the employees were polite and did their best to hussle. Can't ask for much more. read more

I frequent Mexican food often. Sometimes weekly. Margaritas and queso are my love language. I have been to many Mexican restaurants all around town and this is far and away my favorite. I live in So Bro but will be driving to Carmel when my Mexican hankering hits. I don't like my margs to be sweet so if I am a first timer at a restaurant, I generally order a corona to cut the sugar. Well, what do you know? I didn't even need the corona in the texas margarita I ordered there. SO good. The server joked about how it looks like rust water. It describes the color perfectly. Don't let that sway you! It is SO good. The queso is the star of the show for me at Mi Hacienda. It is not too liquidy and they don't skimp on their bowl sizes. Their salsa is freshhh and they keep the chips coming. Love that you can mix and match taco options. The decor is so vibrant and they have plenty of booths. The service is wonderful and so friendly. I've already returned since going for the first time last month and it will definitely be in the regular rotation for me. Weird location in a nondescript office area but good food and friendly staff. One of the reasons we chose Mi Hacienda was because it had a patio and we wanted to enjoy the lovely June weather. The photos on Yelp shows a lovely patio overlooking a pond. The server gave us a side-eye when we asked to sit outside but obligingly escorted us through the restaurant and out the back door. I was surprised to find the patio empty. Well, as soon as we walked outside, about a hundred Canadian geese came running towards us looking for handouts ! Apparently forgetting they can fly, the hoard was bamboozled by the patio's fence. Feeling safe inside our wrought iron pen, we ate a nice dinner (tasty fajitas) while the goose gawkers looked on. Another great experience at Mi Hacienda! This time i tried the Enchiladas Verde and they were probably the best enchiladas I've around town! The grilled chicken in the was really good, and they were topped with nacho cheese, verde sauce, and sour cream. I also always appreciate the large bowl of salsa they bring out with the chips.
