I loved my experience at MIA. I had brunch with some friends on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded at the time we went. The decor and atmosphere were really nice. It felt like I stepped out of Waterbury for a moment. Ella was our server and she was very attentive and friendly! The food was also amazing. I live in Waterbury so it's great to see this place is so nicely put together from the outside of the building to the interior. It's really pretty and warm, intimate, and inviting. The staff here are always pleasant and attentive. Depending on what you order on their menu, you won't be disappointed. I ordered a few items I wasn't too found of, and others were simple and to the point; nothing out of the ordinary. Their meatballs were shaped like small patties, so that way fun to see. I'd go back here if I was roaming and hadn't been in a while. Their drinks are just ok. I got one of their creative drinks that went from dark purple to lavender when you pour a shot of lemon juice in it. They handed this to me in a shot glass on the side to experience the this presentation. If I'm not mistaken, this cost around sixteen dollars. I'd go back but not for sometime from now . This place is stunning! Located in Waterbury you would never know that MIA is an elegant escape with Mediterranean flair. It's beautiful inside and now has a newly renovated top floor with electric fireplace and a DJ that comes out on Friday and Saturday nights. They also have Brunch on Sunday. The food is delicious and my favorite was the shrimp tortellini and the seafood pizza. The variety of options are diverse and there is something for everyone. This place is great for date nights or if you're looking for a nice evening with good food and drinks. read more

Stopped by this restaurant while in the area with a friend who was visiting. We went for dinner and sat inside because outdoor seating was full. The ambiance is really pretty both indoor and outdoor. We started with some raw oysters which were pretty good. For entrees we got the salmon, chicken and prosciutto burrata dish. They were all very tasty. i had hoped i would never have to put a review like this on yelp. Im so damned embarrassed for them & Ive gotta say i dont see how this place is ever going to make it if they keep on focusing on construction upgrades which they are constantly in the process of doing. looks not content. my dad who is my foodie buddy had loved this place since it opened. weve been regulars. i woildve taken him ANYWHERE in Ct to make him happy for this milestone birthday gone completely sideways. if i had asked them & told them i would pay them to take their heads out of their asses, it would not have happened. because they simply dont get it. i am hoping that this poor beautiful server who had the misfortune of me as a customer & no backup from ANYONE, most especially the bartender who was serving her ONE customer & talking about nails, will move on to a place shere she will learn something. seriously. this poor girl. my dad was one of the first customers here, & he's very loyal to businesses & responds to good service which we did have when they first opened. the ONE guy that was good at his job w a personality has not been seen in quite awhile, so ive gotta believe he's moved onto bigger & better things. our entrance up the front stairs shouldve been a glimpse 0f what was to come, & this is the clientele they are are appealing to with their HSN fake IVY covered fences. our entrance up the stairs and throughout the dining experience was met w a million cameltoes & fat laden tatooed muffintops hanging over belts & waistlines. sorry but i cant even stomache that over a backyard family barbeque. CLIENTELLE. they are not tippers. why would ANYONE want to work here? an entire table next to us jumped up like there was an AR 15 in tow because of a BUG ON THE WINDOW. we were ready to duck & roll. we waited and waited and waited on simple things. water. chips for the quac. the things that were listed on the menu that they didnt have. loke the things that bring people in: like the "homemade" pudding they didnt have. like the ham croquettes app they didnt have. we ordered the fire cheese app. the person who delivered it tried lighting it & it wouldnt light & they never came back to ignite it & the server who was waiting on us didnt know because teamwork & managerial leadership was nonexistant. no prescence of ANY manager or any one in charge. that bartender was a disaster. the two espresso martinis tasted like old coffee water w a shot of Baileys. awful. they shouldve paid us to be there. when a bartender has ONE customer & theyre talking sbout nails & their servers are depending on them for the entireity of the meal service these servers are screwed. i hope the servers wake up & go somewhere where theyll learn something like Brass City Cafe on Hamilton Ave to get a good meal & great service. so few places left in Waterbury. you wont see this clientelle @ Brass City or Diorios. theyd hide them away. no matter how much home improvement they do & ill admit great potential here. but i give it 8-10 months. not to mention the miserable experience they gave to one of their very first loyal customers who had a milestone 90th birthday. i cant tell you you how many times weve made resv's here explaining the event . & they act like its a damn surprise when we show up. awful. just awful. and hopeless. never again. felt bad for my daughter who was paying for it & my dad who just wanted to enjoy his 90th birthday at a place he once loved. read more

Decided on a whim to check this place out before their grand opening next week. My partner and I were initially impressed by the beautiful ambience of the restaurant and bar area. Almost immediately, I didn't get the most hospitable impression from the bar tender. She was mumbling and not very attentive towards us. My drink was good, but could've been stronger. While I feel like MIA Lounge has potential, it seems like the drink and food menu might be pricier than what people would typically expect in this area of the state. read more

The vibe here was definitely more upscale for the area which was a nice change. Lots of parking and decent prices. I ordered the seafood appetizer and shrimp tortellini both 8/10. Just disappointed that at such a nice place, there were shells on shrimp (in sauce) as well as in the appetizer in every bite. The indoor outdoor area was cute and great place to try, just be aware of flies during the warm weather while the doors are open- slightly ruined the dining experience having to swat them. read more

