The sides are served family style, which is dangerous for me, because I could easily take down a family's worth of creamy coleslaw, white beans with red pepper relish, and hushpuppies before my catfish even has an opportunity to get to the table. Those hushpuppies..... soooooo good! Nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Large parking lot out front with the iconic Catfish statue alerting everyone that they got the right place for catfish. The interior is unassuming, and according to my dad, hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. It's clean though, and in my opinion, if you have a good thing going, then why change? Sadly, Music City lost a reliable purveyor of unique seafood that still lives on in Clarksville in an equally humble space. And thank heavens it does! I've been planning to visit Little's for about 10 years now to complete my experiment with fried alligator and fried frog legs. And I finally got to put their products to the test with a two-hour, round-trip drive followed by a full scale cooking test at home. I acquired the alligator meat and frog legs in the frozen section of this tiny store, items you simply cannot find in Nashville. I also couldn't resists the breaded fried clams also in the freezer. And I went home to commence an extensive culinary adventure. I leaped into Leap Day of 2024 by frying up my secret recipe for Nashville Hot Frog Legs. And thanks to Little's selling frog legs of exceptional quality, this is one of the best things I've cooked in the last five years! Juicer than chicken, good enough to win competitions, and worthy of starting my own food truck, this would have been impossible without such an impeccable product! And the best-kept secret might just be their frozen fried clams, nearly as good coming out of my deep fryer as the best versions I've had in Maine and Massachusetts! They were pink inside and I have had a lot of chicken livers in my life none like these! The catfish was tough and I couldn't find one thing on the bar that even looked good. Everything is bland and the glazed carrots on the buffet were so tough and shriveled up that looked like they had been sitting for days. None of the vegetables looked good. They have a dessert bar as well with ice cream, but this is where I drew the line. When we walked over there to get dessert there was a piece of chocolate cake sitting there. We almost grabbed it until we see gnats flying out of the cake. They weren't on top of it they were flying from the inside of the cake, almost as if they have been living inside of the cake. If you look at the pecan pie picture you can see the gnat on the plate but the chocolate cake if you zoom in you can clearly see the gnats on it. Disgusting to say the least and regret even stopping in! One of the nastiest buffets I think I have been to and after spending $45.00 we should have just got us a pizza and called it a day!
