Really solid taco spot!!! Came here for takeout and the food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The flautas were very good, I've never had chicken seasoned that well in a flauta lol. This is a hole in the wall gem of a taco spot. Review based on the quality of the soft street tacos this place produces. The tongue and res (beef) are fantastic. Very distinct flavors from fresh ingredients due to the high turnover. I've tried the pork and it's is pretty flavorful albeit a bit salty for me. The fresh tortilla, radish and lime help to balance the saltiness. Been coming here for years, shame on me for not putting this out sooner. read more

Num num num...Eat 24 sent me an email for $5 off at least $10 if I paid with Android pay...so I scrolled thru the app and saw this place has flautas, which I haven't had in a while, and I had less than zero desire to cook since it's so dang hot. I ordered the steak flautas and one of their water juice things...I originally wanted mint, but they called me and stated they were out, so I chose lemon. In spite of that shenaniganry, my food was delivered in less than half an hour (far less than the quoted 45-60 min) and a few minutes ahead of the promised time on the app...and I don't exactly live right around the corner...more like up the stairs and over the parkway...so color me impressed. The steak flautas were delicious. The salad it comes with was kinda mixed in with it since it probably shifted in transit but was still damn tasty. If this was circa 2015, the peak of my cemita habit, the outcome might have different, but I opted for the mole criollo de pollo. This had an exceptional sauce, on the spicier side of the mole spectrum. I think the food is really overpriced for what it is but I'm guessing it's the neighborhood. The food wasn't bad, I just don't think it should cost that much for this little hole in the wall. The waitress was extremely nice and let us use their restroom (extremely clean I might add) which we know for certain is not for public use because you have to cross through the kitchen and go down the basement and they literally have a table set up that they're cooking or cutting on and they have to stop what they're doing for me to come back upstairs after using the restroom. Talk about great Mexican food for a good price! Loooove the "organized nachos" as I call them.. because my biggest pet peeve with nachos elsewhere is that nacho to cheese and toppings ratio. Everything is thrown on the top and all you are left with are soggy nachos on the bottom. Not these!!! Let me tell you... each nacho chip is topped with the perfect amount of beans, cheese, jalapeño and meat of choice (chorizo is mine), they are served with lettuce, source cream and guac!! Absolute perfection! The other items are also good like the tacos, breaded chicken platter, Carne asada and tortas! Service isn't very friendly but serves its basic purpose. Don't be fooled by the small interior. This is a great little Mexican restaurant hidden on 231st! You can take out or eat in -- seems like most people probably take their food to go, since the woman working there has to double as counter person and waitress. We decided to eat there for the first time and really enjoyed the food. Tacos were delicious (I did the three meats), but would probably opt for 3 different tacos next time. I was exploring this corner of NYC that I never had the pleasure of walking around before. I had a steak burrito with a bottle of pineapple Jarritos. Very satisfying meal. The burrito was HUGE. I almost couldn't finish it! Filled with tender steak and cheese and whatever else goes in a burrito LOL. The refried beans were very good...(many times I am turned off by refried beans). The rice was moist and freshly cooked. There was some lettuce chunks and a fresh slice of avocado and tomato. The bowl of chips were good as was the spicy sauce. This is my 2nd trip to this authentic local spot. They have amazing tacos, amongst other things, and have daily specials as well. They would get 5 stars if they had beer. The svc can use an improvement bc the person behind the counter is taking table orders as well as phone orders, which obviously effects the svc. But all in all its tolerable. I have been coming here for a few years now, and have always had a great experience. The restaurant is owned by a local family, a traditional "mom and pop" shop; the staff is always very friendly and helpful. Today I had the homemade tamales, the tacos and a tostada. They do deliver 'up the hill.' They're now part of GrubHub so that will help the language and delivery issues we had once. UPDATE a year later ... I'm upgrading to 5 star from 4 as I keep returning. Their food is fresh, consistent, authentic and seems to be a family run made-with-heart kind of place. UPDATE two years later ...
