Maybe I'm so infatuated with other cultures because I'm so dissolutioned with American culture or lack thereof. So when I walk into a store and am greeted to signs and labels with no english in sight, I'm immediately excited. This place is like leaving the country for me. I know that historically and geographically that I'm in Mexico, but this was like the real thing for me. I loved being he only black dude in there and I loved how they looked at me all crazy when I busted out me spanish. I usually don't shop here, but I was in NEED of a Guadalupe candle. Well of course they have lots of religious candles to choose from. But, what got me all twitterpated was... well, everything else. 99 cents for strawberries that usually cost several pesos more at other grocery stores. Orale! 99 cents for 7 limes... lovely juicy limes - not dried up dusty pulp limes. No, this is not the dollar store. Just two of my most recent finds! Prepared hot food area, butcher area filled with meaty meats - marinated options too. I haven't tried, but a friend says their marinated meat is pretty tasty and handy for taco-making at home. They also have a good selection of pan dulce (the piggies are my favorite). And, if you need religious items... say, a 1st holy communion dress or whatnot, they have a little section off to the side. The rest of the store is pretty much your standard groceries, well Mexican-brand standards... lots and lots of cookies, crackers, queso, spices, and other canned goods you will never find in the Ethnic aisle of Raley's, Safeway, or Bel-Air. And, then as I waddle up to the check-out with my overflowing basket (damn, I know better and should just grab a grocery cart)... I am tempted with more impulse-shopping goodies while I count my dinero. Japanese peanuts! Yes, you can get Japanese peanuts at this Mexican market! The meat counter is pretty solid, the booze here is cheaper than most super markets. The store is full of traditional Hispanic items that are cheaper than most of their competitors. The veggies are fresh and the customer service is pretty good. The Taqueria attached has massive burritos for $3 and change and $1.50 tacos for those with a hankering for fresh Carne Asada tacos with authentic salsa. If your in the area, stop by and grab some tacos and a six pack of beer and have a fiesta. read more

This is a local mexican market. They do have fresh bakery...liquor dept... convenient WIC counter.. and a nice size resturant/cafe with pretty good food served. I would give it a 5 stars... but they get 4stars because they are kinda expensive. read more

so I ask that the pork loin be sliced. I don't know if the guy working the counter is a butcher or just the counter boy. when he went back an older man took the meat and finished up after they discussed and were looking at the meat.... well I didn't notice until I got home that they sliced it lengthwise, which makes no sense. A real butcher should know the difference and shouldn't have and I hope wouldn't have given a customer any cut of meat that was sliced wrong. check your meat before you accept it. Visited this place once. I got some weird looks when I walked in but otherwise people were gracious towards me. There are plenty of good things to get here. I want to specify the the 1 str rating is for the taqueria. I've had their chicken tacos and their nachos. My mom and brother eat here all the time and love it. I've read the reviews and I'm perplexed as to why they were highly rated. I feel this taqueria cuts and scrapes so many corners to be able to offer low prices. I have had better food at taco bell and del taco. The flavor or the soupy chicken (since they don't have grilled) was off... not seasoned very well. The nachos were redic! The chips tasted so generic n stale. The cheese sauce tasted like yellow latex semi-gloss interior paint from the dollar store (No i don't really know how that would taste like. .. but you get what I'm trying to say here.) I don't get it, they sell authentic ingredients there! This taqueria has potential to be great and to really reflect the quality of products available at the market. Whether they are affiliated or not. ..oh the salsa bar is ok. The icecream also tasted generic (like it was made from powdered milk.) Their carrot juice was good since ask they did was juice it. In conclusion, if you are shopping here for the market's great array of Mexican, some Salvadoran and some Peruvian products etc... and you're super starving hungry but only have a couple bucks.. do your self a favor and walk across the street (or drive if you don't want to get harassed by the beggars) and buy your self some McDonald's. read more

Come here at different times on different occasions because its close to where we live - the taqueria service is terrible the young girls there are incredibly aloof /out of it/ and always ready to leave. On different occasions HOURS before it closes - they had the salsa bar all packed up NO CARNITAS (on several different occasions) just ready to leave - they have a special going on I guess because they want to promote more people going there? The food always looks like leftovers and friend who went with me one time said the pork tasted like dog food - gross. Well service is always slow even though there is never anyone around and they are always ready to leave nothing there. The girls that work there are also always super slow to take your order and all that. They could make a LOT of money from that place if only they fixed up the employees and really got it rolling. The supermarket is overpriced and the aisles are crammed with stuff and the tiles on the floor are definitely not safe they are often sticking out so dangerous. Always lots of flies in the supermarket - in the bakery cases - everywhere - very unsanitary I never buy any food there and do not recommend anyone to either - just go into the supermarket and you will get a feel for how dirty it always is. Also on different occasion we walked in on a dispute with the girls and a customer the customer wanted a big party platter. The girls cashiers told the customer at first what they had carnitas in the front was all they had. Then later after the customer didn't leave and was discussing getting a platter of rice -which the girls had no clue how to charge they kept speaking to each other and finally the one standing at the register said they have more in the back...so yes they do make carnitas for days and its not fresh. read more

