Beto's isn't much to look at from the outside or the inside, for that matter, but they do what they do well, serve up big portions of cheap Mexican food. For lunch the other day, I had a shredded beef burrito and my friend ordered a California burrito. Both burritos were freshly prepared and tasted good. The shredded beef had a good flavor and the tortilla was good. Unfortunately the rice and beans were not so good. Would I eat here again? Probably not... just because the cleanliness of the place seemed lacking in the seating area and I can only wonder what it's like in the kitchen... I know that's just speculation, but I figure if you can't keep the area for the customers clean and neat then what hope is there for the kitchen? Wow this was really good! I'm from Phoenix and used to good Mexican food. To be honest, my expectations weren't high. I had the chili verde burrito with rice and beans and I would order it again. Nice variety of spicy salsas came with the order and the delivery was a few minutes earlier than expected and a super polite delivery man. Highly recommend! read more

I have only been here twice for the breakfast burritos- once with a colleague and once on my own as i remembered how good they were. The bacon burrito was good, but i preferred the flavor of the sausage burrito. I can't wait to try the regular burritos and hope they are as good/big as the breakfast burritos! read more

Beto's is what it is: cheap Mexican food. With places like this, you know what to expect. I've eaten at numerous locations in the past, as the food is great and plentiful. This time, however, I left with a bad taste in my mouth, doubting I'll ever return. The ambiance, food and prices were to be expected. What ruined it for me, though, was the service. Friendly? Yes. Fast? Yes. Sanitary? Absolutely not. I should have known better when the gal behind the counter coughed non-stop without covering her mouth. And, by non-stop, I mean every five seconds -- hacking all over the place without even bothering to turn her head away. If that wasn't bad enough, once we'd paid and gotten our food we sat down and were treated to her unpacking her makeup crate and painting her face right there at the counter. I think I'm done with Beto's. Or, maybe I'll revert to my college years when it was a good choice after a night out drinking with friends. read more

I should have read the reviews. The "New Name - Same Owner" should have been a clue. My worst dining experience in Utah EVER. When entering, you are greeted with a floor that may or may not be clean. It's in such bad condition one could never tell. Very unsanitary feel, nonetheless. We visited with a local calendar coupon cut out offering 50% off second combo. Cashier couldn't figure out how to take 50% off the second combo, so he just pushed the next less expensive combo button! and cheated me out of a dollar. I started to question it, but quickly realized there was no point. Although we were the only guests in the dining room, after waiting about 10 ,minutes, our "number" was loudly called out advising us we had to come and retrieve our meals. Almost comical. The biggest disappointment was yet to come. The food was so bad, it was not meant to be eaten. My beef burrito didn't have any beef. Just a tortilla filled with large onions and peppers. The rest of the combo was flavorless fill. Left the plate of garbage on the table, walked out, and drove to Taco Bell. I never thought I'd take the Bells Fast-Mexican-Food over any dining restaurant, but it was hands-down better. Don't waste your time and money. This place won't be here long regardless of how often they change their name. read more

Nice drive thru spot right off the freeway to get a cheap burrito. I've gotten the steak and Fuad burrito twice and it's been consistently good. They got a green sauce to go with it and it's amazing I'd recommend this as more of a drive thru rather than a dine it; it looks a little sketchy. Other than that, great food! read more

$2.99 breakfast burritos on Mondays and Tuesdays. They're enormous and tasty. The chorizo isn't my favorite... I'd recommend sticking with the bacon or sausage options. If you're in the mood for nachos, the Super Nachos are a good option, too. Plenty of food to share and really tasty. If you're in the area and want Mexican, it's the only place to go. We got two burritos and both were phenomenal. The totillas were soft and fresh and the marinated pork in mine was perfection. My husband's breakfast burrito was also super tasty. I eat at Mi Rico Burrito quite often during the week. I am a huge fan of their carne asada fries, once you try them you will be instantly hooked! This establishment definitely isn't the fanciest mexican food place, but if your looking for fast, cheap, and tasty this is the place. read more

A friend recently surprised me with the carne asada combo for lunch and I was very pleased with how delicious it was! The meat was cooked perfect and a really nice ratio of salsa and guacamole. I've had asada from other Utah fast food Mexican restaurants and don't usually care for it because it's typically not the best meat (gristly) but this was absolutely delicious. For years and years, I loved stopping by this location for a quick, meaty burrito. Good prices, quick service, convenient location to where I lived for a while. So after living away from SLC for two years, I was excited to go back for one of my burritos of gluttony. Unfortunately, they didn't live up to my memories. This Beto's rebranded into Mexquite around the time I moved, and I'm sad to say that it's not as yummy as I remember it. Probably because it's just not the same. The tortilla was honestly the only good part of it. The adobada, which I typically love, was way to spicy and vinegary, and the pico de gallo wasn't ripe. So disappointed. I was also a fan of their lovely house flan...which they don't make any more. They ship it in from a manufacturer, and it wasn't tasty at all. Maybe I came on an off day, but I think this burrito joint is officially off my "must eat on Utah trips" list. read more

The food is excellent. Double negative review here. Only one on food though. I live next door and eat here more than I should. Month ago I got a chimichanga. It was excellent as always. However I got side sauces from the salsa bar; they tasted weird and I was throwing-up 4 hours later. Went and talked with the manager the next day. She told me it was because the sauces were too hot for me.OK. Second negative review is I got fries with my order and I wanted to mix up some fry sauce. ketchup was free but mayo is $.80 about half the price of fries. Stupid. read more

I love coming on Monday or Tuesday for the breakfast burritos. The burritos are large and delicious, and I drench them in the amazing spicy guacamole sauce they have at the salsa bar inside. The pickled carrots onions and jalapenos are well done and aren't over-powered by the pickling spices like at some other places. Great Mexican restaurant, doesn't have the pretty decoration (they try) but i dont really care for that as long as it's clean. Great value, all combos are $5.99 including a drink. HUGE portion, i am a big guy and usually complain for place that dont give much food. I ate here 3 times and haven't been able to finish my meal. Best dang chile relleno ever!! The red sauce they use on top is better than anywhere else I've tried. The Utah burrito is also really good.. and the bacon breakfast. Mezquite is not Betos. I was hoping the food would be similar as I really wanted just 2 shredded beef tacos my fav Beto's indulgence. I got them to go, the service was quick and friendly and I rushed home to savor my tacos. Alas, I found 2 sad looking fried tacos not in a corn tortilla but in flour, YUK! They were cooked too long and the flour tortillas split so the shredded beef inside was deep fried into burnt crispy strands. I'd gladly support a small local fast food joint but the food has to be good and cooked right. Tacos are simple, if ya can't get that right I'm not going to try anything else. read more
