I was on the hunt for a black dermatologist and found Ingleton. When I called to schedule an appointment I was informed that Dr. Ingleton was booked solid for a month. The receptionist advised that there was another doctor who was available to see me ASAP. I was skeptical but agreed since my skin was breaking out badly. I saw Dr. Ashton and it was a great experience. He took the time to listen to my concerns and came up with a game plan to get my acne under control. I was in on my way with samples and a prescription. The office is super clean and all of the staff members are pleasant. I purchased her super fruit exfoliation tonic and future bright dark spot vitamin serum, which led to breakouts, burned my skin, and seemed to have allergens. It doesn't seem to be clean; it's likely made with PORK because I know they use PORK in some cosmetics. It's unacceptable to misrepresent clean water and vegan claims. It must have some contaminated water in it; it smells terrible and has been tested. I've been a loyal patient at this office for 2 plus years now and I'm proud to report my skin has improved dramatically. I suffered from cystic acne from 21-24 and after trying a few different doctors and my skin getting worse, ended up here after watching her on the Dr. Oz show. Now i do feel that skin of different races is different and therefore has to be handled and treated differently. Mine was very oily and the cystic pimples deep in the skin were irritating beyond belief. But fast forward, 3 laser treatments later to treat my keloid scarring due to old acne and a topical medication + pills to treat the current cystic acne I now have clear skin and I'm not on anything more than a light facial cleanser at the moment. What I did appreciate about Dr. Ingleton is that she'll tailor her treatment to fit you individually. There is no one program that works for everyone's skin across the board. Patience is also key; I had a ton of questions and concerns that she'd constantly address on my monthly visits. If you're in search of a Derm like such, definitely give them a shot. I was recommended by my NP at Freelancer's Medical to see Dr. Igleton. After talking to the receptionist a few times about finding the right time to see her, we settled on Friday August 22nd. The Thursday before I almost forgot because no one called about confirming or anything. I just called this morning to make sure I'm seeing Dr. Igleton and I was told by the receptionist ( a different one) that it was impossible that I was scheduled to see her today because she's on vacation. Um. What? Apparently I was scheduled to see her Nurse Practitioner. I was never informed of this, nor did anyone call to see if that was okay. I scheduled my appointment a few weeks ago and was told today that her next appointment for new patients isn't until October. I've been dealing with a crappy skin condition and was really looking forward to having someone help me out, but I guess it's not going to happen here. Dr. Ingleton is thorough and spends ample time with each patient, that is her job; however, her staff and practices are bad and that will continue to jeopardize her ability to retain patients. -2 stars: One of Dr. Ingleton's female employees called me to give me some results. This woman's bedside matter was just god awful and she had no idea how the medicines the doctor prescribed were supposed to be used. Of course she said the doctor wasn't available when I asked her if she could ask the doctor. I have an excellent local pharmacist who properly instructed me on how to use the medications she prescribed, but what if I didn't? I understand these NYC doctor's offices overstaff and there are dozens of people running around working for the same doc; however, it would be nice if the doctor herself could call and give patients their results and answer their questions. That is her job after all. No one is that damn busy. -1 star: I called to schedule an appointment in October and was told by one of Dr. Ingleton's female receptionists that her soonest appointment was in January! I scheduled, but my gut told me to call back. Luckily, I got George who was able to put me in for an appointment a week from the day I called. I hope that he continues to be professional and resists being influenced by Dr. Ingleton's employees and their chicanery. -1 star: Exorbitant fees. If you've been here you know what I mean. If you haven't been here, you don't want to find out, so I'll just leave you with this: we're all in the business of making money, but life happens, and charging patients for that is disgusting. There are plenty of derms in New York City, and Dr. Ingleton's office has her fair share of top billing clients. Everyday people like you and me aren't doing her any favors! She'll be alright. I miss the days when I could visit a doctor's office and there were only 2-3 people working there: the doctor, his/her receptionist, and possibly a PA or nurse. Now there's this assistant, that assistant, this nurse, that nurse, this student, that student, this receptionist, that receptionist, this clerk, that clerk... The overstaffing has gotten out of control! I guess I'm accustomed to paying for and receiving discreet, quality medical care. I'm also accustomed to not being haggled by doctors and their staff to leave 4 star and up Yelp! reviews (again, if you've been here before you know what I'm talking about.) I have been seeing Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton for many years and find her to be kind, intelligent & thoughtful. She is one of the few Dr.'s I continue to see even though she does NOT take my insurance. I have a chronic skin condition and she has helped me manage it over the years. It is not curable. Yes, like some have mentioned in reviews, there is a wait (sometimes 30 mins) however its because she does not rush her visits if a patient needs more time. I find I am often waiting for my doctors and then they rush you; Dr. Ingleton is more attentive than that. Her office is busy, but I find that if you call mid-morning or later afternoon, you can reach someone or leave a message and get a call back. They close for lunch, so that's not a great time to call. If you have a skin emergency, they will also do their best to fit you in within 24-48hrs. It is helpful to be open with Dr. Ingleton and any doctor if you are uninsured, they will often look for coupons and rebates for medication that they prescribe or make other decisions so that your are not overwhelmed with the cost of prescriptions. read more

