My manager had been talking about Tripa Tacos, and I hadn't been able to find them anywhere near SLC until now...why didn't I try Mi Rico Burrito first? ‍ My original rating still stands because this place is awesome. This time i tried the fish, lengua (been into the lengua tacos as of late), and the tripa. The fish taco was okay... not my favorite, but decent. The tripa was different... earthy and crispy. And of course I really enjoyed the lengua tacos.

Beef taco pork tamale- just okay

As mentioned, very scary parking lot. I was actually nervous to eat inside because I was concerned my car would get broken into. Drug transaction going on and and and... I'm from arizona and spent 43 years there until recently moving to utah. So, I have very high standards. Place busy with all Spanish speaking customers. Some Of the soups and family meals looked legit. I got staples hard shell beef taco which is hard to find in salt lake and a pork tamale which is even more rare to find here. Tamale had little meat as did the taco but flavored well. Hard shell had some crunch but also soggie. By utah standards it's better than most... by Arizona standards a little below average but I'd come back and try more when I'm home sick.

    Lots of salsa options!

Huge menu! Very fast and huge portions. The mixed breakfast burrito I got was delicious and was so big, I couldn't even eat half! Also they have a ton of salsa options when you dine in. Lady at the counter was friendly and nice.

NOT ENOUGH MEAT.. and a whole lotta beans

Horchata is fire but they put toooo much beans, sour cream and guacamole, and very little meat. I found my burrito disgusting . Probably won't be back ever . Make sure u tell them to grill your burrito too or you'll just have a big sloppy mess .. 2 thumbs down

I'd like to first mention that the area where this restaurant is located is pretty sketchy. I only went through the drive thru and came across a prostitution deal occurring right next to me by the dumpster area in the back. The wait in the drive thru was a bit long. It was maybe 10 minutes before we were attended to, and no one else was around. The food was decent and considerably cheap. Food is 4 stars, service is probably 3.

17.48 for an asada quesadilla & side of guacamole

Got an asada quesadilla with a side of guacamole it's was ok got a few chunks of fat. Paid way too much! $17.48 didn't even get beans and rice with it. Way too pricey. Maybe the guy gave him self a tip? hmmm

This place was pretty good! I liked the fries, not soggy. Cooked just right. Usually I can eat a whole carne asada fries plate. But they hella hook it up I was super full. Will definitely be coming back.

Crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside. You can tell this chopped steak isn't frozen. Add that to a great diner run by great people, and it's a great visit overall. I highly recommend it.

So I think in talking to most of my friends I got a good view on the food, and presentation. I had a starter of Totchos, and the Beef Dipper for my entrée. Both were excellent, I shared my Totchos. These are tater tot nachos, they were excellent, normally I don't like cheese sauce on Nachos, but given the consistency and flavor of this sauce (house made, I'm guessing. Not canned) They were excellent. The Beef Dipper and Au Jus, also top notch! Generally in a French dip, there is a lot of fatty pieces, this was not that. Also at my table was the Chile Verde bowl, this one has a kick... but my friend having it really enjoyed it. The fish and chips was great, smelled fresh. Lets talk about the sides. Choice of Fries (appeared to be battered fries, always a favorite of mine.) Tots, or house made potato chips. I had the Potato Chips with mine, these were excellent, crisp and tender on the inside. The Athena (Lamb Burger) got rave reviews from one at the table The Service: Because we were in a large group they advised us they were going to be taking our orders as we came in so not to overwhelm the kitchen staff. Excellent communication throughout service given that we were a large group. I talked to one of the Owners, Laurie, I could tell she had a huge sense of pride in the place. Very friendly! The Restaurant: Great atmosphere, Fun artwork, best of all, VERY Clean, nothing sticky or no grease buildup on any surface. The glass ware on the wall behind the bar as all polished. In the bar area they stack their silver, tableware, condiments etc. in a cute little cozy box on the table, with the main dining area setup as a diner with the traditional paper napkin and silverware. For a diner motif to have shined silver and glassware is a nice touch! Summary: Eat here! The prices are reasonable, the food is excellent, when I looked at the menu online I was a little put off by no actual entrée's on the dinner menu, however the in house experience made up for that, it's a pub food vibe and they are doing it well!

Their burritos and fries are my go-to favorites. The burritos are just top-notch, but I have a soft spot for their fries -- it's kind of an inside joke for me. Whenever I go out to eat with people, they always say, "Well, I know what El is having," because I always get fries with my food. But theirs are surprisingly amazing. Fries are usually just "fine" or "good," but theirs? They're very good. The owner is incredibly kind, and their baked goods are fantastic -- especially the peanut butter brownie, which I can't recommend enough. Their soft serve is also really good, and I'm excited to try some of their candy next time. I even took a non-vegan friend there, and he really enjoyed the food. Beyond the food, the team is so nice, and they have a little vegan market with some really cool products. I bought about half a pound of vegan bacon from them, and now I'm making all kinds of breakfast sandwiches at home. If you're in the area, whether you're vegan or not, Sweet Hazel is a must-visit. And if you can't stop by in person, their partner company Break Free Candy ships their sweets, which is awesome. Seriously, if you order anything from the menu, make it the peanut butter brownie. It's life-changing -- and I say that as a huge brownie lover.
