    Emplumao burrito

Okay. Wow. Where do I even start. This place did not disappoint!! We arrived and there was only one other couple in the restaurant (how?!?!) It was a very clean space, not a speck on any table or the floor. The decor is so cute and homey and you can tell it was placed with intention. The young man who took our order was so kind. He told us of the daily special and suggested a few best sellers to try. I was on a mission for asada tacos, though. I was hoping for fresh toppings and a good salsa. And that's exactly what I got! We also ordered the Emplumao burrito. It was massive and so tasty. The woman, who I assume is at least a part owner, was absolutely incredible. From the food she made FRESH and TO ORDER to her outstanding customer service, she covered all her bases. She brought out some additional salsas for us to try and by the end of our meal, I was genuinely speechless. They sat behind the counter and spoke with us for some time. They told us some of their story and of their plans to expand the menu soon! While I'd be so satisfied if they never changed a thing, I'm so excited to continue to go back and try the rest! You can just tell that these people care about what they do. Authentic, delicious, 10/10 service. Will be back soon!!

I haven't been to another Mexican place since I first ate here. Raised in Texas and having lived in Utah for 30+ years, I can confidently say this is the best taqueria in the entire state. Bar none. Everything on the menu is made from scratch daily -- this includes the desserts and horchata/jamaica drinks. The staff takes exceptional pride in the freshness as much as the plate presentation, something most places skip over in the name of speed. See my photos for some absolute art that you'll be served. The tacos are overfilled with juicy meat and boatloads of extras and they are accommodating for preferences, in my case mixing chorizo and al pastor meats. Taco today and Thursday has these winners at 99¢ each! Get here early and order a ton of 'em! Prices are very competitive for the large portion size and they offer a delightfully varied menu with nary a heat lamp or prepackaged meal in sight. Fresh only. I'll also raise in a big hand for the pozole soup that I had tonight, chock full of pork chunks and hominy. It comes with a condiment tray with six assorted additions to customize. Slightly spicy and blasting with flavor, it was worth every second of preparation. La Palapa is an independent and locally- and woman-owned business. If you want to see smiles, beautiful art, and an attractive and clean taqueria, get on over. They're waiting for you and are very patient if you're learning Spanish and willing to try it out with them.

Great customer service, they greet you as soon as you come in, this is a local small businesses, a great business, and they achieve every step to make the customer feel welcomed. Food is amazing and tasty. This ladies know how to cook, we ordered Pastor Burrito that was delicious, my husband ordered 3 tacos, beef, pork and chicken, same well gone. Our drink was Cancun juice, it is fresh fruit, all natural. Our experience was 10 stars honestly, we are going to be back for sure, we learned that on weekends they will serve soups. Great food and amazing service, Jinia and the girls are very nice and they are happy to take care of you.

I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside, they have spent a great deal for this location. I ordered chips and salsa to start. These were not complimentary but when they arrived the salsa was fresh and unique. I was glad I ordered them. My wife chose the carne asada burrito. She raved about the flavor and could only finish half. I ordered a unique taco which had an authentic name this gringo cannot remember but it was built on a house made corn tortilla about twenty inches long and ten inches wide. Steak, Mexican cream, tomatillo sauce, freshly shredded lettuce and cheese. I've never had anything like it but it is awesome. The service was quick and efficient. Very delightful people. The check had included a 15% Service Charge so I was glad to see the options on the screen to add a tip began at a level that matched up with the service charge at a reasonable level. I only had one complaint, The music was a little loud. The sound system is great and I loved the authentic music but the baseline was pumping loud enough to hurt my ears. I'd recommend adjusting the volume or the mix to make it a little more comfortable. Overall I loved this experience and will definitely want to come again. No pictures, sorry.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I got a BOGO free burrito coupon from their FB feed, so why not? So glad I did! I had the spicy green chili burrito--delicious! Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. I found Real Taqueria here so it must be "Real"! I GPS'ed my way over here on East Murray Holladay Road (seems like different spellings here in Utah), it's just across the street from Trader Joe's. Parking was easy. I go in and the menu is up on the wall. I order my usual Al Pastor burrito. They offer two sizes, I get the grande (big one) for about $12.50, plus some tip. Prices here aren't bad compared to a lot of places. Service is quick and friendly. The inside is a little nicer than some real hole in the wall mom and pop places, like you know, where you actually think you're IN Mexico. They have outdoor dining as well. The food is up in just a short wait. It's a good sized burrito, that's for sure. I use the hand held method to eat. I don't go for that fork and knife way on a plate. I munch it down using salsa till I can tell, there's no way I'm gonna finish this whole thing right now. I get the rest to go. I'm glad I found this place, check it out for "real" Mexican food!