My overall experience here is the worst I've had to date. I went to Ingleton Dermatology for botox for my TMJ and forehead. The botox was accidentally injected into my smile muscle, causing one side of my smile to lose full movement. If a lopsided smile for months wasn't bad enough, I have called FIVE times about a refund for the consultation fee and each time they say they will call me back shortly and never do. I have been a long time patient of Dr. Ingleton and have always been happy with all the services I have received. Her staff is always friendly, professional and accommodating. There have been times I had been there and the waiting room was packed but I observe the staff and they are always calm, collected and manage the schedule as best they can. I am very surprised at the negative reviews I have read here. In New York city, doctor's offices are always busy (well the reputable ones). I would be more suspect if an office had very few patients. People who live New York always expect there to be a wait and often times longer than anticipated. Also, yes there are so many other doctors and professionals and we DO have many options. If someone is not happy with the over all services given to her/him, she/he can always find another one. BUT there are only a few good ones out there and that's why the real test to finding a good doctor is how many loyal patients that doctor has; patients that keep coming back time and time again, that's a really good sign!! In reading the other reviews, I am surprised that a few people complained about the staff. As I said early they are nothing but courteous and professional. If the schedule is tight and gets pushed back and people have to wait, it is for a legitimate reason. Everyone in New York is on a tight schedule we all know that BUT we have to put things in perspective; were any of the services you had to wait for an emergency?? I doubt it. Dr. Ingleton has treated my skin issues -- from adult acne to hyperpigmentation to melasma -- for numerous years and has always done so with utmost care and thoughtfulness. Like the other reviews say, the staff ruins the experience of going to this office. Waited 45 minutes to see the Dr. because they forgot to inform her that I was there. I had to remind the front desk that I was sitting in room after 20 minutes and still waited another 25 minutes. My time is as valuable as Dr. Ingleton. This appointment was booked back in October of 2020 and moved several meetings to make sure that I was on time because I valued her time and I expected mine to be as well. And I understand that  things tend to happen, however no one apologized for the time I sat there and waited. I even sent an email about the issue after my appointment but there wasn't even an apology sent. Secondly, the billing office. attempted to reach out me about the same visit, they had the incorrect address and may no other attempts to reach out me therefore I was unaware that I had an outstanding bill. I received 2 ALL CAPS email on a holiday weekend claiming that they were calling me (they weren't) I called the office and immediately paid my balance but I will never recommend this place to anyone. While I would have loved to support a black dermatologist, the lack of professionalism that is shown by her staff is so off putting. And it seems that her office doesn't respond to emails from clients explaining their poor service, so I therefore have to write this review on Yelp. read more

Went in for a follow up today after wandering around NoHo in the 90+ degree heat. Finally found the place and waited almost half an hour before I was seen. My "follow-up" consisted of Dr. Ingleton telling me that my skin looked good and that it was improving. That was it. It was hardly a follow-up at all. Her treatment did help me, and I'm glad that my skin looks good. This isn't the reason for the low rating, though. As I was leaving, the gentleman at the front desk asked if I was "paying out of pocket" since they don't accept my insurance. My initial response was...."paying for WHAT?" She didn't even do anything. She didn't give me any advice. She didn't make any changes to my regiment. My follow up lasted five minutes, if that, and all she did was say that my skin looked nice. The charge was $140. $140 to hear that my skin looked nice and was improving. Is this some sort of joke? Anyway, I just stood there, utterly dumbfounded, and begrudgingly handed over my card to avoid making a scene. BUT WHAT EXACTLY DID I PAY $140 FOR? A FIVE MINUTE CHAT IN WHICH THE DOCTOR SAID MY SKIN LOOKED NICE? Now, Dr. Ingleton is attentive and intelligent, as other reviewers have mentioned, but what happened today was an absolute scam. BEWARE! I went there for botox with R. Ingleton but what she used was a weak formula and it didn't work very well. I paid $800 just for the eyes. The office they took me to, was big as a large closet with no windows. I should have known something wasn't right because I arrived early and I saw about 8 patients, 8 of them registering for the first time... why?... because you don't go back to this place. On the top, they charged my insurance for a treatment I fully paid and that wasn't health related, what a fraud! Very courteous, great listener, and always looking for new alternatives to solve a problem. My skin has looked wonderful for years now, and it is all because of her. I was not too happy with this place. I had an appointment with Dr. Bandow at 9am (first appt of the day.) Some woman arrived in the waiting room at the same time- she had accidentally come in on the wrong day for her appointment and was told Dr. Bandow could try to fit her in. Who did Dr. Bandow call in first? That's right, I had to wait 20 minutes for her to handle priority number one, the patient who didn't even have an appointment. What the F?!!!?? Not a good start. Dr. Bandow was friendly and took time to listen to my concerns. However, she never communicated upfront the amount of follow up appointments, diagnostic costs, etc. that it would take to resolve my issue which would've definitely influenced my decision making. read more

