I had a pretty weird experience here because my girl and I actually visited twice in the same night, and the two visits couldn't have been more different. Our first stop was just a quick pregame before heading to another restaurant. We seated ourselves, and within a few minutes a server greeted us, introduced himself, and brought us menus. We kept it simple and ordered chips and salsa along with a taco since we didn't want to fill up we headed to the other restaurant. The chips and salsa were a great start. This was my first time being served a while fried tortillas instead of traditional tortilla chips, we had to break off tortillas yourself, which was a fun twist. Both the red and green salsas were delicious. I got a little heavy-handed with the red salsa because it definitely had some heat, but it was still really flavorful. The green salsa was my favorite. My girl ordered a taco since they have discounted tacos after 9 p.m., and it was really good. The service during our first visit was excellent. Our server struck up a conversation after finding out I was from Vallejo, and he mentioned his girlfriend was from Vallejo too. We ended up chatting for a bit about the area, and it made the experience feel very welcoming. Later that night, we decided to come back to actually have dinner, and unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite. We arrived about 35 minutes before closing, so I completely understand that the staff was getting ready to wrap things up. However, the first thing our waitress said was that they would be closing in 30 minutes and that we needed to order our food immediately because the kitchen was about to close. She also told us to order any drinks right away because the bar would be closing too. I understand letting customers know, but the delivery felt rushed and came across as more of an inconvenience than a welcome. For dinner we ordered the Baja fish taco, surf and turf taco, Korean fried chicken taco, pork belly taco, and carne asada taco. My girl ordered a margarita, and I had mocktail that had a hint of pineapple, I wish I could remember the name because it was excellent. As for the tacos, they were a mixed bag. (FYI the tacos are discounted after 9 PM). Baja fish taco was good, and my girl enjoyed pork belly taco with the pickled red onions. The Korean fried chicken taco was interesting. It wasn't served on a traditional tortilla, and while I wasn't completely sold on it, I'd be willing to give it another try. The biggest disappointment was the carne asada. Both the carne asada taco and the surf and turf taco had meat that was extremely crunchy, almost like the bits left at the bottom of the grill. It really affected the texture and made those tacos much less enjoyable. To top it off, while we were still eating, our waitress brought over the payment device, and her attitude remained just as unpleasant as when we first sat down. It made us feel like she couldn't wait for us to leave rather than wanting us to enjoy our meal. I understand we came in close to closing time, and I always respect that employees want to finish their shift. But if a restaurant is still open and seating guests, I believe those customers should receive the same level of hospitality as anyone who came in earlier. Because our first visit was so good, I know this place is capable of providing a great experience. The menu has a lot of tacos I'd still like to try, so might to give them another chance. Love mas taco bar. I've been to a few of their locations, but this one is my favorite. I ordered the Baja tacos and loved them like always. I think they're just so good. I also had a nice margarita, it was refreshing! I will definitely be back to this location. I'm glad they're open late for late night bites after a night out. The service has also been great. Took a break from Mas Tacos for several years. Upon returning I am not sure why I stopped going lol. The menu has evolved I noticed a few items were gone like the Steak/Egg and Oyster tacos. The new Chili Relleno taco was great, Drunken Chicken meh, Fish Taco small compared to Oscars but the Banh Mi Shrimp taco is still incredibly original and delicious. I've visited Mas Taco Bar a couple times over the years and on the latest visit we stopped in on a Thursday night during a night out for a friend's birthday. It was getting late and we arrived a little over a half hour before closing. We checked to make sure they were ok with us grabbing a seat and ordering some food and drinks so close to closing time and they assured us it was ok. We all ordered drinks and tacos and it's always fun exploring their menu and trying some of the different flavor offerings. I ended up ordering their banh mi shrimp taco ($4.65), Thai beef taco ($4.65), Pork Belly taco ($4.65), and grilled corn on the cob ($5.25). The corn was a great choice, it was one ear of corn broken in two pieces and served with mayonnaise crema, chili powder, cotija cheese and cilantro. I would