I started with a beef empanada then I had the Snapper filled with a side of tomato yuca, salad and plantains. Here is the breakdown: Beef empanada: 10/10 Yuca with red sauce: 10/10 Snapper filet: 10/10 Salad: 10/10 Plantains: 8/10 And then come dessert, just when you think you have no room, my stomach gladly pushed some organs aside and let me indulge. I requested a garlic sauce, sometimes referred to as mojo sauce. I described it as a tangy garlic sauce with a lighter, more liquid consistency. What was brought to the table appeared to be sautéed onions with garlic. I politely explained that this wasn't what I was expecting and that I had anticipated a sauce with a thinner consistency. At that point, the server's tone became noticeably confrontational and he insisted that what had been served was the sauce I was describing. The interaction became uncomfortable, and the server continued to give us what felt like dirty looks for the remainder of our visit. The situation left us feeling unwelcome and ultimately made us want to leave. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. As a Colombian, I was excited to try the dishes and see how authentic the flavors were. I was immediately impressed by how they present their menu, it's displayed on a tablet with photos of each item, which makes choosing much easier. I ordered from their specials menu and chose the sautéed steak with a side of rice and beans. It was delicious. I also tried a drink called the Guaro Mule, which was new for me and definitely worth trying. The portions are generous one plate can easily feed two people. I don't think I've ever been to a Peruvian restaurant but this was the best first impression of one! All the food was delicious, and my friend and I split the sampler platter. It was enough food to make a meal while also having leftovers that night. The platter comes with two different sausages, a hotdog like one and a chorizo one, fried mashed plantain, steak, potatoes, fried yuca, cassava, and chicharron. SUPER yummy, and definitely recommend if you want to try a bit of everything. They also gave us a garlic sauce and a spicy green sauce and both paired well with the food. I also tasted some of my friend's chicken and it was seasoned well! The service was fast, and we got our food without having to wait super long. Now that magical dining has ended, I was looking for a more reasonable priced restaurant for the weekend. I found that Marriott was offering 8 points per dollar promotion this month, and found out that this restaurant was participating in their program. So I made i reservation on a Saturday evening. When I arrived, there was no wait and I was seated in a table next to the bar. I took the suggested strawberry mojito (16 dollars) for the drink. I also ordered the half rotisserie chicken with sweet plantains (21 dollars) for my dinner. It did that a little time to get my drink. But it looked nice and pretty when it arrived. I was able to taste the rum, and the drink was sweet from the strawberries, but it could have been stronger for 16 dollars. However, even before I could take a picture of my drink, my chicken also arrived. The dark meat portion of the chicken was nice and moist. I did have to take out some bones, but it was worth the effort. I enjoyed the roasted flavor from the rotisserie oven, and the skin was enjoyable too. The larger part had white meat chicken, which was a little dry, but still enjoyable. I enjoyed it with the garlic and spicy sauce that were given as sides. The fried plantains were sweet, and the rice was also good. The meal was very filling that I was stuffed the rest of the night after eating everything. That was a great value. My server was helpful and fast! I was in and out within an hour. The atmosphere looked casual and social. While I didn't see many patrons, the ones who were there were pretty social, so I didn't feel lonely eating alone. The music seemed to sound mariachi and salsa mixed in, which was nice for a Latin restaurant. Parking wasn't difficult at all directly at their restaurant. I am quite happy to visit Pio Pio after the magical dining promotion has ended. For the price paid for the chicken, it was a great deal. I wish they told me that the fruit favoring was a 2 dollars surcharge for the mojito, and it was much stronger, but it was still decent. Beginning with their Colombian Yellow Potatoes, I personally have never had better Yellow Potatoes. Pio Pio has got everyone beat. They also paid respect to Peru with their Pisco Sour but also had a creative take on the Moscow Mule but with a Colombian twist with ingredients of Elderflower and Aguardiente. This is now one of my husband's favorite restaurants. The calamari in a marinara sauce with fried plantains was an appetizer that I ordered for my meal. It was so delicious and I had plenty leftover to take home. My husband also took home more than half of his food. The steak that came with his meal was extremely thin, like under half an inch. The egg on top of the steak was more cooked than we would like it. The beans were his favorite. We were eating it like a soup before we could ask the waiter what it was. He said we were supposed to mix it with the rice. It was definitely good on its own. The deep fried pork skin and the sausage he really liked. The corn cake was pretty bland. The green and white sauces made everything better. They even gave us a few containers to go with our leftovers. This restaurant is conveniently located near Universal. We will be back. read more

Pío Pío Restaurant is hands down the best place on Earth (and I don't say that lightly). We've been coming here for the past six years, and somehow they still haven't messed up a single meal -- which honestly feels illegal. The Lomo Saltado is so soft and delicious it might emotionally heal you. I'm pretty sure it could fix my life if I ordered it often enough. The empanadas are dangerously crunchy -- like, "I'll order one but accidentally eat six" kind of crunchy. And let's talk about the ajo sauce... this stuff should be bottled and protected by the government. I would put it on literally everything. Shoes? Probably. If you don't come here, I'm not saying your life will be incomplete... but it definitely will. I recommend this place 100% and then another 100% just to be safe. read more