Before meeting Dr. Ingleton, I had the worst acne imaginable. I was wary about the medications that she prescribed because I'm always nervous about any new topical cream/lotion/moisturizer that touches my skin due to my sensitive skin. Aside from clearing my acne, she gave me confidence and encouragement, reassuring me that I would get better. Dr. Ingleton is one of the few doctors that actually make you feel like an individual instead of as a number. This is not your typical doctor office where you walk in and immediately walk out, feeling like you were never heard. She will work with you to construct a tailored treatment plan with consideration of personal factors, lifestyle, and culture. She takes her time to walk me through each question that I ask (and I ask a lot of questions). I was referred to Dr. Cybele Fishman, who practices in this office, and I've been very happy with her care. I have what I thought was a pesky case of adult acne and I saw three different dermatologists in the city in an effort to treat the condition; all of them rushed me through the appointments and generally didn't seem to care about helping me. It turns out that I have acne rosacea (lots of little bumps, not true pimples, and generalized redness). Dr. Fishman thoroughly examined me, asked lots of questions about my history and prior treatment, asked me what kinds of treatments I would and wouldn't be willing to undertake, and then prescribed medication that has, literally, DONE WONDERS. Within about a week my skin started to clear and now, about five weeks later, my skin is TOTALLY clear. It's amazing. I have the best skin of my life and it's awesome. I went and saw her last week to have some small blood vessels treated with a laser. It was quick and relatively painless. She was super-thorough and was careful to try to zap all those little spots. She did a great job and I'm thrilled with the results. She is generous with samples and also wrote some notes for me recommending a variety of skin care products in a range of price points, which I thought was great. She even recommended an OTC product comparable to one that they sell in her office and she said that she prefers the OTC product - gotta love honesty like that. I've been a patient of Dr Ingleton for over 20 years. She is amazing, as a person and doctor. She really cares about finding what is best, not what is most costly, to treat whatever your issue may be. There is no over prescribing of techniques or cosmeceuticals. You get expert treatment and expert advice whether it be a skin cancer concern or a cosmetic one. She is doubly trained in internal medicine and dermatology which makes her more analytical in her diagnosis which is always a plus! As a physician myself, it is important to me that I have a thoughtful practitioner when planning my approach to a skin problem. What a great office. If you need a dermatologist, these guys are awesome. They were able to see me on only a few days notice and were super friendly upon arrival. As well, there was no wait time, once I filled out the paperwork - I was in to see the doc! The doctor I saw (Seth Wilentz) was as nice as can be. He also tried his best not to have me spend oodles of money - and instead just wanted to diagnose and cure the problem. I am a patient of Cybele Fishman at this office, and after suffering from acne since my early teens that never cleared up (I'm now 27), she got everything turned around in a matter of months. Any doctor could prescribe Accutane and get the same results, but Dr. Fishman and the staff make it a really friendly environment. The office is clean, spacious, and much more well-kept than most NYC doctors offices. Dr. Fishman always chats with me when I have appointments, and has given me samples & coupons generously. She gives honest advice about what products and procedures are "worth it" rather than just trying to get you to buy everything. 5 stars! read more

I was a long term patient of Dr. Ingleton's. While she in an excellent and caring physician her staff is not always professional which takes away from her. She was my Go too for skin care for close to 10 Years and helped to make great improvements for my skin. I've always paid in cash and do not have an issue spending whatever I needed to to make sure that my skin remained in tip top shape. But I do know that she doesn't accept many insurance types which could be a deterrent for many. The largest issue is the staff. The staff is constantly changing. The appointments never run on time, wait times can easily exceed 1 hour and the staff does. It feel the need to update you as you sit waiting for your turn. The more recent PAs lack bedside manner and always seem to have issues pulling up your records on their tablets. On my last and final visit, One even told me that I could not see Dr. Ingleton until I could remember the dates of my last visit and he exact percentages of the prescriptions that I took. After asking him to leave the room a few times the office manager finally stopped me from leaving. After a long apology from the most recent business/office