In what world should 2 breakfast burritos (no extra meats, no extra cheeses) cost me $25 without drinks. Hash-browns in your breakfast burrito, that's extra. Pico de gallo, extra. I was visiting a friend in Clarksville. I'm from Texas so I'm a Mexican food fanatic. This place is a California style Mexican food so it's different from the Tex-Mex that I'm used to but it was delicious. I got the bean nachos. The plate of nachos was enormous and full of toppings. Everything tasted great. The salsa bar has several levels of heat and I especially loved the mild salsa because I cannot handle spice. Wow! On my next-to-last day in Clarksville I found this place. Somehow, I was expecting a dive, but it's not. The food took me back in time to when we used to make a run after high school to Roberto's in El Cajon, CA. Perfect rolled tacos (that the entire state of Texas cannot get right) and tender carne asada greeted me when I opened my to go box's back at the hotel. Okay, what could they do better? Only a few things. The young lady expediting had to show my ticket to the kitchen twice to get them to make it. No biggie, it was worth the wait. This was between a 3 and a 4, but ultimately I had to land on average. I got four soft tacos (carne asada, steak, chicken, pastor). All were extremely dry, despite the lime. My husband got the burrito, which wasn't dry, and he found enjoyable. They do have a neat salsa bar as well as sodas and flavored drinks. No alcohol. Fun bright place and service was nice. Price reasonable--four soft tacos, a burrito, desert, and large drinks plus tip was 40 dollars. So it was the first place I wanted to try my first taco. 2.6 Stars. This place is a hit AND miss. Let's TACO BOUT IT. The food here is well done and the atmosphere is really relaxed, but it is pretty pricey, especially if you pay with a card. They give you a slight discount if you pay with cash but overall the prices are a bit higher than other places in town. The customer service, quality of food and proximity to my daily chores keep me coming back; but, if one of those things were missing I would probably eat elsewhere. read more

Fresh veggies, wonderful flavors and large portions. I have had the veggie burritos, nachos, quesadilla, and fries. all have been great. Additionally every time is consistent. Service: Wonderful, 5/5. The staff up front is great, polite and professional. Ambiance: Bright Colors and Festive 5/5. Love the paintings and art inside. Anyway, I was stationed in San Diego, so I'm biased (or based, depending on who is reading this). There's something very magical about your first California burrito that's done right, like at the old Santana's Mexican Grill before it became Fresh MXN. This place does it right. Not just right, but accurately. I've had California style burritos in NV and AZ that were very good, and you can see those in my reviews. This kicked the s*it out of them. Let me list why: -Carne Asada is juicy -equal portions of every ingredient -fries that taste like they are from McDonalds -enough cheese to actually taste it -salsa bar with more than 2 salsas EDIT: BEFORE YOU ORDER THE CALIFORNIA BURRITO MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR GUAC IN IT. FOR SOME REASON IT DOESNT COME WITH IT, ITS EXTRA. We also had the machaca con huevos, and it was equally as awesome as something from San Diego, but the ratio of egg to meat wasn't equal. Not docking points for that, bc idk...it was so damn good and the cheese was flowing, check my pic. To top it off, the dude manning the checkout was super nice and asked about our day, and when he saw I was taking salsa to go and was having a hard time containing it all, he showed us the salsa bags. Brought my daughter here to check out the food since we saw it had good reviews. Since we moved here from Texas, we noticed a lack in good Mexican food. My daughter ordered a shrimp taco and carne asada quesadilla. She loved all of it. The customer service was great. The young man at the register was very polite and welcoming. I asked about the cheesecake because I wanted to buy two of the a strawberry cheesecakes if they had more, he said he wasn't sure but he would go and check in the back for me. He brought out the whole tray so I could see what all they had left. There wasn't anymore lemon strawberry so I opted to try the tutti frutti flavor. Coming from CA, we have a certain... shall we say... expectation of Mexican food. You guys really don't know what you're missing if you haven't had CaliMex. But on a recommendation from another ex-Cali, we tried it. Pretty good! It's not what we had back in Cali but it's in the ballpark. There's a salsa bar where you actually get some spicy options and the tacos are good. I will say the shrimp tacos were underwhelming as the shrimp didn't have much seasoning or flavor. But a decent salsa can help that. If you're like me and actually know what you're missing, and understand that CaliMex is really the only Mexican food worth eating... and you've made Clarksville your new home, I recommend this place. It won't blow your socks off but it'll be a decent imitation of food we all clearly took for granted. read more

Something that is typically added to fish/seafood tacos in Mexican culture. The west coast burrito was pretty good. It could use more lettuce and crema. The tacos are a good value: little bit more expensive than other places, but they are packed full of meat and toppings, easily twice that of a typical street taco. Pretty good spot. I had heard great things, so naturally I had to finally drop in. I wasn't sure what to get, so I asked the cashier what the most popular items were. He mentioned nachos, so I was sold. I'm obsessed with nachos, I pretty much get them everywhere. I ordered the fajita nachos with mixed meat to go. My wait wasn't long at all. I am always skeptical of any Mexican food further east than Arizona. That being said the comments go both ways. On one hand people say it's dry which gives me hope because people here like to eat what seems to be boiled meat so it even looks wet, if you're used to that then yes this may seem "dry". On the other hand I thought it may not be authentic because they serve a burrito smothered in white queso (something you will NOT find in California) but I think they have it to please the people in the area, because otherwise this is a pretty legit taco place. Yes it is more clean than what you'll find on the west coast, but that is not a bad thing. I got the carne asada tacos because they are cheap, so I won't be so mad if they are horrible. They didn't disappoint! The service is friendly and they even have a salsa bar. Next time I come I'll order the carne asada plate and see if it is marinated the way we do back home. All and all I will come back here. The prices are higher than LA but fair for the area. If you have been missing good Mexican food this is the place for you read more

Coming from San Diego to Tennessee this place is probably the closest you'll get to a taste of home. Haven't been to all the taco shops a d Mexican restaurants here, but I'm on a mission. I don't think many people would understand how excited I was to see they have a California burrito on their menu. The prices were a little higher due to currents events but the employee at the register let me know and pointed to a sign as well. Was it worth it paying an extra few dollars for my burrito?
