I originally wanted to go somewhere else for oysters because I love mine loaded with lots of butter and Parmesan etc. I even suggested one of my favorite spots that I always visit when I'm in New Orleans but insisted, "No, no, no you have to try Mike Anderson's!" So, I gave it a chance. We made reservations and were seated almost immediately, which was a great start. The restaurant was a little cold inside, the strawberry lemonade was delicious and the food overall was very good. The oysters were actually really good! I was especially excited that they let me try one I had never seen on a menu before, the BBQ oysters jalapeño. It was fun stepping outside of my usual order, I was glad I did. It was a rainy day, so we ended up getting pretty soaked coming in and leaving but that certainly wasn't the restaurant's fault. What really stood out was the service. Our waiter was incredibly accommodating, attentive and friendly, the entire waitstaff made us feel welcome. The restaurant was also clean, bathroom as well which I always appreciate. Every time we travel to this area we have to return to Mike Anderson,s. It reminds me of classic Louisiana seafood restaurants dining, white tablecloths and all. All the standard fried seafood is what you hoped and is the best. Rich dark Seafood Gumbo with layers of flavor. I enjoyed the Gulf boiled shrimp and sweet corn on the cob. Shrimp was very fresh, perfect seasoned and cooked, meaning peeling the shells easily fell off. My wife and I shared the Yellow Fin Tuna Steak blacked just right. All in all a wonderful dining experience capped off with coffee and turtle pie topped with praline ice cream! If given the chance we will return. Keep up the great work fellows. read more

I came in with some friends for a lateish lunch and everything we had was really good. I've been here several times but it's been a while so it's nice to see they've remained keeping good quality. Came here for a family gathering right after Christmas. Place was packed! We made reservations so we were seated right away, towards the back. The place was decorated beautifully for the holiday. We were served promptly. We got a couple different appetizers including the bread and the gator bites. The bites were super yummy. The bread hot and fresh, but a touch heavy on the garlic. We also tried the spinach and artichoke dip which was very tasty. I had the grilled chicken with veggies and a loaded baked potato. The potato was awesome! We booked a large group of 30 for a celebration lunch at 1:30pm At 3:30pm we still didn't have our meal. Lots of confusion from the minute we arrived. Hostess wouldn't seat us even though we have 20 people waiting. Room was a little warm but only excuses of the sun warmness We were treated like 3rd class citizens for our entire device experience. Only 2 waitresses could be assigned to our party and they we're extremely slow with everything, water and even refills I know restaurants experience busy times, short of help but this may keep me away from this restaurant in the future. Okk yall, this is my favorite location. It's clean and consistent. I love the oysters from here and the drinks. Service is great and always prompt. I find the Prairieville location is inconsistent so Gonzales is My preference! I love to sit in the bar area and do quick bites and a cocktail. I like the blueberry lemon drops because you can't go wrong.. it hits EVERYTIME! I also get the Harrytini for more of a get you there experience, it's a lot of vodka with a splash pineapple lol. read more

This is the first time we've been to this location in a very very long time. We were seated on the patio that's been remodeled and closed in. Although it was really busy during the lunch time, the service and food were very good. We had chargrilled oysters, a shrimp poboy, the whole catfish with a baked potato, and the Cajun plate. I went here with a group of 16. They were able to accommodate us with a reservation the day of. They allotted one server for our table which ended up not being too bad. Holy moly the oysters are HUGE and tasty with the bread. You have to get the oysters. Most meals come with a salad of your choice between house or Caesar. The stuffed mushrooms were a great add on for appetizers. I got the norman, it was a cozy meal with really large shrimp. I personally would've liked something more spicy. Every time I visit the Gonzales area I have to at least visit Mike Anderson's for a dinner. This trip I actually went two nights in a row and with the variety of choices there is now way to be bored with the selection! The location is adjacent to the Clarion Conference center so don't be confused when entering the hotel parking lot. It has its own entrance to the right of hotel. Every meal I have had is exceptional and service is right on point. Since traveling alone I usually sit at bar area which is well staffed and a great atmosphere to meet others in town and locals alike. I highly recommend trying the grilled oysters if given the chance which is cooked right there in front of you! The Shrimp Norman will not disappoint and leave you filled with the fresh shrimp covered in sauce. Will continue to visit this establishment on my upcoming trips to the area so if you haven't been then you should go for it! read more

A fan favorite, particularly when in this are and looking for a decent sit down restaurant. There are limited/few options but this is convenient. I called and made same day reservations for 8 which was good because they always have a wait. When we arrived, we were quickly seated and waited on. The waitress was polite, fast, and used terms of endearment excessively like "baby" but it's Louisiana so what do you expect. The food was brought out quickly though the temperature of the food wasn't very hot. It was warm at best. We both had fish. One was a drum topped with crab meat and the other was mahi mahi topped with shrimp and crawfish. It could have used a tad bit more seasoning and definitely been hotter but it was relatively good. I also ordered a dozen of charbroiled oysters which were also flavored well but wasn't very hot. I'm used to my food coming out piping hot, especially the oysters. I'm not sure if it sat in the window longer than it should have before being brought to the table but nonetheless it was warm. From a cost persuaded, I think it was a bit over priced for what we got. My bill was $150 including a 25% tip for two. We had these two dishes pictured, the charbroiled out, and 2 waters. We didn't order alcohol or soft drinks, nor did we have dessert. read more

This time we got to sit in the dining as we went early to meet with our client how recommended it as his go to in the area when he is down from Baton Rouge. My coworker offered to share some of our and we both gave him a resounding "no you will need to get your own!" Our waiter Hunter actually suggested that we order one order of a dozen and one half dozen to save $5 vs ordering 3 1/2 dozen oysters. This was an appreciated touch since many wait staff will just let the bill stack up for a hire percent type. The oysters arrived quickly and just as fast as they arrived they were gone. My coworker enjoyed them so much he actually scrapped out all of my shells when I was done. Next was the main course and my seafood platter looked impossible to eat all by myself. The fish, crawlers, crab claws, shrimp, stuffed shrimp and his puppies were cooked to perfection and had such an amazing taste. I sampled everything but couldn't finish but a 1/3rd of its contents. Went for a family dinner and first stopped at the Prairie View location and was met with rude & unpleasant staff who made racist remarks about not wanting to serve us. Without any apology we left and went to the Gonzalez location where staff ans our server, Micah was wonderful. The restaurant was nice, clean and spacious. The whole fried catfish, gumbo & green tomatoes were amazing but the star of the show was the Charred Oysters! Hands down the best oysters we've ever had, cooked to perfection & topped off with a parmesean, garlic finish. It keeps us going back time & time again. We informed our manager, Stacie of the incident at the other location & without hesitation she sprung into action to handle the matter.
