I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was beyond unacceptable. They do not even deserve the one star. I initially contacted Mia Aesthetics for a mommy makeover and submitted photos as requested. I was told a doctor had reviewed them and confirmed I was a candidate for the procedure. Over the next 2.5 months, I received repeated calls from representatives following up on paperwork and clearance. Nearly every interaction felt scripted, and basic questions about my procedure went unanswered. Communication was extremely frustrating. From the very beginning, I repeatedly asked when I would meet with the surgeon. I was either told I'd have to pay an additional fee just to see him (with no guarantee of availability), or reassured that I would meet him at my pre-op appointment and have all my questions addressed. After submitting a negative survey based on my experience, I was contacted by a "customer care specialist", Robert, who assured me everything would be resolved at pre-op and that I would feel confident moving forward. That did not happen. At my pre-op appointment, I waited over an hour, was pressured to pay my remaining balance before ever meeting the surgeon, and ultimately was seen by someone who was not the doctor. I was then told, at that point, that I would not meet the surgeon until the next day which was the day of surgery. Completely unacceptable. The day of surgery was even worse. I was prepped, in a gown, IV started, and STILL had not seen the surgeon. When he finally came in, it became clear he had never reviewed my original photos. He immediately began suggesting entirely different procedures (breast lift, fleur-de-lis tummy tuck) and told me I would not be happy with the results of what I had been approved for months prior. This was the first time I was hearing any of this; minutes before surgery. I was left in tears. How does a facility approve a procedure without the surgeon ever reviewing the initial photos? Who made that decision? No one could answer. To make matters worse, the alternative procedures came with additional costs, of nearly $20k that were only presented at the very last minute. This felt incredibly misleading. When I escalated the situation, the response from management was dismissive and unprofessional. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the situation appropriately. I ultimately canceled my procedure on the spot. This entire experience felt like an assembly line operation where patient care and transparency take a back seat. I also overheard another patient canceling her procedure the same day, which speaks volumes. If you are considering surgery here, I strongly urge you not to do it. Not meeting your surgeon until the day of surgery and discovering that he never saw my original photos in addition to major changes being suggested at that point is not just frustrating, it's unacceptable. read more

Dear Dr. Horowitz and the Mia Aesthetics Team, I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the results of my recent procedures and the overall experience at your New York office. My experience was marked by several significant issues: - Inadequate Consultation: I did not meet my surgeon until the day of the procedure, leaving only ten minutes to discuss my goals. I was told I did not need the flank liposuction I had already paid for, and I was subsequently denied a refund for that portion of my package. - Suboptimal Surgical Decisions: Despite the surgeon advising that 290cc implants would be a better fit for my measurements, he proceeded with 265cc. As a result, I have significant loose skin and no fullness at the top of my breasts. - Failed Tummy Tuck Results: The primary goal of my tummy tuck was to remove loose skin. However, the same loose skin remained visible just two days post-op. Despite bringing this to the doctor's attention repeatedly over the last six months, I have been met with excuses and told to wait. - Poor Customer Service and Communication: My initial surgery was delayed due to disorganized paperwork. Furthermore, follow-up communication has been nonexistent; I was told someone would reach out within two weeks, but I had to initiate contact myself two months later. - Additional Fees: I am now being asked to pay an additional $2,500 to correct issues that should have been addressed during the initial surgery. I made it clear that I only wanted to undergo surgery once, and I do not believe I should be charged to fix these results. I am incredibly disappointed in the quality of work and the lack of professional accountability. I am requesting a resolution that does not involve paying additional fees for a retouch of the original procedure. I look forward to your prompt response. Horrible experience that doctor didn't care he laughed while I was in pain and crying I don't recommend

