I came here for dinner, and this was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to! Being from California, I definitely missed the Mexican food scene, so I wanted to try Taqueria Tlaxcalli to taste a bite of home. When we entered, we were greeted with kind smiles from the ladies and they welcomed us to sit at any free table. Inside has lots of decor with ample seating. We sat and a server grabbed us menus. We got a carnitas burrito, grilled cactus side, horchata, and strawberry limeade (per her recommendation). Everything came so fast, and they even split the burrito for us! Oh my god, everything was so good. This has to be one of the BEST burritos I have ever had, comparable to the ones in San Diego. I love carnitas, and they do it so well here. It was tender, flavorful, just the perfect amount of sauce and seasoning! And the horchata was the best I have ever had too! The strawberry limeade was refreshing, and the grilled cactus was good! Yesterday's brunch: Chilaquiles verdes with Cecina (salty beef), a side of black beans with queso fresco, and a Limeade with mint from @taqueriatlaxcallibx Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the salsa verde had just the right kick to it. The portion size was excellent, though I would have preferred a little less onions in the dish, as they overpowered the overall taste of the chilaquiles just a little bit. The black beans were also well seasoned and the queso fresco topping was the perfect finishing touch for the side dish. The Limeade was refreshing and flavorful, and a great pairing for the whole meal. This is my new go to Mexican spot to order from! I ordered from Uber eats and have to comment on the service. I requested the vegetarian food be packaged separately me they did a lovely job. I'm sure the restaurant itself has wonderful service. I wish I could comment on the restaurant ambiance but am sure it's similar to being in Mexico The food was excellent. I wish I had it fresh. The chimichanga was so good! The veggies were fresh and they didn't just stuff it with mushrooms. It was filled with peppers, onions, corn, cilantro and zucchini. The food is consistently delicious. I usually go for the carnitas tacos but this time I decided to try the taco árabes. Great tasting food. Everything i've tried I enjoyed. The tacos, burritos, taco salad, flautas, etc etc... you can't go wrong. My favorite is the carnitas and al pastor. If you ask them to grill it up well done the way I like my al pastor is nice and crispy/charred. Service is quick, the place is small but I mainly order to go or delivery. Staff is always nice and attentive. My only complaint is the prices are getting higher so I will have to order from here much less. Although it's hard to beat the taste, there are other mexican places in the area are decent enough to compete especially at like half the price. read more

I love Taqueria Tlaxcalli & have frequented here before but I will say it's a hit or miss. For instance, I've had their burritos several times & they've always been great. However, I ordered the chicken quesadilla & honestly it was average at best & lacked flavor albeit the quality was still good. My chimichanga was delicious - crispy golden exterior, full of a nice variety of veggies, beans, and cheese. The salsas on top were also really tasty, with a tiny amount of heat from the orange chipotle one. This is also maybe the only Mexican restaurant I've been to in the city that does complimentary chips and salsa - the chips are definitely made fresh. Taqueria Tlaxcalli was an elite level taco/burrito meal and well-worth the visit. The restaurant is quite small with a number of 2-3 person tables and narrow, with Mexican music playing. They have options for dining in or taking out and were quite efficient We went with a burrito and a few tacos - the burrito is massive, I would say it's meant for two people at once and filled with rice, meat, vegetables, thick flour tortilla and covered with different sauces - it is very heavy! The tacos are Mexican-style with meat and vegetarian options and were simply delicious. The meats we got - carnitas, steak, chicken were all cooked great with tender juiciness. They gave ample lime and sauces to pair as needed. Prices felt reasonable. Located in Little Bangladesh by a bunch of little markets, this was a bright, unassuming space that was nicely decorated for Easter. They started us off with some warm corn chips and salsa that tasted like it had come fresh straight from a tomato. The burrito had some fun tasting pineapple and was drenched in a flavorful sauce. Our goal for 2025 was to try local favorites in every borough and this was our pick for our friday nite date nite! Let me just say it did not disappoint. From the colorful aesthetic, the welcoming service and amazing food that was incredibly tasty! We ordered the fresh guacamole (spicy) and they also gave us salsa and chips which was delicious! The guacamole definitely had a kick to it from the jalapeño. For our main dish we got the chicken, asada & birria tacos which were garnished with cilantro and onions. The meat was very tender and the flavors of each taco were distinct and full of flavor. Also ordered the chicken sopes which were also very good and I just loved how fresh everything tasted. We even got a side of rice and beans to share. This place is definitely a gem and I can see why it's local favorite. I ordered a burrito with Al Pastor (spicy pork with pineapple) in Chimichanga style (extra $2.50). It was simply delicious. There were small chunks of pineapple that was refreshing. They drizzled two kind of sauces over the fried exterior that added a nice creaminess. FYI - the restroom was very clean! Also, want to give a shout-out to the well designed awning. Came here around 4pm for a party of 2. We were seated immediately. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our waters filled. They give you nachos and a dip for the table. Those were also really good. Very crispy and fresh. We ordered 2 chicken Al pastor tacos, an order of birria tacos(comes with 2) and one steak burrito. The chicken al pastor taco had a perfect balance of flavors due to the pineapple that gave it the subtle sweetness. The chicken was cooked perfectly (not too dry or too crispy). The birria tacos were also really tasty. The meat in it was soft and crispy. The consomé had a hint of cinnamon which was delicious! The steak burrito was also really good. The steak in it was crispy. All the ingredients in it were also really good. We added guacamole and jalapeño. Next time I would not get the jalapeño in it as it was somewhat overbearing, but still really good. Found this spot in an article claiming it is one of the best burritos in the country(agreed). We took a long train ride and were greeted by the amazing staff and got a comfy seat in the AC. Classic tree of flavorful salsas that reminded me of CDMX. The chipotle salsa was my fave! Usually a good sign of what's to come. The chicken tostada was light and delicious! The shrimp taco is my favorite! Pair it with the spicy quac and chips and u bae yourself a meal for now and a snack for later. The place is small but intimate and is hardly ever empty. This place is a must-go in the Bronx off of Castlehill Ave. You walk right into Bangladesh town, but you can't miss this place at all. I would've given this place 5-stars, but the wait time for pick-up was outstanding. I ordered at 8:30 pm and was told to come back in half an hour; that was the wrong move, I didn't get my order until 10 pm, but I will say the food was hot and tasted great. After learning about this place years ago, my husband and I finally got to try it out. The food was absolutely delicious, our server was friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. We had a feast and a good time. Guacamole- was yummy, creamy and paired well with the warm tortilla chips. Simple, but lots of flavor. Drinks - We got strawberry and cucumber mint limeades. Super refreshing and a sweet treat. Burritos - My husband got the chicken and I got the veggie. Both were phenomenal. I loved the sauces drizzled on top. Everything was seasoned well and the flavors really popped. The portions are huge, so we got to take half of our burritos home and enjoy them later. They reheated well! Plantains - Unfortunately, this is the one thing I wouldn't order again. The portion size was great and I loved how much garlic they sprinkled on top, but they were over-fried and very hard. Tres Leches Cake - So, so delicious. One of the best I've ever had!
