I ordered the surf & turf burrito (Grilled shrimp, marinated steak, queso rice, grilled onions, pico de gallo, queso fresco, baja crema, topped with habanero onions & arugula, cilantro served with black beans) topped with the tomato cream sauce. The sauce had a nice smoky flavor and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. As for the steak, kind of the same issue as the fish where it was overcooked/cooked well done. For dessert we ordered the Sugar churros (Whipped cream, caramel dipping sauce) which were served piping hot and they go perfectly with the dip. We ended up stirring the whipped cream and the caramel sauce together. The complimentary chips, fresh salsa, and famous creamy jalapeño dip are reason enough to stop by. That dip is every bit as addictive today as it was decades ago. I ordered the Comida Deluxe--a massive plate with cheese enchiladas, crispy chicken flautas, a crispy beef taco, fresh guacamole, queso-covered tostadas, rice, and refried beans. I tried the QR option but found it a little cumbersome, so I paid the old-fashioned way with my credit card. Chuy's has stayed true to what made it famous. The recipes are consistent, the portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the food is packed with nostalgia. Whether you're a fellow Texan or just craving outstanding Tex-Mex, this place continues to deliver. Life is too short to eat boring food.
