I was in the area of Maguire and Colonial at 11 AM and really wanted an egg breakfast at the nearest place. I searched for "Eggs" in the Yelp App and Mi Querida Colombia came up first. They serve breakfast until 12 noon. The menu is in English and Spanish. I ordered the " Colombian corn cake with cheese and scrambled eggs" breakfast meal. This meal also comes with coffee!. I ordered the coffee with milk, they do not have decaffeinated coffee. The coffee came beautifully presented with steamed milk. It was absolutely delicious coffee! The scrambled eggs were also delicious and I really liked the Colombian corn cake paired with the eggs. The corn cake was warm and looked like it had just come off the griddle, the edges were crisp and very slightly browned and there was some mild cheese on top, it was really good! There is ample parking in the parking lot and it is a very convenient location, the shopping center is right on the North West corner of Maguire and Colonial and you can enter either from Colonial (Route 50) or from Maguire Road. read more

We hoped for a lot more. Should have read the reviews first!? Authentic doesn't always mean delicious I guess? The flank steak was season-less and difficult to cut and chew. Maybe that is the chef's intention? The white cake also was tasteless- just a substance to be chewed and swallowed - once. The meat portion of the pork rind was super dry and I didn't attempt to try the rind portion. Even though I don't have dentures, I simply wasn't about to give that a go. The fried egg was over cooked so no yolk to permeate the rice. The red beans were okay and was used on the rice which turned out pretty good and made the meal. Thank goodness. Plantains were okay but could have cooked a littler longer - since borderline on al dente'. (I prefer it nearer to mushy.) My partner's fries were barely warm and as lifeless and tasteless as seen in the picture. There must be an aversion to NaCl at this restaurant's kitchen. It is on the table though. Great if you have Hypertension! I didn't even try a bite of the hamburger as that stuff looked like aged, backwater fish camp fare. Wish I had photographed it. Over processed no signs of grilled or signs of anything. Not the least bit juicy. 7/8 of that entire burger and fries went back to the kitchen trash. Does the kitchen even wonder why when this happens? Maybe their "regulars" love it, as this place has been open for some time! The beers were cold and good. Our server was a delight and accurate. I came here with a fairly large group of 6 people. We were immediately greeted and seated without any delay. There was quite a large selection of food and drinks and desserts. I thought it was a formidable yet diverse. The staff seemed rather busy but that didn't affect their service for us. In fact, I'd say it was above average service. I would say that it helped that people at my table spoke spanish with the staff. The food overall I thought was very good for what you pay for. I travelled to Colombia a short while back for the first time and I'd say this is one of the more genuine Colombian places I've been to. Some people complain about the prices, but I thought they were very fair. I will keep it short and to the point. Wait time was a nightmare, it took almost half an hour after placing our order. The appetizers came in after our food. The server was respectful but disengaged from the customers in general. I don't feel it was anything personal with our table. Pricing was high for what we ordered (garlic chicken breast, rice and beans), but portions were generous. Now, the flavor was exquisite. I love authentic Latin cuisine and Mi Querida Colombia did not disappoint. I had the lentil soup which was perfectly seasoned and sprinkled with fresh cilantro, I also enjoyed the Mango shake and the Sifrida arepa, which was a Venezuelan style arepa filled with chicken salad, avocado and gouda cheese, it was phenomenal. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with this place. I do NOT recommend trying their empanadas. They didn't taste fresh at all and I couldn't even finish mine. I also didn't enjoy the fish, it was dry and not worth the price. The food also took a really long time and I was the only customer there so that was also disappointing. I was in the area and decided to visit Mi Querida Colombia restaurant. My grandson was hungry so I thought that he might like a beef empanada. I also saw the bakery sign and thought that I would pick up some specialties to take home. The restaurant is in a tired looking strip mall at the corner of 50 and Maguire. Their service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. The empanadas were tasty and my grandson and I enjoyed them. They were nicely seasoned and were exactly what I was hoping for. The bakery was hugely disappointing. They offered a small selection with mostly bread items. The bread that I picked up felt stale and the few dessert items that were on display looked unappealing and below grocery store quality. read more

Walked in around 11:30 am today with my mom and grandma. We were not greeted by anyone at the door so we started walking towards a table towards the back since we figured we would sit ourselves, by that time one of the waitresses saw us and said we could have a seat anywhere. We sat down and the waitress brought our menus, simply placed them down in a stack with the utensils and said she would be back. Coming from a customer service background myself, I distributed the menus because I just thought it was rude the way she placed the menus down. We looked through them for a while since NOTHING seemed typical of Colombia, but we decided to give it a try regardless. My grandma ordered a water-based Guanabana juice, I ordered a water-based mango juice, and my mom ordered a coffee with 1 pan de Bono and 1 form of guayaba snack. My grandma also craved one after seeing the waitress bring my mom's, so we asked the waitress if she could bring an extra one. We waited for 10+ minutes for the pan de Bono and she still didn't bring it. My mom had to get up and ask her again. When she did, she gave her such an attitude as if it were our fault she forgot the order. I also wanted a pan de bono, so we ordered two with the other waitress who was a little more helpful and nicer than ours. For our meals, I originally wanted a Colombian arepa with scrambled eggs. When I placed my order, she informed me they had no eggs... so I ordered the chicken with rice instead. We, also, ordered a Churrasco plate with white rice, beans and plantains. However, my biggest issue was they brought out one plate first then the second plate was brought out 8 or 9 minutes later. Apart from that, the beans tasted like they had been smoked ??? Not sure what the taste was but it was very bad. The churrasco meat was chewy and hard and NONE of us could finish the chicken with rice. Overall, we payed exactly $44.80 and DID NOT leave a tip based off such terrible service. Not sure how they still operate with such bad food and waitresses! read more