I visited M.I.A for the first time with friends for a couple of drinks. The place has a nice atmosphere and a good vibe. We were there for over an hour when it wasn't too busy, and we had no issues. However, as the place started filling up, a staff member walking around with an iPad informed us that hats weren't allowed in the establishment. While I understand that businesses have their own rules, it felt inconsistent that wearing a hat was fine when the place was slow, but once it got busy, we were suddenly asked to leave because of it. If there's a dress code, it should be communicated clearly at the door to avoid confusion and inconvenience. Overall, it's a nice spot, but the inconsistent enforcement of rules left a bit of a negative impression. read more

My wife and I want on Saturday for beautiful date. we got there about 4pm. It seems they might just open not sure. The host allow to choose were to seat, so we decided the patio. which was ok until the workers started moving so tables together for group of people that causes my wife and I felt uncomfortable and rude because if they knew they was getting a group why allow us seat at the patio?!. we ordered an item which the waiter went to order it he came back to inform us they didn't have it. My sister and I dined here today for Mother's day brunch. May I say I was completely disappointed. The venue is beautiful, what we ordered was ok, small portion but ok. THE SERVICE was not OK. The servers were nice, but not very attentive. We sat for 20 minutes with no wait staff ,no water, no drinks. We ordered received our meal and that was it, if we didn't flag someone down, we got nothing. We weren't even asked if we wanted another drink. Brought the bill be for being asked if we needed or wanted anything else. We felt completely invisible. Another party walked out for the same reason, bo service. The waiter came over and greeted us and asked us what we would like for drinks. I ordered a Heineken, he says coming right up, then returns and says we don't have heineken. So I ordered an old fashion, sorry to say, very water down. My wife ordered a cranberry juice, also very water down. OK, on to appetizers or starters. My wife ordered the octopus for starters, and for our main dish, she ordered the linguine, and was asked would you like steak or chicken with that as if it comes with the meal, so my wife chose the steak, she chose to steak, however, when we got the bill, the waiter neglected to tell my wife that the steak or the chicken was $10 extra and did not come with the meal, the way he asked was would you like steak or chicken with that as if it does come with the meal. It would not have change the fact that she would've ordered the steak, but it would've been nice to know it was extra. I ordered the salmon. Finally, the waiter comes out every all our food at once, I said to him shouldn't the starters have come first, and then, when you saw we were done eating that you would've brought our main course, he says, I assumed you wanted it all at once, I said to him, but the word starters means starters/appetizers, this is what you bring before the main course. That's why it's labeled starters. He apologizes. Wait, staff is definitely not properly trained, especially for the prices that are charging at this establishment the staff should be highly trained and be paying attention to the customers if they need anything. I'm sorry, but I don't know how you can confuse starters from the main course. The Food, Ok, sorry to say, the food was very bland, did not have much taste at all. As far as the ambience, the place is very beautiful inside, and has a lot of potential, but only if you get the right staff and management in there. The waiter told us that the manager will be by to talk to us and to see how we like things, we were there for almost an hour, Not once the manager come up and talk to us and ask us, how was our meal drinks were etc. If this establishment plans on surviving, they need to get an experienced trainer in there ASAP to train the staff and Chief on how to wait on the customers and to season the food, and how to present the meals, when appetizers / starters are to be served, and when the main course is to be served. The prices they're charging here are very very high for the city of Waterbury, if they plan on surviving need to get their act together right away. So far I have seen 4 upscale restaurants in the past 10 years open in Waterbury and not one of them lasted more than 2 1/2 years because of the pricing, and keep in mind they had their act together. The food was fantastic, and the service was great. Unfortunately, this place is very inexperienced, but charging top dollar. I feel they're blowing away a Lotta good customers that probably won't come back due to the many mistakes that I am mentioning, Because of the lack of experience and training in the wait staff and the cook in the kitchen. Will I go back, debatable, let's see if they're still here next year this time. read more

Awww I feel bad but honesty is the best policy and this should be 2.5 stars and not near 3 so I had to choose 2 ... Now not sure why but the girl bar tending Christmas night maybe was New at bartending ?? Because she said they didn't have Crown Royal and to be sure because she acted as if she didn't speak good English, so I showed her a picture. She again said No. So my bf got a beer . Then I asked for a martini and she said they didn't have it yet I saw it on IG story . So I asked for a basic dirty martini, she told me the guy bartender would make it . And walked away ... he was busy making drinks for all the tables so I waited and waited But it's ok it happens Then he came over took my order and my bf decided to ask him about crown royal , would you know they had it lol So at least he was able to make him a manhattan But the pour was awful small . My goodness ... Ugh but again every place is different with their pours . My Martiini was a nice pour though . So then the girl bartender came over and we told her about the Crown she acted surprised then made him his 2nd manhattan with a better pour lol That was nice and she even made me a black berry margarita. But now the food order she messes up with 2 burgers and I wanted the lamb chops and my bf wanted the burger . We didn't want to be annoying so I agreed to eat the burger which was good big and great fries . The other things we ordered were Delicious, chic Mia which was like a chic cordon blue to me and the octopus . Smaller portion of the octopus but perfectly done . I was so looking forward to the lamb but maybe we'll return . It's great to see a place like this in Waterbury .
