The food was amazing! I was looking for a solid meal that felt like it was home cooked and it did not disappoint. The food being delicious was the highlight of my visit. Our waitress was also very attentive and recommend the frozen mint drink to me, which was different than what I would normally order but refreshing. The World Cup was showing on the TV there so that was nice while we enjoyed our meals. It seems like a great place for dinner and lunch would love to try their breakfast sometime as well. The empanadas were to die for. I got 2 chicken and 2 beef for $11- what a deal. They're more of the corn based empanadas (different style than flaky Cuban empanadas). The lunch special ropa vieja was okay, not much sauce and a little dry for my liking. Perhaps this is just the Colombian style of ropa. It came with delicious soup and plantains. I ordered ahead online and did curbside pickup, but I'd definitely like to eat inside next time cause it seems like a fun atmosphere and good casual vibe. So delicious! I was such a fan of this place. We ordered takeout and everything was packaged well and stayed hot. The chicken was awesome and the yuca was so good. The entrees came with three sides and there were several to choose from. The prices were reasonable, portions large and great sauces. I haven't ate here in person, but I have ordered food from here on Uber eats over 10 times and they have yet to fail me. If I'm wanting Spanish food, this is the place I go to. I have had several of their dishes and it's always very good with Perfect portion sizes and you can tell everything is made fresh - I highly recommend getting their limeades and don't forget to order extra containers on the side of their homemade sauces. La Antioquena restaurant serves authentic Colombian food in a traditional seating. The music, the décor, and the friendly staff reminded me of restaurants I visited when I went to Colombia. Here you can find traditional Colombian dishes such as bandeja paisa, empanadas, picada, and others. My husband and I ordered beef empanadas, bandeja paisa, and skirt steak (entraña). The food comes with sides of spicy sauce (the green one is an excellent complement to the steak). Also, if you want the whole Colombian experience, order their most popular sodas, Colombiana or Postobon (apple flavor). I can't say that the establishment is the best I have visited, (the reason for the four stars) it could use some improvements to tables and chairs for more comfort, but that doesn't stop me from going often. Also, if you don't like loud music, maybe avoid going on Friday nights (and I believe Saturdays too) when they have live music. If you do, the music is good, with old-school cumbia and salsa tunes from Colombia. If you are not fluent in Spanish, the menu is in English too. read more

Grabbed some appetizers here yesterday for my sons birthday. The presence look good so we were hoping for it to taste fresh but the empanadas were cold and hard. I have come here before and have had them fresh so I suggest making sure to ask for that detail since they seem to give ones out that have been sitting a long time. I also ordered an arepa not pictured and I personally wouldn't recommend. It was dry, hardly any cheese, and the meat was undercooked. I wish I could give it a better review. read more

Here's the thing with Colombian cuisine outside of Colombia, it is either authentic... or it is not. La Antioquena is the real deal, their food is flavorful authentic, and served with the friendliness and warmth of the beautiful culture it hails from. Don't be bashful, peruse the menu and ask as many questions as want, you will find that it is all good and delicious. We will no doubt make the drive back to enjoy more of their offerings and hopefully upgrade the review ... we'll see. Mind you, we are vegetarian and occasionally will enjoy a good fish, which is what we ordered. The review should be really 3 1/2 stars, mostly due to the fact that the arepas we ordered to go, were pretty bland and tasteless. I've walked past this little strip mall restaurant a few times and it always smells so good so I decided to give it a try with a friend on a Friday evening around 5PM. There are tables outside with cool Latin music playing but we chose to dine indoors. It wasn't terribly busy so we were greeted and seated right away. The staff greeted and began conversing in Spanish and when I said I was not fluent they kindly switched to broken English. The menu had a large variety of delicious sounding entrees with photos of many of them which was helpful when you're not familiar with the dishes. The waitress promptly came by for appetizers and beverage orders and soon after took our dinner order n Spanish and her broken English which added to the authenticity of the restaurant. She was very friendly and efficient. We ordered beef and chicken Empanadas which promptly came with two different yummy dipping sauces. They were warm and crispy. Our two entrees included the Chorizo Stew, and the Battered Chicken Breast. When the meals came I was stunned by the large portion sizes. The stew was thick and tasty in its cast iron pot and came with a large portion of white rice and other sides. The Battered Chicken Breast included two large, flattened and crispy battered chicken breasts, a large side of white rice, soup, and delicious plantains. Everything was delicious and there were leftovers to take with me when I left. While we dined I could see staff preparing countless to-go orders presumably for Uber Eats and/or phone orders so this seems to be a large part of the evening business. The prices varied based on the items ordered and ranged from pricey to reasonable. But with the large portion I received I think it was right on the money. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times before and today was a huge disappointment. Not only it was very expensive but three of our plates were missing items, and the food was not cooked the way they needed to be cooked. The bandeja paisa was missing the egg, the chicharrón looked old and over cooked, the meat was red which we asked for it to be well done (this is not a thick steak) the pollo asado for kids was missing the beans and the churrasquito was also under cooked. We couldn't get out of there fast enough, even ordering was such a pain. read more

Not a day goes by that I don't crave Colombian food and finding a spot to satiate that craving was a nice surprise. We were in the area running an errand and when we got hungry we, of course, came to Yelp to see what delicious options were nearby. It was right after the lunch rush so there were few people in the restaurant. Service was good (I can't speak to when it is very busy) and they were able to answer all our questions since I have some restrictions. The plates of food were very large, we could have ordered an appetizer and shared a plate. We each ordered a grilled fish but I switched out a side for veggies. That day they had Broccoli, it was freshly steamed and was quite good. We also had an area de queso - it was delicious. Their chimichurri was so tasty, the tostones crispy, the fish nicely seasoned. If anything, I would ask for just a little more salt in the side of arepas with hogao. read more