Food ordered didn't resemble the food on the menu at all. Tostones came out with cheese and no sauce or sour cream. When I asked I was brought the sauce and told that it didn't have sour cream. I thought about this hard and I don't like giving bad reviews since there is an opportunity to learn and we all can have a bad day and things can just go totally wrong for a business, but it was the worst experience I have had in a long time. I go in on a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. All of the tables by the wall where full so I thought this place must be excellent. I see the bakery and already started to plan what I am taking home. After 13 mins I am still waiting for the waitress to come over as she is serving everyone else. I make a gesture and someone by the register comes over to get my order I explained that I need to leave soon since I was working. Everything is ok I didn't mind the wait. I get my passion fruit juice, pretty tasty and I'm happy. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa. It came to me looking so tasty and that's when the problem started. White rice is a must on a Hispanic restaurant/household it is the simplest dish to cook yet it was hard/uncooked and mushy at the same time. I called the waitress to look at the rice and she said and I quote "oh yes another table just complained that it's hard, I can ask them to change it" I said yes. So I am hungry and get a bite of the eggs and then I go for the pork cracklings. It was so bendable it felt like rubber, just take a greasy belt and bend it and that was my pork cracklings and it was orange. I ask the waitress who is Colombian If this is the usual way they serve this dish. Now, I don't have a problem with her since I know she is not the cook, but to look at me and then make it seem like I am an idiot by telling me that's how it's serve and there is nothing wrong with it is just crazy, I mean that's why they are call Pork Cracklings, because it cracks...So I talk to the manager and explained that I was not going to pay for this horrible service but would gladly pay for the juice and he says no problem and gives me a 25% discount on my check and goes back to the kitchen. I refused to pay, they ask if I wanted to stay for a new order, and by then it was already 45 mins later and I had a bite of egg, uncooked rice, cold sausage and couldn't break the pork cracklings since it was as hard as a belt. I refused to pay, he comes back and starts arguing with me that there is nothing wrong with the food, I refuse to pay and then he told the waitress to only charge me for the juice. We've passed this restaurant in the local mall several times. We decided to give it a shot after seeing the bandeja paisa advertised by one of their employees on a billboard standing by the side of the road. I've always enjoyed that meal and thought we would try it at a new place. the restaurant was very clean and also has a small bakery attached to it with various desserts.the staff was very polite, however only one spoke English so it was kind of hard to get our order understood. I ordered the bandeja Paisa and the wife ordered the sirloin strips sauteed with onions and tomatoes. Although we were the second couple in the door, the other got their food a little faster than we did, as did a lady that came in after us. Both meals tasted great, but the chicharones in my meal were not cooked as well as they could have been. All in all I would definitely go back and try something else. The bathrooms were clean and we stocked. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible. read more

We came here years ago and it was awful; the food was tasteless and bland and the decor was depressing. Came back today to give it a second shot. We were hopeful after walking in, as the place looks like it has been renovated. I sat down with my husband & three small children. No one came to the table. I took two of our three kids to the bathroom (never a quick incident) and came back to sit down. We continued to wait and again no one came. I finally went up to the counter to ask if we needed to order food there. The male server gave me a set of menus and said to sit down and he'd be there shortly to take our orders. I followed the directions, and waited some more. A gentleman walked in shortly after we got there and sat down. He was greeted promptly by a waitress and had his order taken. Meanwhile, me and my three small kids, who were starving, continued to wait. After about 20 minutes of sitting down with no greeting, no waters, we finally got up and left. Nobody noticed. We would have stayed and waited longer if somebody had bothered to at least come up to us. Seemed like one of those places that has no competition so it cares very little about the service they offer. If you're reading this review and are Colombian, please give them a run for their money. Been to this restaurant thousands of times, I am Colombian and used to live in Miami. The only reason I come here is because the food is authentic and it taste like home to me. The servings are small, it is overpriced. Between me and my husband we spend at least $29 every time and we don't get drinks! Just bandeja paisa and ajiaco. I think the restaurant is way too small for the amount of people that go there. And the employees are rude, when you call they'll put you on hold but not actually press the hold button so you hear all that's going on. It's a good restaurant only for the food. Again once I find a good Colombian restaurant in the area I'll be going there. read more

This was such an amazing find! I was heading to old time pottery and I smelled something so delicious. I looked and noticed this little COLOMBIAN place that just called me in. Wow! Everything was delicious. I had the special soup of the day- lentils. It came with a "side" of rice and plantain and steak and salad. I was so full and wanted to keep eating more.