I had a very frustrating and unprofessional experience with this clinic. When I went in person, I never even saw the doctor an assistant told me about the procedure. I specifically requested a letter confirming that Dr. Horowitz would perform my surgery and outlining all the procedure because it's my body, and I want to make sure everything is handled safely. The clinic refused to provide any confirmation without a deposit, and once you pay, the deposit is non-refundable. I was initially told that the doctor was available on November 11th, so I went through the process at my job to request vacation time which takes 5-7 days only to now be told "if the doctor is available." Reading reviews online, many people mention last-minute cancellations and being assigned other doctors, sometimes with no experience or reviews. Some even reported waiting 12 hours for surgery. This is not acceptable, and I felt the clinic did not take my concerns seriously. They also never answer the phone, making communication nearly impossible. I was booked with the Brooklyn office but cancelled it as I lost confidence in MIA's safety. Once you part with your deposit, having spoken to someone who seems competent, you are handed over to a concierge team, very nice, but English is not anyone's first language and you never speak to the same person twice. No one seems to have insight or a full picture of your case. They cover themselves by sending a ridiculous amount of emails asking for things. I spoke to my primary care doctor who had questions about some of these asks, he felt other tests were more appropriate and some didn't make sense given my procedure, but I literally could not find anyone who had the ability to answer questions. In addition to the language and comprehension issues it became clear the lab team was overworked. At one point, labs on the phone told me a neurological test was overdue. She did not know why the test was needed and my primary care physician couldn't figure it out either. I was irritated when concierge asked me if I "was excited". Every single phone call was followed up with an automated customer satisfaction bot --- who is monitoring their team? Also, I asked for certain items that were a "special" at point of purchase to be set out on my invoice clearly so when it came time to challenge why I was being charged for something it would be there in black and white. Never happened. I cancelled my surgery and forfeited my deposit which is 10% of the procedure, so not a small amount. They call it a "booking fee". I feel good about not moving forward with surgery because the lead up process destroyed my confidence that my safety was high on MIA's priority list. read more

I reached out earlier to this clinic in a last ditch attempt to fix something that they permanently left on my body . It was a very large concern which I thought was being addressed properly but apparently not I received surgery the 28th of February of 2024 which is now over a year which I understand is way past policy but it is incredibly infuriating. I noticed a dent in my right side which is quite large and very noticeable and if felt you can feel the muscle underneath and it is not normal. I went into this surgery to begin with, with large body image but left with just another issue it is impossible to wear anything form fitting without this dent showing and I didn't pay as much as I did so not be able to feel comfortable in my body and I didn't pay the money to have to go back and spend more to fix something that shouldn't have to be fixed .when I went in for my consultation after the surgery I was told by the nurse that the swelling played a large part in the dent but I shouldn't be concerned and it would look much better once my swelling had gone down within the year I didn't sign up to be mutilated. After calling to adress my concern I find it incredibly frustrating and ironic that I have to pay over 6,000 dollars to fix it and this is considered that my first surgery didn't cost this much to begin with I obviously am not asking for a had out or a free surgery but it is incredibly frustrating that this is an issue to begin with and it's being handled not as a woman who now carries a dent on her body permanently after a botched surgery just wants to feel good about herself but as another business transaction . I went in with my cousin that day who was left more messed up than I was and got her "retouch surgery" and now she's moving on to her third surgery in attempt to fix what this clinic has done and failed to fix. I had terrible intake experience bc of being transgende. I asked for an additional procedure and was denied it bc it wasn't originally not added and I had only requested one initially. The staff just simply said no and were very rude when I inquired why not. btw the procedure that I wanted add was very basic and noninvasive. I felt brushed off and treated poorly. when I went for my lab workup the lab had made a request for the doctors license/ credentials and to my surprise the number given by the mia aesthetic was invalid and didnt match the number they had provide. I was recommended this place from a friend that had 2 procedures done the same day with this same location with no problem. But once i asked I was quick denied and even the doctor was changed after my request with no explanation. Now they themselves have cancelled my procedure and no longer want to even do the surgery..... with no explanation or resolution......so yes I feel discriminated and treated unfairly. read more
