The bartender was a bit serious that's why I gave this place a 4, yet in his defense it was only 2 bartenders for a full house so it bot have been overwhelming. Amazing Colombian restaurant with the most delicious bandeja paisa (which consists of red beans, white rice, meat typically steak, crispy chicharrón (pork belly), chorizo, fried egg, ripe plantain, arepa, and avocado). I devoured my food and didn't get a chance to take a picture. We also ordered mojitos and a flan to go. The main reason why I love this restaurant is that they can accommodate large parties just make sure to snag a reservation ahead of time. I visited Orlando over the weekend with a big group and we ended up at Aguardiente for lunch on Sunday before heading back to Tampa and was pleasantly surprised. We were quickly seated and taken care of. The mini empanadas to start are a great appetizer, these were super tasty and perfect for a large hungry group. I personally ordered the Hamburguesa Aguardiente and this is probably one of the best Colombian burgers I've ever had! The flavors were on point and the pineapple jam that was on it gave me the perfect salty sweet combo. I also had the Arepa de Choclo con queso and this was amazing! It was like a sweet cornbread with cheese. This is definitely going to be one of my go to spots when I'm in Orlando in the future as it was quick and so good! read more

The family liked it but the pork was chewy for me. In general, portions were generous, which we loved because we had leftovers to take away with us. The ceviche aguardiente was very balanced in flavor and much larger in portion than we expected so we all shared it. The ribeye steak was definitely a standout dish. Being Colombian, i always get excited about discovering new Colombian food spots and was curious about trying this place when i drove by it while working on i-drive. I saw some negative reviews but decided to be adventurous and made a reservation for two. The place is pretty spacious and has big tv's all over the place...many playing soccer which i'm perfectly fine with. They appeared busy but the service was reasonably timely. We ordered our apps, received them, then ordered our entrees. For appetizers, my mom ordered the chunchullo with arepa and really liked it - if you don't know what that is..google it it tastes like a pork grind and wasn't bad with the green aioli sauce. My grandma used to love this dish. The mini empanadas were great - 5 chicken, and 5 beef. Very delicious. At first it didn't come out with any aji even though we mentioned it, but the food runner made it right and brought some right away. For the entrees, my mom got the sobrebarriga with yucca and beans - she enjoyed it and had tons of leftovers since it's a huge dish. I ordered the entraña a la parrilla with potato and beans and it was delicious. Our only gripe was our guanábana batidos - too sweet and somewhat expensive. $9? Ok...we are on i-drive in tourist country i suppose. We usually go to Oh Que Bueno and were pleasantly surprised with Aguardiente's massive menu. They have soups...no sancocho but there was caldo de res and consomé de pollo to choose from. We were too full for dessert but they had several to choose from. On our way out, one of the guys mentioned live music on the weekends starting at 730 with a dj late at night. It's a bit of a drive, but we'll definitely go back on occasion. I've been in this location twice, once for dinner and one for lunch. Last time was for lunch on our way to Aquatica/seaworld, it's very close to the Seaworld area -like around the corner. I went for lunch, our server JuanDa took great care of us, I liked the place is very big, has many walls for photo ops. I ordered for lunch, patacones/tostones with hogao, smashed fried plantain with a tomato onion peppers stir fried type of sauce. Also it came with guacamole, and I also got a Colombian style burger - it was $20 something but the burger was huge, and they added melted cheese to the burger as they serve it. It was so good. I went with family bu they only wanting to order drinks - tropical fruit juices, I believe we ordered guava, mango and soursop juices, you can order the juice with milk or water based. I loved the music, it's very legit Colombian, the vibe the music, etc. This is also the type of place that turns into a night club at night, you can see that have spaces for live music and dance floors, it's a big place. The very first time I went I went for dinner, we ordered some Colombian beers, Club Colombia and Aguila beers if I recall well, In that occasion, and ordered carne-en-vara steak - I believe is the way the steak is cooked, and it was so good the steak, it's a bar steakhouse, that's probably the it speciality. My only complaint and it happens the first time in dinner time - was that the music was so loud we couldn't really talk with each other in the table without having to scream, but also in that occasion I ordered some appetizers, and the server missed my appetizers, she couldn't hear me over the music, and was only when we got our main entrees that we asked for an appetizers and she was like oh you didn't order, and I was yeah