The decor was very nice, Gram/Facebook worthy. The chips have tahin on them and the salsa is a mango. I did have to add salt to the salsa, personal choice though. Melissa was our waitress and she was amazing. It is a Sunday night and not too crowded but everything was hot and fast. The freshness!!! I had the seafood enchiladas and my husband had the ribeye tacos. Everything was seasoned well and delicious. I had the pineapple and Jalapeño margarita and my husband had the top shelf margarita flight. My margarita was excellent, fresh jalapeños and my husband said his flight was really good also. Food was very good. The televisions had horrible stuff playing. Several Children in the restaurant as well as our 3. We ask could that be changed. The waiter said oh yes I'll do it now. Turned around and started talking to another waiter and never changed it. And no he didn't forget! read more

This place opened up in the old Quaker Steak in Gonzales so lots of room for dining! We went during opening and have been back since. A solid 3.5 but I rounded up since service was great since our first visit. The place is a little more pricey than some of the other Mexican restaurants near it but the quality and portion size I has been on point so I'll give them that. The margaritas are pretty good and the food comes out promptly. I get their queso as well but it's not my all time fave. It needs a little heat or something to eat but it's not bad. Just not the best in town. The chips have some seasoning on them which is different from most places here. Overall I would recommend. First time trying out this new place and it was pretty good! As soon as I walked in I heard the Mexican music blasting and I knew I was in a Mexican restaurant! The staff is very welcoming. When we first sat down i immediately ordered a sangria frozen margarita and it was very good! I could definitely taste the sangria in the margarita, it was very strong and prominent! I then ordered the shrimp fajitas and it was very good! The shrimp were seasoned to perfection! I'm not sure what type of seasoning they used but it was good! My mom ordered the chicken quesadillas and she said that it was very good! She enjoyed the chicken and she said the chicken was seasoned well. She said the only thing is that she wish that they had more options when it came to sides. Our waiter was super nice and he also explained everything to us about the menu. read more

This location is brand new. It's by the Cabela's & Don's Seafood in Gonzales. Lighting and ambiance was all very nice. Beautiful artwork as well. My husband and I had some drinks and the food came out fast and it was hot. Our server was vey pleasant. Lots of parking. Reasonable prices. read more

Best taco salad Iv had, hubby got chicken quesadilla which was delicious too he said. Margarita very good. Service good. Asked to turn music down couldn't hear waitress and couldn't have much of a conversation. She said she put in request to turn music down but still the same volume the whole hour we were there. We visited this restaurant on the last day of a trip here from Arlington, Texas. The food was horrible! There is no way to really explain it except that it did not taste good. I had asked for spinach enchiladas with light cheese on the inside. They basically gave me spinach sandwiches with cheese on the top mixed in with the sauce. The tacos were not much better. Taco Bell is better... And that is not saying much. We will not be coming back again. The chunky guacamole appetizer was the best part of the meal. read more

I'm on the road frequently for work. So it's always a bonus to find a solid Mexican restaurant with good food service and ambiance.

This is the newest Mexican spot in town and it was SO good. The vibes were there and the food and margaritas were 10/10. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I feel like it could be updated a little with new chairs and tables, pretty sure chairs are from when Quaker steak was there and not really the kind of chair you can relax in for chips & salsa and margs. Also, may have just been where they sat us which was located on the very end left side of the restaurant. Other than that 10/10 and will be back! read more

I'm 60 years old, well-traveled, and I can honestly say this was the worst Mexican food I have ever had -- and that's saying something. First off, it took forever to get our food. When it finally arrived, the chicken tasted like it had been reheated from a bulk pack at Sam's Club. The chips and salsa? Horrible. How do you mess up chips and salsa?! We ordered a molcajete -- which should come sizzling and steaming -- but nope. It came out lukewarm, sad, and completely lifeless. Even the quesadilla was bad, and honestly, if you can't get a quesadilla right, it's time to hang up the apron. Don't even get me started on the margarita. It tasted like someone waved a lime over tap water and called it a cocktail. The service was just as bad -- we felt completely ignored, like our table didn't matter. Maybe they treat their regulars better, but we sure didn't feel welcome. And to top it all off, it was expensive! I could've eaten Taco Bell for two months and been HAPPY -- and at least there, I know what I'm suffering for. Will never go back. Hope I just saved you from the same mistake. Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday (only six tables had customers). The restaurant was pretty empty, so service was quick. Food came out quickly and was hot! The shrimp tacos were delicious and the charro beans were great with the Mexican rice. The chicken/steak fajitas were also good. The chips served upon seating were so good I asked to take some home and rewarmed them in the air fryer! The only two reasons I'm giving one less star is because the music was so loud we could barely have a conversation with only two at the table. Also, the 4% fee that is passed on to the customer when paying with a debit/credit card. Overall I'd go again, and make sure I have cash and some noise cancelling headphones. read more

The food and service is okay. BUT they make NO mention until you get the bill that there is a 4% FEE. Then it says you get a 4% DISCOUNT if you pay cash! But it isn't a discount. It is an unannounced fee that they slap on your bill that they will not add if you pay cash. The audacity to call it a "discount" is really unbelievable. I find this very objectionable. read more

The kids meal tacos were good, but the adult meal I don't know how to explain this but made us very very sickNumber 2 in the bathroom. Next up, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves think; after we went out of a restaurant we were like yelling and we had a headache. The music made us want to bash our heads against the wall, even if it's good music it was so loud it didn't matter. While we waited for our check for 20 minutes the waitress was picking her butt then went to go grab a plate of food. The paintings are really, really creepy. They are paintings of mariachi singers but their faces were of like weird looking white people, almost like celebrities maybe that were staring at you while you ate, super creepy. There is a big mural at the back in a corn field that is good though. The TVs kept playing infomercials which was really annoying and the waitress didn't know how to ring up our meal. Super unprofessional. We ordered a coke and it was gross, it tasted like watered down cinnamon water. We will never be going back there but I'm sure this business will be another in a long line of failed Gonzales restaurants so that doesn't matter. A tip for the owners, next time you change a Quaker Steak and Lube to a Mexican restaurant, maybe change the gas station pump handles on the front door... it's like you're not even trying to be a legitimate restaurant. A co-worker was raving about this restarurant, so I thought I would bring my wife and kids to dinner on a slow Tuesday night. Got there around 8:30, they don't close until 10. With it being so slow, it was way over-staffed. This let to disappointment in having to watch staff members laying down in booths across from us, and playing with each other inappropriately. The food was no better. Way over-priced, way under-delivered! We got the street corn to start, and I asked the server if the corn was fresh or frozen. She said fresca, but I'm pretty sure she had no idea what I was asking, becasue it was defintely frozen corn cobettes, flavor was good, but overall the dish was a disappointment. I had the burrito a la parrilla, it was luke warm at best, no crispiness to the tortilla at all, and the sauce was straight up queso (white american cheese), and the meat inside was dry and over-cooked, like it had been cooked earlier and left on the steamtable (although then maybe it would've been hot inside). My kids split a nacho and didn't eat much, again not very good, because they destroy the ones I make.My wife had the Fajita poblano and it was probably the best dish, although the meat was a little over-charred, still edible. Overall flavors were good, but execution and employee interactions were not worth the price: $93.90 for 2 sodas, 1 iced tea, 2 meals, a ncho plate and (3) corn cobbettes. And we left a 20% tip on top. read more
