Came in at 1130, no one else but us. Service was great! Salsa was just ok, but try their house hot sauce! Everything was above average and good. So many options we went with a three choice sampler. I'd like to come back and try their Steak. Couple of our burritos with chicken had a bone in them, I look at this as amazing because this means they are most likely roasting their own chicken. And yes the flavor of the shredded chicken and beef was great. I will definitely give it another try soon! read more

Went for first time on a Saturday afternoon. Host sat my son and I immediately. Got served warm fresh chips with salsa and a refried bean dip ( delicious!) Got a beer margarita ( beer inside the margarita) was good .. pricey though $18.. Son had chicken fajitas, I had beef empanadas. Both were fresh and tasty. Their guacamole is fantastic. Although the food was good, I was very upset after I discovered that when the server refilled my water glass he switched it with the person sitting in the booth in front of me. I thought he had given me a new glass and straw, but after I had drank half of it and got up to go to the bathroom I discovered the woman in the other booth had my clear glass and I had her blue glass. Just had a delightful meal at Mi Rancho Alegre. One of the things I liked most about this place was the chips were not served with just salsa but also bean dip with cheese. Very flavorful! The mole was a hit with my son and grandson. The shrimp tacos my wife had, the carnitas tacos my daughter-in-law ordered and my enchilada were all very good. My grandson had the empanadas and there was nothing left on his plate. Everything was served on huge platters with rice, beans, and guacamole in a nice presentation. Also, very reasonably priced. We have been coming here several times a month since they opened. Food has always been great. I always get the same margarita every time. We get our check and I was in shock! They charged $30 for a margarita!! When I questioned I was told it had a certain kind of tequila. The tequila that was listed was nothing more than a Cuervo tequila. I questioned why I hadn't been charged $30 in the past. The server argued that yes, I had to have been. Very disappointing. So sure, this was going to be our go to Mexican restaurant. Went here while visiting in-laws. My first impression was the layout of the restaurant and ambiance was great. We were seated at a 6-top but it was right under the ceiling fan and air conditioning unit so it got quite cold. The food was exceptional. We started with the nachos with chicken and it was heaping with toppings and chicken. I ordered the burrito Mexicano, my wife and mother in law ordered fajitas for two with shrimp, chicken and steak but opted out of the steak. My sons both ordered tacos for Taco Tuesday. The food was all great. Drinks were appropriately strong for alcohol and an extensive drink menu! The server was great but definitely overworked. Lots of tables but any delays in getting things refreshed was a function of not enough help and not a shortcoming on the part of our server. Portions are large ... we had chicken mole and a trio of enchiladas (we ended taking half home). The guacamole was made tableside (nice touch). This was our "go-to" Mexican restaurant but not after today's visit. It seems like everything has changed. We were there around 2:00--the start of their happy hour. Nothing happy about it. There were very few people in the restaurant and yet it took a long time for someone to come and take our drink order and even longer for the drinks to arrive. They used to have a fancy garnish on the margaritas. Not this time. Not even a slice of lime on the edge of the glass. No chips and salsa provided while we waited for drinks and our meals. It took a long time for the food to arrive and the food seemed to be different from other times we've been there. My Burrito Mexico was heavy on the garlic. The lunch fajita was nothing special. The rice looked more like instant rice than traditional Mexican rice. When we were done we waited and waited for the waiter to see if we needed boxes. I ended up getting the boxes myself. At no time during our meal did anyone ask how things were going. After packaging up our meals we had to wait for the bill. And even after asking for it we had to ask a second time for it. Before this visit we had another bad experience with this restaurant but wanted to give it a second try. This other incident was with a take out order. We placed an order for five or six entrees plus a side (appetizer) of fresh guacamole and an appetizer of the Chile con queso. We never received the appetizers with the order. Two of the orders had the wrong protein in them. Tortillas were missing for the fajitas. I emailed the restaurant and the responder said they could remake the order or give me a gift certificate. Since we made do with the incorrect/incomplete order as best we could (for a 70th birthday celebration!) I requested the gift certificate. Three or more emails later, still no gift certificate and it's been over a month. After that poor customer service experience and the visit today where we were giving the restaurant a second chance we will be checking out the other Mexican restaurants just down the street. Third time in a row we ordered and didn't get what we asked for once we received our order and noticed it was wrong when we got home we went back to the location, which is a 25 minute drive and when asked to speak to a manager, we were told he said he was too busy to speak to his customers, zero out of 10 go somewhere else way too expensive for the bad service and constantly getting