This review is long overdue. I have been coming for years and the food never disappoints. Everything is made to order. My favorite go to plates are the Chilaquiles Michoacanos with Chicken Instead Add Avocado and no Egg. In addition to the camarones Chipotle! Both plates are to die for ! Me and my family love coming here to just gather and eat together when we get the chance. It's also a great place to come if you want to hang with friends and have some Mariscos and alcoholic drinks. There micheladas are bomb Af ! They have a wide variety of food choices from breakfast, lunch, dinner and seafood. They are a bit on the pricier side but it's all worth it. You can taste it by the quality of their food. The weekends are always busy so it might be hard to find parking since there parking lot is not that big. Customer service is always on point there so tentative even where there busy but they let you know I'll be right with you. My favorite waitress is Diana she is the best and makes the best michelada she has that magical touch ! They also offer fresh squeezed orange juice. Ambience is always great here. read more

I decided to try this place based on all the good reviews. I must say the food was delicious and the waitress was so nice and attentive.

This may be a tiny cafe but it deserved a big review! Pure luck. We were going to eat Mexican food elsewhere, but at the last minute I made an executive decision, actually more like a coup, and GPS'd the car here instead. Yelp made me do it. It stands on its own, a little, nondescript building recessed from view on a major street. It is not particularly compelling, their signage is obstructed by shrubbery. You must park in the back, which we noted was set up to be incredibly well lit at night, not that it appears to be in a bad neighborhood, but it seems security is definitely in the back of their mind. The most amazing discoveries on the menu were two fine dishes that *rarely* do I find cooked to my liking. Lengua. Not only was the tongue tender, but the Ranchera sauce was beyond reproach, tomatoey rich, well seasoned, and savory. They took it to the next level by simmering that tongue in the sauce, not just plating it with the sauce poured over it. This is the first presentation I have truly enjoyed in a long, long time. If you are not drooling by now, you should be. Costillas de Puerco. You can choose either a red or green sauce. I love tangy tomatillo anything, so it was the spicy Verde for me. Those in the know, know that costillas are tasty tidbits of succulent pork ribs. Like the lengua, it was properly simmered to marry the flavors. Such a delight! There was a third winner, the Caldo de Res, which I did not taste. However, our Filipino DIL confirmed it was a very good choice. There were generous chunks of lean but tender beef surrounded with a clear beef broth and large chunks of vegetables. She said it was as good as Bulalo, a Filipino boiled beef soup. Oh yeah...and the refried beans were delicious too. Not to bring you down from this euphoria, but our taco-eating son was not as enthusiastic. He ordered asada, al pastor, and chicken street tacos, a mere $1.25 ea. While he raved over the handmade corn tortillas, his opinion of the taco fillings were less than enthusiastic. They were out of carnitas and cabesa, so there is still hope. Based on this meal, I have no doubt we will be frequent patrons. read more

Parking in the back, but it is tight; spaces are few. The restaurant is small, hospitality is awesome. Tables are few, but no waiting when we came in. Families and singles are patrons. We immediately were seated and the waitress gave us chips and hot salsa, yummy! There were only three waitresses. They were efficiently working and had a great rhythm in service. These three girls served as hostesses, busboys, waitresses, bartenders and cashiers. The food was served with a smile and fast. Food was flavorful and my flautas were filled with shredded beef which also had a red sauce, delicious. Guacamole fresh and enough to drench the crispy flauta flour tortilla. There are two flautas with rice and beans and small green portion of lettuce with a cucumber for the price. My husband ordered the Tampico plate and looked superb. It had rice/beans, one red enchilada, the meat, flour tortillas and same lettuce small side salad. Margarita on the rocks a bit sweet for our taste, but ok. The Jamaica drink was good and refreshing. Came to have dinner here on a Wednesday with a friend. The restaurant is small and it's a casual place. Not high end. The food is decent but it isn't great. It's average in my opinion. This of course coming from someone that eats Mexican food on the daily. The Mariscos Costa Azul had shrimp wrapped in bacon. The bacon was very dry and a bit hard. Overall the food was good. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and I will be returning. The service was average. Not great. Our waitress dropped off the food and came by once to see how things were and never returned until we flagged her down to provide us our check. Are they still helping you? So that I can let the waitress know I'm here to pick up. The waitress looked at me with such nasty attitude and responded with a nasty tone "give a second ok". But she was so nasty with treating me that way I will never return. Not friendly at all. She shouldn't be treating the public/customers in such disgusting way. The salsa and chips were excellent. The service it's also great. It does gets a little crowded but you can also order to go. The place is rather unexpected from the outside, but once inside, the demeanor changes. The food is always delightful and I struggle to order anything but the pozole. The staff is habitually friendly and the prices are decent. We only have come in for breakfast but probably should spring for a good ol michelada sometime. This place was so dang good ! We ordered a couple different things; The quesadilla, molcajete, and the side of beef taquitos. Loved the quesadilla because it was a white cheese and not just American cheddar. Molcajete had the best dang juice/sauce at the bottom, and it was so huge it was worth the price. This place definitely serves some of the better tacos in Riverside. The tortillas for their tacos are made in house as well as their salsa -- they're both pretty good. I usually get the carne asada or adobada taco priced at $2 each. I tried potato tacos for the first time in my life here, which are worth trying at least once if you haven't had it before. Also, their red enchiladas are fairly good. The mole and their green sauce are both very, very spicy - so beware if you order anything with green sauce on it. There are a few things about this place that knock it down a star or two. First of all, they have a really small parking lot in the back. If you go during peak dining hours, you most likely will have to park at George's and walk over. Also, the restaurant is bit dirty and dated. I'm not saying that all dirty restaurants are bad -- but it's dirty enough where I will hold off on using the restroom even if nature calls. Overall, I think I go back because of their complementary chips & salsa and the friendly servers. They usually have some telenovela or sports game playing on their TV screens. This restaurant has a homely feel, so despite its subpar cleanliness, I keep going back for more -- I just remember to use the restroom before I get there. *side note: they charge a fee for all credit card transactions read more