I did, but at that point we have our food and we were ok. So... mixed feelings on this one. Food was yummy. Authentic, well cooked, and very generous overall in portion. HOWEVER-service was not good. We were seated promptly, which was appreciated. It took about ten minutes for our server to come to the table, which was a little much without any acknowledgement. There were several tables being seated around the same time however, so tried to be patient. This time also gave us a chance to look over the menu pretty thoroughly, so when our server did come, we already knew what we wanted. We placed our drink and food orders at the same time, including alcohol and appetizers. Our drinks and appetizer were both out within about another 10 minutes. From there it was downhill. We waited almost 45 additional minutes for our entrées and during this time our waiter came over once. during that one time we requested water in addition to the alcohol, which was delivered fairly promptly. We looked for our waiter with no avail several additional times to try to request the status on our food given the wait time, but were unable to locate him. After we got our food, he also only came by one additional time to check in, not offering refills at that point on any drinks . We also requested some additional sauces with our meals, which were never taken to us. after four attempts on my husband's part to flag our waiter down to ask for a check and a to go box for remaining food, we were successful and finally getting him back to the table. He brought out a box after about five minutes and then it was another 10 minutes after that before we got our check. Imagine our surprise when we found that an automatic 18% gratuity had been added, simply based on our total bill being over $100. While the food here was delicious, I cannot say that we will be back based on the negative service experience. Do better please! read more

First thing, it's a sweat shop in there! Moving forward the food was decent. I can not review my skirt steak as I quickly lost my appetite after one of the servers poured hot burning oil from the toma hawk they had just placed on fire in front of house. It was not a drop but almost dropped the cast iron dish on him and poured oil all over his thigh. They brought a wet towel and some Vaseline for him to go to the bathroom and apply. There was oil all over the seat and table. We did not come to realize how bad it was till this morning when I scabbed and blistered up. Manager never came to apologize or check on us. We kept it classy and did not create a scene. We attempted to savage the reason for our travels to Orlando to celebrate Father's Day and his birthday. We were not offered any compensation not even his bday cake. They did not take ANY accountability for the cause and this has now caused a major set backs on our plans to go out today. read more

We had a 7:30 reservation and our food didn't come out until almost 10pm! Not sure if our waitress forgot to put our order in or what but the wait was insane. They were not even that busy to say that they were backed up. There were several groups, many celebrating birthdays which is what my family and I went there for as well. They do this big celebration for birthdays which is fun... but they really need to figure out the volume on their systems bc it was either deafening or you could barely hear it. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe. Then the bill came... and wow was it WAY overpriced for what it was. The food was not even great! Under seasoned. I am sorry to say I would not return here... What I was upset about was that the waitress told me I could substitute my kids menu from French fries to beans. However, when the bill came it was added as a side of beans. Five stars, absolutely amazing, loved every bite!! I ordered the picanha, sweet plantains, and rice -- the perfect combination! My husband and nephew ordered the platter for two & added picanha steak. These are two dudes who can put it down and it was the perfect amount of food! The food was really good, there's no doubt about that, but service was another thing. I went on a Monday at 11:30am. Barely any customers. had To wait for about 3-5 for someone to sit us down. Once on our seat had to wait for our waitress who ended up being the "manager" (this was on our receipt) who saw us when we came in and did not acknowledged us, and after we sat down, she did not move after 5 minutes. After finally coming to our table I asked for a glass of water due to waiting for someone, the person with me asked for a piña colada. This literally took 10 minutes (she was making the drinks herself, they did not have a bartender). The third person showed up and we were able to get our drinks. Another 10-15 minutes. Once we had our drinks we ordered. Food came in at a decent time. We could not ask for more drinks because the waitress would take another 10-15 minutes. Finally the check came in. For a party of 3, she included the gratuity of 18% and on top of that they charged us extra because we used a credit card. If we would've paired cashed it would've been less. I ate here while in town