Overall, the food was just very salty, more than I expected, and it took away from what could've been a really solid meal. A few dishes were nearly impossible to finish because of how heavy-handed the seasoning was. I get that some places lean into bold flavors, but this crossed the line from flavorful into overwhelming. It's a shame, because the presentation and service were both great, and I could tell there was real effort behind the menu. We came with our kids prior to a Halloween function and I will say though our kids are older (teens), this place is better suited for date night, girls night, or a casual social outing. Their food menu is limited and you can tell that their crown jewel is the drink menu. The food was "ok" but we were most disappointed at the small cup of guacamole labeled as "table-side" for an exorbitant $15 dollars. I would say- come here for the vibes, drinks, and chips. If they didn't have food and it was purely a bar honestly I'd give it a 5/5. But I would give it a 3.75/5 if that was a thing since they are labeled as a restaurant I have to be honest and say I was not a fan of the food. The portions are affordable for sure, but super small. You would need 2-3 tacos to get full. Also, the menu is super limited so if you don't like the flavors of what you order you're kind of stuck. The chips like I said amazing out of this world- but the salsa as not my fave- and I ordered elote which I didn't finish because I didn't like it. On the up side, the interior is so gosh darn beautiful. I mean cmon- the lighting, furniture, tile work- to the T was perfect. I have a feeling it used to be a hair salon previously or they got some inspiration from that because it's super unique- like a boutique salon setup- open, and semi walled. You'll see when you walk in. Also, my drink was so delicious- especially with added simple syrup. It was floral and sweet just how I like it and beautifully garnished as well. Wish they had a more prominent location on the square, because unless you're local you might miss this hidden gem. Drinks are great and meticulously prepared. House margaritas are my go to. But....yall are sleeping on the food. They have a relatively small food menu but everything I've tried has been excellent. I might put their carnitas torta up against any torta in the Denton area. Bread is sooooo fresh, pillowy and delicious. Tacos...awesome. Nachos...awesome. Queso...perfect. Their homemade chips and salsa is my favorite in all of Denton. It's a simple recipe but it HITS. Went in for happy hour- changed the menu so no food on happy hour, no flights and $7-$8 margaritas aren't really happy hour. All good... Ordered queso and the server said the manager is at a catering event so they had no queso.... Said should be there shortly so we waited. After 20 minutes, we ordered guacamole to hold us over (which they graciously took care of)... and continued waiting. After an hour, the server said the manager returned but there is no queso. Fine... we ordered another round and to go order for food. The Menu items I ordered they did not have... so she told us what they did have. At home- I realized the portion sent home and was surprised at the portion of sides for a $17 meal- the rice and beans were in ramekin containers. This is a great place to hang with friends over happy hour, first date, anniversary, you name it, it's the place! Drinks are delicious. They have lots to choose from. Even if you're not a tequila fan the drinks are so good you won't even notice. Parking can be pain, but it's close to downtown Denton so it might be a walk. Service is always nice. The menu is limited, but also very good. They've increased the business hours so there's plenty of time to enjoy! read more

We tried this place today and loved it! The food was delicious, ... we shared the sampler platter and not only was it plenty for us all, but each item was so flavorful! We chose this place for a date night dinner on a Saturday. Upon walking in, there was no hostess to greet us and we waited 10 minutes until we approached the nearest staff member we could find. After that we waited another 15 minutes to be sat for a party of 2. It was a tad bit understandable given how busy it was. The ambiance was great, the lighting was low and moody which was perfect for a romantic date night. Once we got sat it took the server another 10 minutes to take our order, but we will say the chips and homemade salsa were delicious. We ordered the following: - Taco Flight with pulled pork, birria with the consome and vegeterian pastor. Unfortunately, they were completely out of chicken so that was not an option. This was a bummer considering this is a basic protein that most if not all restaurants carry. Other than that setback, all the other proteins were great! - Street Style Elote, honestly, nothing to rave about. It seemed to be out of a can. - Quesadilla with brisket and it was delicious! We love a good quesadilla and this did not disappoint especially with the chihuaha cheese it's made with. - Spicy pineapple margarita which was tasty and the mocktail lavender sour, also tasty! We did try to order dessert, but again, they were completely all out. Overall, the food made up for their lack of service and preparation on a Saturday night. Our server was friendly and we only saw her serving so she was busy. That would be on management to schedule more servers. We will most likely come back another time and hopefully they'll have chicken and desserts! read more

We of course asked for Guacamole the bartender jumped into action and made a bowl at the cart it was Amazing Perfect, spice tender avocados. We ordered some Empanadas and Bacon wrapped Shrimp. First the Empanadas are fresh made every day with tender slow cooked Brisket! The Empanadas are corn not flour based, which makes them even more authentic and delicious. The Bacon wrapped shrimp are absolutely mouth watering, crispy bacon wrapped around tender large shrimp!!! Mulberry St. Cantina was one of my favorite spots in Denton because of the people and infused tequila. I was heartbroken that the classic murals from MSC are gone, but I must say that Wild Cactus does not disappoint with the transformation. I love that there are plenty of unique seating arrangements for either a night out with friends or intimate date night. What truly makes the space pop are the plants provided by @trueleafstudio. The menu is Tapas based which are small savoury plates that are great to try new delicious dishes with friends. Highlights- Chicken Tinga Tostadas- these were so good! Be warned that they can be messy (or maybe I'm just a messy eater). Empanadas- brisket and Oaxaca Mexican cheese. I love empanadas and these were pretty good! I liked that they came with queso to dip, but I was more for dipping in the salsa for an added kick. Churro Cheesecake- this is a must! Definitely save room for dessert. The famous 100 margarita list from Milpa is here at Wild Cactus! I had a unique margarita called the Floral Harvest. If you like raspberry and floral drinks, it's worth a try! It wasn't too sweet and more on the bitter raspberry side. Next I'm excited to try of course all 100 margs, but to start I'm going to get the True Leaf or The Dentonite that are small tributes to our community. I'm excited to see what's to come for the Denton community with this transformed addition. Jorge shared some pretty incredible phases that I'm ecstatic about as well as keeping some Mulberry St. Cantina traditions like Trivia nights! Ambiance and drinks: 5 stars. Just don't go there hungry. Everything is a street taco, even quesadillas, which were just like a larger griddled street taco with no cheese. We had pulled pork, and it was so salty it was inedible. We told the server and he took them off the bill, so that was nice. Elotes was canned corn, also too salty. Left there hungry. Checked this place out Saturday for Happy Hour from 4-6pm, their Happy Hour are Monday-Sat., 4-6pm. I noticed the place was "seat yourself" during Happy Hour before 6pm, after 6pm, it seemed to have switched to "wait to be seated". If you're planning on checking it out after 6pm, make reservations for sure it did start to get busier promptly after 6pm. The plates are smaller and shareable here and the place is very scenic, lots of great ambience for you take a few pics for your IG! The place is similar to a Tapas Bar to me, great selection of food and drinks. The only negative I had leaving was paying for the chips and salsa, however, you get three different salsas and tostadas as your chips. It is way better tasting than just the regular house red salsa at a typical Tex-Mex place. read more

We went with a large group and we were a little underwhelmed. First there are only a handful of food items on the menu. Hard to call it a grill when there's nothing grilled available. Went during happy hour so luckily the prices were ok. But I would not go back during normal hours for the food or drinks. Imo, if you aren't going to have much food, at least do the drinks well.