I visited mi rancho to get some Mexican products. shopping here definitely brought back fond memories as a kid with my parents. I did find some good buys and authentic Mexican products that I have been hunting for so thank you mi rancho! With that being said I wouldn't come here to buy fruits or produces they all looked pretty sad!! It seems like mi rancho got all the leftovers other grocery chains didn't want! I ordered a wedding cake from their bakery and it was not decorated the way I had ordered it. I think I could of decorated it better. I also asked for strawberry filling and instead of mixing strawberries with the creamy strawberry filling they mixed it whopped crème or something. So this is for the taqueria in particular. My mother and I went this early afternoon for carnitas, which we were told wouldn't be ready for another 1. When it came close to that hour we returned and rudely told they weren't ready still. This was about 45min till their closing time and according to them "it was still going to take awhile." My mom asked "wait if you guys close soon then you have to throw it out because you can't keep and sale it the next day?" To which one of the staff remained completely silent. According to my mom it's not ok for carnitas to be sold the next day they are suppose to be made and sold that same day. So besides being completely rude to my mother they tend to sale carnitas the day possibly multiple days from the day made. So beware. read more

I usually only come here 4 their fresh produce & meats. They're much less expensive than the Bel Air down the street. I love their fresh tilapia & its at least $4 less a lb. Here. however it is a market that caters to a Hispanic population, so its not a place I can do most of my shopping at (ie..they don't sell much lunchmeat, cheeses, frozen foods etc) but they do have a cheap jewelry shop in there.:). they've added a taquria in there & so now I go there 2 get the good, Real tacos. they're not as good as my truck but the tacos are loaded w/meat, that u can actually take some out & make.other tacos!! 3 tacos only cost $5 & they're real (not the Taco Bell cr__) & they have the best salsa bar I've seen here in Sac...they actually have homemade guacamole in the bar!! read more

Everything here was super cheap and the taqueria connected to the supermarket is so goood. I had 2 of their tacos because they had the meat on display and it looks so good I tried it. I live close so I've been coming here for years now and i always leave happy. The meat counter is definitly worth a visit. Its off of florin so you know the prices are low. The produce here is sometimes cheaper than foodmaxx(who guarantees the lowest prices in town). The alcohol here is reasonably priced. They have fresh bread everyday. And if that isn't enough most of the ladies working at the cash registers are very easy on the eyes and are courteous. Stop by if your in the hood lol read more

This store is insanely good. How have I lived here this long and not been in here? The tacos are to die for but other people have spoken to that. The grocery store itself is fantastic: the meat department! The produce! The bakery! The prices!!!!! It's also clean as a pin. I visited the taqueria tonight and am writing as someone who doesn't speak Spanish and is not Mexican. Yet, I DO expect customer service and decent food!!!! I just discarded the rest of my food b/c it was that terrible. I got the combination plate for $5.99 that came w the usual rice, beans, corn tortillas and shredded chicken, also came with a can of Coke. I first ate the beans and rice which was at best decent, then moved onto the shredded chicken and tortillas. The reason I discarded my food was b/c I almost choked on small bones hidden in the shredded chicken and bell peppers. That is TOTALLY unacceptable!!!! There shouldn't even be one bone in the meat!!! I will call and tell the manager who will most likely not care, but I hope whomever is reading this does and will take this into account. Also, the customer service was horrible. When I spoke to the lady at the taqueria, she pointed to a younger girl that spoke English better. This girl walked away while I took a moment to decide.So, again I turned to the first lady and she didn't even so much as say hello or smile. I purchased chicken here and it had gone bad. I tried to return it and they refused to give me my money back, even though it had the original sticker that showed the date and the store. The manager was very insulting to me, even accusing me of leaving the chicken out and then bringing it back. This actually was the 3rd or 4th time I had gotten bad meat from them, but I had given them the benefit of the doubt. I was just fed up with the low quality of their meat. I had been meaning to write this review but for one reason or another I had just not been able to post it. It still makes me angry to think of this incident till now. A few years ago I went in to buy some groceries and I was in a hurry with a fussy baby. Well to not make it so long my phone fell from my cart and it was stollen by one of the workers. She picked up my phone that had a teddy bear case on it and only turned in my phone case and kept my phone. I tried contacting the police but they did not want to bother coming out for a phone the manager of this store did not want to show us the footage but he did say that he saw the employee picking up my phone but said it was only my case. I didn't care much for the phone it was the pictures inside my sons newborn pictures and my husbands grandmas pictures that passed away last year. It's just a warning the girl is no longer working there but she did work many months after this incident even aftwr the manager knew she took my phone, so keep your belongings close.
