Carnitas with charro beans & rice

We've tried Mi Tierra in the past at a different location, so I was surprised to see there was one on 61st and Yale. This restaurant is a bit smaller than the others but they have lots of booths for seating. The servers were friendly and they had a huge selection on their menu. My mom & I ordered seafood. The fish was good but nothing extraordinary. The scallops were a bit overcooked. We thoroughly enjoyed the vegetables that came with the entree. My husband ordered the carnitas. They were tender and he enjoyed that they came with a grilled jalapeño. Not many places offer that. We would definitely be back to try some of their alcoholic beverages.

Here's a great example of what you'll find at Mi Terra. I was told that there were new menus with increased prices for the lunch special, but have verified that ISN'T correct! Comes with your choice of two items and two sides is for $8.99! I grew up loving the convenience of Bueno, but you CAN'T get a food anywhere near this good at this price these days. Just go and share YOUR experience with others--I don't require any thanks or credit, lol!!

I had tried the Mi Tierra Cocina Mexicana in Glenpool in 2023. It was not impressive. Same name and owner, but not always the same results...... I have found that with these local chain restaurants, different locations with different managers and different cooks can mean vastly different dining experiences. With that said I'm trying the newest location on Yale. Greeted and seated promptly. Good chips, fair salsas quickly arrived at the table. Ask for the hot stuff. You also get the restaurant's signature nasty white dipping sauce. Or salad dressing or whatever it is? Disgusting. Trying something very different for me, El Guapo. (no, not me, the meal is called El Guapo) El Guapo is two thin chicken breasts seasoned, then lightly fried to form a delicate crisp finish on the edges. Fresh spinach decorated the chicken and all that covered with queso. The menu offers a choice of charro or black beans, but the waiter did not offer either. The meal was delivered with refried beans and rice. An excellent meal this was. Simple, flavorful, a five-star plate of food. I found it, a meal that would bring me back to Mi Tierra Mexican Kitchen. My wife had the Fiesta Bowl with the chicken. A large bowl of fresh lettuce, black beans, pico, avocado slices and healthy a drizzle of crema. The chicken was a substantial serving of the same grilled chicken as my meal, only chopped. A tasty lunch special. Nicely decorated inside, modern décor, booths and tables available. The service was very good. It was midafternoon. Lunch time for a group of Mexican electricians that rolled up in their white vans. A working man's approved restaurant. I can go 5 stars.....excluding the white sauce.

All the food is great. The service is amazing and if you mess up on your order, they'll be graceful and help you with your order again. The ambience is amazing. The pictures are cool.

There's a parking lot in this plaza, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. They offered complementary chips and dips (salsa and queso). We ordered additional guac. The chorizo queso is sooooo good! I ordered the birria taco plate and I'd say this is very authentic compared to food back home (California)! They were generous with the birria and the consome is chefs kiss!!! The staff did a wonderful job in assuring our needs were met and that we were satisfied. I hope this place is just renovating and hopefully will reopen in the foreseeable future. I would love to see this place continue to thrive!

Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

A vibe. The…read moreminimalist adobe-like layout reminds me more of southern Utah, Arizona and New Mexico than Oklahoma, but it works and it's a comfortable space - even if your table is pretty close to your neighbors. The menu features many Mexican food favorites. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and more. They're cooked well and served in large portions by a helpful server. A note - some of the dishes are plain and include a protein charge. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm okay with it if it's explained. I was confused during my visit because my enchiladas listed a $2.50 protein charge, but the protein charge was for each enchilada not the plate, so my three enchilada plate was $7.50 more than it was listed because I asked for chicken. I don't necessarily feel cheated, however I was surprised when the server gave me the bill. $2.50 is one thing. $7.50 is a lot more.

As what was stated over the phone, the moment we walked in, we were seated. The place is very intimate in space, I'd recommend for dates. I went with the Enchiladas, something I've been craving for a couple of months & La Tertulia helped that fix. There were a few meats to choose from & I went with chorizo. The wait on the food wasn't long (people were starting to fill in as well & it didn't stop the servers from being on point) & the food was really good. Coming in with 3 enchiladas, stuffed with the chorizo & the fixins, I was left full after I finished. The spanish rice & pinto beans were good as well, paired good with the enchiladas. The chorizo looked more like breakfast sausage more than the chorizo that's more on the dark brown + reddish tint I'm used too. The enchiladas also come with chiles (I picked green) & plenty of cheese. Side Note: Chips & salsa were also super good, my favorite type of salsa. Kinda like a Taquera/Molcajete style. I was so hungry that the chips & salsa didn't slow me down from running through my main entree.

I've heard of the highly lauded 918 Maples Tacos & Cantina many times since I moved back so I finally decided to try it on August 28th, 2025. Since then, I've experienced 918 Maples on different occasions and I'd say that it deserves the high praise. I've eaten at 918 Maples atleast 4 times, twice at the food truck (4931 S Union Ave.) and twice at this location. On 8/28, I arrived around 5:50pm. The walls are filled with color & different decorations, from murals to Latin-American art as well as TV's behind the bar for entertainment. The area is very home-like, compact, with just enough space for walking lanes. There's only one booth while the rest of the seating is either tables or at the bar. The host podium is at the door immediately upon entrance, I sat at the bar. Their menus are large but not overwhelming. On Tuesdays, tacos are $2 each. This doesn't include Birria, fish or Shrimp which are $3 or $4 on Tuesdays. My server was Diego, great guy! I ordered 5 Tacos: 2 Birria, 1 chicken 1 Carne Asada and 1 El Pastor. I also ordered a Paloma and a small queso. The meal comes with chips & Salsa, brought out immediately. Their chips are thicker and their salsa is mild. Add a little salt, good to go! I'm a fan of white queso but I particularly enjoyed theirs, worth the $2. The food came out within 10mins, not long at all. Two ramekins of salsa & 4 tacos. Each taco was amazing individually. The el pastor had crispy edges on the meat, the carne asada was soft & delicate while the birria was to DIE for. Only criticism is that the chicken was a little too salty but not terrible overall. As I mentioned, I ordered 5 tacos, queso & a Paloma but only received 4 tacos. I wasn't upset about the paloma, I could do without. But, I was a little uneasy about being shorted 1 taco, especially since I paid for 5. However, I didn't fret. I paid the bill & praised the staff because they deserve it! Since then, I've returned once or twice. Each time, usually on a Tuesday, the space is decently filled which a sign of a well-run & good quality establishment and the food is just as good. I consistently ordered tacos but I would gladly try their Queso Chicken, Rustic Quesadilla, or Birria Pizza. I've had their tacos at their food truck as well and, though the ambiance isn't comparable, the service is sweeter & the food is just as good. Bummer that their food truck doesn't do discounted tacos on Tuesdays. Photos here are from 8/26/25, 9/16/25 and 1/6/26. Had it not been for the forgotten taco, this would be a FULL 5-Star review!

It's not a large place and only has perhaps four or five booths and a half-dozen tables, and it fills up fast at lunch. They're known for their "Wet Burrito," but the enchiladas and burritos are also outstanding. The refried beans are fresh and made in-house. The salsa is freshly made too and very good, but not memorable like the food. You'll see people from all walks of life eating here - couples, single moms with children, police officers, business people, blue collar workers, and everyone in-between. However, as of this review, be aware that Utica Avenue, just east of the restaurant, has been blocked to north-bound traffic only for water main replacement, so getting into the neighborhood is easier than leaving.