for work. It was across the street from my hotel so I chose it for convenience. The place seemed very clean. The hostess and server were friendly but there's a slight language barrier if you don't speak Spanish. That does not bother me at all. I tried the salad with chicken, steak and shrimp. I wish they had a salad option with just shrimp. This portion was huge! A whole chicken breast, 4 grilled shrimp, and a large piece of skirt steak. The lettuce, avocado and tomatoes were fresh. The meats and shrimp were seasoned perfectly. The chicken was juicy. Without the seasoning, the shrimp didn't have much taste. My only disappointment was the cook on the skirt steak. I asked for rare but the server didn't really understand what I was asking for so it was served more well done than I typically enjoy. It was tender and the flavor was there so I ate it!! I always noticed this place driving by to and from the Orange County Convention Center. It is on International Drive on a strip mall. Lots of parking right in front. After a late night at the convention center, we wanted to just sit down, have a cocktail (or 2) and a bite to eat. We didn't have much options since it was late and most places were closed or would be closing soon. I checked the hours for Aguardiente and they were open til 10pm that night . There were still a good amount of patrons in the restaurant when we got there but were seated immediately. The ambiance was more like a restaurant/bar setting. Lots of big screen TV's. It was a bit on the louder side but manageable. While deciding what to order, we noticed while looking around that many tables were ordering a dish which was heaping of food. After inquiring from our waitress, we were told it was the Picada. There were 2 types of Picada and you have a choice of size for either 2 or 4 people. The amount of food for the Picada for 2 was HUGE. It came with several items such as steak, chicken, sausage, plantains, yuca. It was served with a pico de gallo. We also had the Lomo De Res Salteado which was a steak dish in a savory broth with some red onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and green onions. It was delicious and also a big portion. It came with fries (which was added to the same plate with the steak and broth so I would recommend asking for it on the side so it doesn't get soggy -unless y'all like it that way!) in addition to the fries, it came with 2 more sides. We also ordered the empanada appetizers. Good amount to share and tasty! The food was excellent, the portions were huge. We all had take home boxes for our left overs. I love Colombian food and this place hits the spot for me. The name changed recently but has the same owner. My guess is the old name wasn't bringing the people in? It was called Rancho Mateo. They refer to themselves as a steakhouse, and they do have steak on the menu, but it seems more fitting to call it a family restaurant. The place is very spacious and clean. It has been recently remodeled to add more seating. They have a variety of seating options, from standard tables, booths, high top chairs and bar seating. There is also a full bar that can serve customers inside and out, through a window to the outside patio. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering and put our order in for drinks and appetizers. I ordered the empanadas, 1 beef and 1 chicken. They serve them with different sauces. I wish they would provide extra sauces from the start because we had to request refills a couple of times. The sauce containers are very small so its easy to go through them. The server was friendly and attentive so we were able to get what we needed fairly quickly. Halfway through our service, our waitresses changed but we weren't sure why. They were both great but it was a little confusing. The empanadas were hot, crispy and had a good amount of filling inside. My friend ordered the chorizo and potatoes and enjoyed it. For entree, I ordered the chicken and garlic sauce with salad and fried yuca sticks. I liked the garlic sauce but needed a bit more flavor so I added aji and chimmichurri sauces. The chicken was a bit dry but that was likely due to it being so thin. The sauces helped with that. My friend ordered their signature burger. It was massive and had so many flavors and textures on it: grilled onions, a ham slice, melted cheese, green tomatoes, lettuce, crushed chips and pineapple. The melted cheese is poured on top at the table which was a nice touch. I only wish we had gotten a video of it. One reason my friend ordered the burger was for the crushed chips and pineapple. I'm not sure I saw crushed chips on there and we later found out that it doesn't come with a liked pineapple like we thought. It is apparently a pineapple sauce. If ordered again, we will be sure to get the sauce on the side to hopefully get more of the pineapple taste we were looking for. There were some definite improvements to the place since we were here last time under the old name. The extra seating and new menus were great additions. The consolidated menu was a lot easier to read. I would suggest they add the hours for the breakfast section though.