manager, I was able to see Dr. Ingleton who told me she hadn't had complaints about this particular staffer so she was surprised and assured me that she would look into it. I left feeling like the culture of the practice had changed too much and that I would not be returning. The constant change in office managers and team members also proves that they are all very aware of the issues. First and foremost - Dr. Cybele Fishman is by far the absolute best!! I have been suffering with allergies that caused horrible skin rashes for the longest time. Most doctors gave me weak first line treatments and I would just have to go back when it got very, very bad and get a short course of steroids to clear it up (not a healthy way to treat a rash). But Dr. Fishman was fantastic in helping me treat my skin. First of all, she introduces herself as "Cybele", and there are no airs about her at all. She listened to me and along with prescribing medicine that actually worked on my bad rashes, she also recommended OTC vitamins to help my skin. She also gave me a ton of other information about my condition and wrote everything down for me. She asked me to make a follow up appointment to see how I'm doing, not like a lot of other doctors who don't bother and just expect you to come in if something doesn't work. Let me tell you, the vitamin regimen she prescribed me was a miracle for me!! My skin is super healthy and not nearly the flare ups aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. After seeing a write-up about Dr. Ingleton in Essence magazine and reading the reviews on this site, I was excited about seeing an effective dermatologist. When I made my appointment, it was set for 2 months out due to packed nature of her schedule. "No problem," I thought. "That's the price of seeing a good doctor." Three days before my appointment, I received a message saying that they needed to reschedule me. Okay--I wasn't very happy considering I had already waited two months to see her, but I called the office to reschedule. For some reason, they couldn't reschedule me at that time and said they needed to call me back. I'm still waiting for this call. It's been two months. If you're not accepting new patients, just say so. Leaving people hanging is rude and unprofessional. I guess I wasn't famous enough to warrant an appointment. read more

I waited about two months to see Dr. Ingleton which cost me $350 of my hard-earned money. I was told that the consultation was $250, not $350. Keep in mind, I did not receive a real explanation as to why I was charged and additional $100 except that Dr. INGLETON CALLED IN A PRESCRIPTION. the prescription she called in was over $600. If you are not a celebrity, I do not recommend this office at all. They also called me to reschedule because Dr. Ingleton had a family emergency the morning of even though I came all the way from New Jersey. I blame myself for this. I'm sure that there are plenty of good dermatologist in NJ even if they did not appear on Oprah, Dr. OZ, etc. I will never go back to that office again. Great Doctor and great staff, So, after waiting three months for a appointment with Dr. Ingleton, I will say it was totally worth the wait. I am African American and wanted to see someone who specialized in darker skin. My appointment was mid-afternoon, so I expected there would be a wait. My wait was only 15 minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised. One of the aides showed me to the Dr. Ingleton's office and got me prepped for the consultation (providing me a gentle face wash and changing robe). Dr. Ingleton appeared a few minutes later and reviewed my chart and my skin. She was very knowlegable and answered all my questions (and believe me I had a lot of questions). I brought in images of all the facial products I use on my skin and she reviewed each image. She told me which products to discontune using and which ones to keep using. She also prescribed some RX productions for my skin as well as a series of chemical peels. Of course I was hesitant to sign up for an expensive treatment like a chemical peel, but the Dr. Ingleton was able to explain exactly how it would help my problem (and would be easier on my darker skin than alternative treatments). She was able to tell me the estimated prices for each item she prescribed and gave me some samples. She spent a total of 20 minutes with me and never made me feel like she was rushing through the consultation or not paying attention to me. I have been following her prescribed process for a little over a month now and my skin has never looked better. I have event gotten a few compliments when I have gone out sans makeup. I scheduled a follow up appointment for the chemical peels and will update my review following, but am happy with the results to date. I have tried other dermatologists in the past with little to no improvement on my skin, but this has been a vast improvement in such a short time. The office is nice and the people there work well but it impossible to reach anyone there over the phone. I have tried calling them consistently for 2 days during working hours and there is no way to speak to a representative. Their automated message plays and no matter what option i select it says please allow for 48 hours for a response. Why is it so difficult to have someone there to talk to? I haven't been going to this dermatologist long enough to fully experience whether Dr. Ingleton's methods will work for me or not but in the past three or four months that I have been seeing her, I can say that there has not been one instance where I have made an appointment and she has kept to that schedule. For that reason alone is why I'm apprehensive about continuing to go. I appreciate that Doctors might have a heavy case load but keep people waiting for 45 minutes to an 1hr every single appointment when most likely they are sneaking out of work is frustrating.