Just finished a workout next door at LA Fitness, and what better reward after a good workout than some Colombian food??! I have never been to Colombia, but I feel like I got a little taste of it this day. My friend that I had lunch with visited Colombia not too long ago and attested that La Antioquena was pretty darn close. The restaurant is a storefront and has more of a sports bar vibe. It seems to be family friendly, but also a good spot to hang out with friends for drinks. The portions are pretty generous. We ordered two appetizers and maduros (sweet plantains) to share, and boy were we stuffed. The food was great, super flavorful, and great presentation. The service was subpar. They were not too busy for lunch, but our waitress did not check in as often as we would have liked. 5 stars goes for the food alone. I will definitely make my way back to this little storefront Colombian restaurant in the LA Fitness plaza in Lake Mary to try some other dishes from that menu. read more

Absolutely the best Colombian food outside of Tampa in the Central Florida market. I had their paella (not typically Colombian, I know) and it was absolutely delicious. The rice was seasoned perfectly and the seafood was not overcooked. I normally get a bandeja paisa whenever I visit Colombian restaurants, but have been trying to eat healthier of late. If the deliciousness of the paella is a good indicator of the rest of the food, I will surely enjoy the bandeja paisa as well. My wife had the churrasco lunch and it was absolutely amazing. The soup for both our meals was a little salty, but that is typical for Colombian cuisine. Service is typical - not exactly great and not exactly terrible, maybe a little below average. I always judge a restaurant's service by their peers within the same cuisine. Overall, still an excellent place to eat. Will try the bandeja paisa next time. read more

I was a customer, I ordered online and I was there to pick up my order which I canceled, I am going online right now and give a negative feedback anywhere I can, I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone, I'm posting my bad experience on Facebook, Google, everywhere, so everyone can see it. However, the sweet plantains were burnt, and the empanadas.... well i think the picture speaks for itself. They were cold and gross. Unedible!!! There is sausage, chicharrón, flat steak, rice, beans, eggs and an avocado. The only thing this place needs improvement on is the service. I came to get lunch this week and I sat at the bar. I never got greeted or given a menu. I also was never given water and had to ask whichever server that passed by for some water and to order my food. This place is amazing. The food is authentic Colombian food. The lunch menu has a lot of options with different specials on specific days. This restaurant is located in Lake Mary right next to L.A. fitness. It is a hole in the wall so it is pretty easy to miss. Also it is a rather small establishment so it can get full and busy pretty fast. We were lucky and were able to get a table as soon as we walked in. My coworkers and I came here for a work lunch and I ordered the Churrasco lunch special which came with plantains, rice, side salad, soup and skirt steak. Everything tasted amazing. The steak was very well seasoned, the soup which had chicken, lentils and celery was also very good. I think the item in the menu that i loved the most was the chimichurri sauce. It was so tasty and went well with the rice. Let me point out that you have to come to this place with an appetite as the portions are HUGE! The service could have been better in my opinion. It was a bit slow and the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up with the orders. Another negative for me was the fact that the waitress never came to refill our waters or check on us which i think is because the place was busy and packed. Place is small kind of loud and very easy to see its family owned as it was full of friends and family it seems while we were there. Things we ordered rated 1-10 10 being good. Breaded steak -8 White rice with egg on top-8 Friend green plantain-4 Blood sausage-7 Arepa- 3 Fried yucca- 9 Tilapia in onions-9 Passion fruit smoothie in milk-10! First off order one of the fruit smoothies with milk, they do it in water or milk but the milk is were its at!!!! I had the passion fruit and it was amazing. The breaded steak was a little over done but man was it well seasoned and good. The white rice with over easy eggs on top was very good. Blood sausage was fried I like it boiled but this one was very good. The Areias tasted ok but they were burnt!!! If they weren't I would of scored them a little higher. The tilapia in onions with fried yucca was just great and well flavored make sure you use the white garlic sauce for the yucca. I was impressed by seeing the business owner walking around, making sure everything was running smoothly. I'm Colombian so my usual go-to dish is Arroz con Pollo desmechado (rice withe shredded chicken) but sadly they did not have this option on the menu. I would like to see this item added to their menu, in the near future. So I purchased the "Pollo Encebollado" and the good thing was I could pick my own three side dishes. Therefore, I picked: salad, beans and avocado. They didn't have avocado so I was bummed about that too. So then I got rice instead. My sister got the "Bandeja Paisa" dish and she got it with avocado. Turns out, since this dish automatically comes with avocado and they were running "low" on avocados, they give those dishes a priority and give them the avocado piece instead of dishes like mine where I had option for other side dishes. At least that's what the waitress said when I pointed it out. Idk that was weird. Luckily, my sister did not want her piece and gave it to me, ha! Win win!! Here's three reasons why you should absolutely STAY AWAY from this location: 1. Poor and thieving customer service 2. Prices far exceed quality 3. Food is mediocre As far as point 1, I did a pick up of my food. My order was incomplete. One of the things I wanted was a coffee. The gentlemen who gave me the order didn't charge it over the phone, so I paid the amount in cash. He took the money and put it in his apron. I wasn't sure I saw it right but it was clear as day when he returned, shamefully took the money out only to tell me the had no coffee other than instant coffee which they'd have to make. Caught up in all this, I get home only to realize they did not give me the flan. Onto number 2, I don't mind paying for food but when you over charge and you provide a cheap quality meal, I take offense to that. Hopefully you stay away, but if you don't, you'll see what I mean. 3.