order this every time, but I also love corn on the cob. I shared this with a friend and we both agreed it was great, Out of the tacos the pork belly was my favorite, followed by the Banh Mi Shrimp, and then the Thai Beef- the flavors were great on all of them but the beef was a little tough. Everyone in my party loved the food and we had fun talking and even were able to have some birthday cake before heading out and home. Mas Tacos was a disappointment for brunch, especially for a large group. We came with about 15 people and everyone ordered the bottomless mimosas -- which turned out to be bottomless orange juice. They were bright orange, flat, and tasted like they had only the slightest splash of champagne. On top of that, our server took ages to refill them and only brought one small carafe at a time, which barely covered two or three glasses. Paying for "bottomless" felt pointless. I ordered a taco that was tasty but extremely small for nearly $5. Someone in our group ordered a burrito, took one bite, and didn't want to finish it. The watermelon margarita is my fav, and the HABANERO BALLS...... my fiancée begs us to go just for these every time we visit. Food is good, there's lots of seating indoor and outdoor and many other restaurants around that are walking distance. I like the mas fries, and the al pastor tacos and potato taco. I've always had the happy hour food and appetizers. The mock tails are good too. Parking can get tricky since it's in an area you have to pay. There's a small lot next to it, but I usually pay for street metered parking. The service is good. The inside is also decorated very well with a large bar in the middle and plenty of seating around the restaurant. The staff are generally friendly, but the service may sometimes be lacking. Generally, they put utensils and napkins on the table in a cup, but if you don't have one, you have to ask for it. We arrived with friends who have a seafood and nut allergy, they were very gracious in flagging that for us. They mentioned that most of the fried meats are cooked in the same burner as seafood, but tortillas, chips, and tostadas are not. I generally always order off of the happy hour menu if I have the chance to. I ordered the Mas fries and the chips and guacamole. There are several tacos that are a dollar off for happy hour as well. The pulled pork nachos also looked fantastic. Some of our favorite tacos include the Indian butter chicken on naan bread, the Korean fried chicken on a laughing bun, Thai beef, and the impossible meat, and the banh mi shrimp on a laughing bun. We were a little disappointed by the battered fish taco the fish was fried well, however even with the sauce on it, it lacked a lot of flavor. Its front patio was ideal for soaking up the heat. Their version of a michelada had jalapeño slices floating in it without any of the spiciness. We shared Grilled Corn on the Cob ($4.25) which had yummy elote fixins & Habañero Fire Balls ($8.95) that was a little boring despite being very cheesy. I started with a more traditional taco, Drunken Chicken ($4.15), the beer braised chicken coated in tomatillo sauce, then moved on to a more unique offering for a taco spot -- Banh Mi Shrimp ($4.65.) Served in a bun rather than corn tortilla, this checked off all the Vietnamese boxes of pickled veggies, cilantro, & a sour-sticky Asian sauce. Delicious, but I wouldn't categorize it as a taco, per se. My bf enjoyed his tacos, as well, & commented that he'd never had such a meaty pork belly taco before! (Usually fat is its main ingredient, but not this one.) While our servers were nice when they finally came around, we were pretty much neglected from the time we sat down til the time they almost forgot to bring out our dessert. Mas Taco Bar was a great find! We ended up here after wanting to eat at a different nearby restaurant but were disappointed to find out they were only serving brunch. Luckily, Mas Taco Bar serves both brunch and their regular taco menu on Saturdays! We got a selection of 6 tacos to enjoy. The braised short rib and ribeye steak taco were hands down our favorite. The crispy Thai beef was also amazing but a bit on the spicy side. The butter chicken taco was clever, but I'd probably skip it next time along with the Baja fish as it was just slightly under seasoned. The service here is mostly good, but it is seat yourself so I imagine sometimes it may take some time for someone to notice you if they are busy. Food did come out very quickly after ordering! The location is great with a beautiful indoor and patio space. We sat outside and it was a perfect day for lunch on the patio. Surprisingly I really enjoyed the shrimp banh mi inspired taco that came on a bao bun. Second fave was the Baja fish, as it had a creamy, tasty sauce. Overall, we got about 10 tacos and the guac/chips for around $70 tax and tip included. Our waters weren't refilled and it was tricky trying to get the server's attention, but we survived - no biggie.