orders wrong. I don't think my wife and I have ever devoured a dessert that fast with as much sheer pleasure. The server was great. He was so attentive without being in our face. We were excited to have a quick meal on the outdoor patio on a beautiful summer evening. We were the only table out on the patio. Someone dropped off chips and salsa. After 25 minutes with no service I went to the hostess station to ask if someone was assigned our table. We waited another 10 minutes. My husband went to the bathroom to get us a drink. Finally someone showed up to take our order and apologized. The meal arrived and did not match what we ordered. I wanted chicken burrito and they delivered a steak burrito. Where do I begin.... I am writing this review after the SECOND time being at this establishment. The first time I went the service and food was OUTSTANDING & BEYOND AMAZING! Well I was absolutely 100% wrong. We got seated and was brought chips, salsa and water. We waited 45 MINUTES for the waitress to come back and ask if we want to order our food we then reply we have yet to even order drinks. She goes yes that's what I was asking well when you ask are you ready to order it usually means food but okay maybe because of the language barrier whatever. We order our drinks. We wait another 30 MINUTES for our drinks to come and she then ignores us wanting to order food and walks away. We then decide to order more drinks since it took so long and our food. We wave her over to order and she takes our drink order and ignores us again when we go to order food. Finally after going to the manager and complaining that we have been ignored multiple times for not only to place our food order but to also get more chips and salsa we order. By the time our food gets to our table we have now been here for almost 2 hours. Our food comes and half our table's order was wrong not only once but TWICE! The waitress also brought our second round of drinks and got that order wrong and just was bringing us different drinks to make up for it because she couldn't seem to remember what we ordered. We then complain to the manager AGAIN for everything that has gone wrong and he had the AUDACITY to say if we went to a "American" restaurant we would have waiting a lot longer for our food. No apology no nothing was a complete ASSHOLE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. Finally we are done we pack our food to go and get our bill to which they completely over charged us for our food and drinks. NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I EVER BE GOING TO SUCH A SHIT HOLE PLACE LIKE THIS! Do yourself a favor and go to Taco Bell you at least will get better service and food. The carne asada was good, meat was tender, but that was the only really good part of the meal. Coconut shrimp was soggy and unappetizing. They forgot to cook a person at our tables meal three times , made us wait 25 mins to order , and another 20 minutes just to get a water. If you want a pleasant experience with your family , stay clear of this restaurant. DO NOT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES HERE!!!! The food and drinks were good, service was not. After receiving our food our waiter checked in once to see if everything was good and if we wanted any more drinks. My friend asked for another margarita that never came and the waiter did not come back for a VERY long time. We had been done with our meals for a long time before he came back to clear dishes and ask about boxes. He did apologize for the wait but the restaurant was empty so he wasn't busy. The worst part however was when the bill came. They had a promotion before Christmas that when you purchase a $50 gift certificate you get a free $10 gift certificate. I was given both as a gift. However they were both stamped saying they were only good for January and February and "cannot be combined with other offers". I'm pretty sure the $50 one was stamped by mistake, how could a paid for gift card only be valid for 2 months? I understand promotional gift cards usually have a short expiration so no qualm there. Anyways, I put both certificates in towards the total bill and was told I wouldn't be able to use both together. Um what?! The $50 certificate is no different than a $50 bill. It was PAID for. We tried explaining that to the server, he said he'd see what he could do and came back saying sorry no they wouldn't take both together. They clearly don't understand how gift certificates work so please save yourself the trouble and don't buy them here. read more

Save your money and time and go elsewhere. We showed up on a Tuesday evening, having been to many other restaurants in Rochester with Taco Tuesday specials. Service was slow. Our drink orders were taken right away, however it was a good 30-45 mins before our appetizer/food order was taken. They provide complementary chips, salsa, and bean dip. The chips and bean dip were decent, but the salsa tasted like tomato sauce. It looked like tomato puree, not having the fresh veggies normally associated with salsa. I would have liked a refill on water, but our staff member never came back to check. It seemed like there was a different staff member for each table outside. Our food order took so long to come out that after sitting at the table for around 90 mins, we asked that the food be packaged to-go, which was ready immediately when we asked, somehow. We then noticed that the orders were also wrong. We were billed for everything provided, however items we ordered were missing, and items I didn't order were included. we paid and left, receiving a couple coupons, however we will not be returning. read more
