BUYER BEWARE: DISHONEST PRACTICES AND A PROMISE NOT HONORED…read more I rarely write negative reviews, but when someone gives me their word, I expect them to stand behind it. I brought my Escalade to Prestige because it would not properly take fuel at the gas pump. From the beginning, I clearly explained that the purge valve and EVAP canister had already been replaced. Prestige called me and said their mechanic determined that the EVAP canister was bad and needed to be replaced. I specifically questioned this because it had JUST been replaced and the vehicle had barely been driven since. I was assured that their mechanic was confident the EVAP canister was the problem and, more importantly, I was told that if replacing it did not fix the issue, "it would be taken care of and be on the mechanic." Based on that assurance, I authorized the repair. I had already spent approximately $400 replacing this exact part, and Prestige charged me another $1,100 to replace it again. I left their shop and went directly to a gas station. Same exact problem. The vehicle still would not take fuel. I brought it back on Monday expecting Prestige to honor what I had been told. Instead, I was now told they need to drop the fuel tank and inspect it for an obstruction, at an additional cost of approximately $1,200. So what happened to the promise? The EVAP canister they insisted was the problem clearly did not fix the vehicle. Yet instead of standing behind their diagnosis and the assurance they gave me before I authorized the work, I'm now expected to absorb the cost of replacing a part that had already been replaced AND pay another $1,200 to continue diagnosing the original problem. Had they told me from the beginning, "We think it's the EVAP canister, but if we're wrong, you're still responsible for the $1,100," I could have made an informed decision. That is not what I was told. The money isn't the issue for me. Integrity is. In business, your word should mean something. If you tell a customer, "If we're wrong, we'll take care of it," and that promise is what convinces them to authorize an $1,100 repair, then you should honor it when you're wrong. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Prestige. Buyer beware. Get every promise in writing before authorizing repairs here.
