I want to warn others about my experience with the owner (Mel) of this body shop. I went in for a quote to install a front lip and rear bumper. The price seemed high, but since I was still price shopping and didn't know what was reasonable, I thanked him and told him exactly that before leaving to check other places. Less than an hour later, I came back because I hadn't found another option and decided I was over the hassle of shopping around. When I returned, he raised the price (Proceeds to lie). That immediately felt wrong to me. When I questioned it, his tone gave me the impression that he was upset I had not accepted his original offer earlier, and that he increased the price because he assumed I did not find a better deal elsewhere. I was very bothered by that and decided not to give him my business. About a month later, I still had not gotten the work done, so I decided to try again and went back to the shop. This time, his attitude was even worse. He literally looked at me and said something along the lines of, "Oh, I thought you were going to take it somewhere cheaper," in a sarcastic tone. Of course, he has the right as a business owner to refuse service, but I think people should know the kind of experience I had here. What bothered me most was the lack of professionalism and the way the pricing was handled. I do not think it is good business practice to give someone a price and then change it shortly after for no legitimate reason. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this shop. Great shop with great people! So we were introduced under strange conditions: the tow truck guy recommended the shop, so I had him drop it off there. I told Miguel I really wasn't in a hurry since this is my hunting truck and season didn't begin for a while. It took them a bit of time to troubleshoot an intermittent electrical issue that was shorting and blowing out fuses, but they found it! Anyone that knows about electrical troubleshooting will tell you this is no joke! They even identified a few other issues that would have left me stranded in the woods, so I am quite grateful! My daughter's car overheated while on the way to visit friends in Coral Gables. The AAA tow truck driver recommended Mel's, and not familiar with the area we went ahead to have it towed there. Miguel was quick to troubleshoot the problem with a coolant hose clamp, then obtained the replacement part from the GM dealer and refilled everything. He also noticed it was time for her oil change, he wanted to make sure she had no issues getting back home. They treated my daughter like family and had her safely back on the road in no time. I'm always greeted with a smile and staff are quick to assist upon arrival. I recently had to get a few things done to my car which included removing rust from the roof of my car and repainting it. They did a fantastic job! You'd never know my car had a huge rust spot! A couple months ago my car stalled and wouldn't start, they were able to educate me on what was wrong with my vehicle and give me a reasonable price for the repairs and had it ready sooner than expected (which is always a pleasant surprise) I recently moved a bit further away from their location but you know, when you find a good mechanic, distance doesn't beat great value and customer service. I left my Chrysler here 07/2022 due to it dying on me and I wasn't sure the reason. Tow truck driver recommended bringing it here so I did with full trust. Left it and Mel seemed great and amicable. Was told that the engine had completely died and requires a replacement, the price was talked about and we agreed to around $3000 to $3500. Cool. Kept calling back and was told he's working on it, trusted him fully. Time passes and couldn't get to him due to the receptionist not getting back to me after saying " I'll tell him to give you a call back" . Time passes again and I completely forget about the car. I head in today (02/2023) and the car is exactly as they left it, untouched. 7 months have passed. Mel proceeds to gaslight me into saying I never authorized them to start when I in fact did before leaving my car in their hands; why would it even be there in the first place for so long?? Was never contacted about an update, was never said sorry to just "let's not cry over spilled milk". If you want to be lied to there is no other place that does it best than this one. read more

I would advise anyone 150% against using this shop and seeking to get an honest, fair and just deal from this operation. Got estimate for work at one price, when they saw that it was a claim on insurance and estimate I got jumped up in price 85% higher than original price. Basically, the estimate miraculously jumped to the exact number to the penny that the insurance was paying. Never mind they had inspected the car and gave me an estimate. Discussing with them this issue was futile as they said we "collect what the insurance pays", period. Since they have car and keys nothing you can do. A complete sham of an operation when it comes to honesty. read more

Update : I had originally taken my car here for a repair and they did a job well done. Afterwards, there was a situation where I had to take my car out of their shop and into another and the owner did not take to kind to that even though we had already built a relationship, so I believed. The next time I took my car for a fix they took longer than usual to repair my vehicle, which is saying something considering every other time they took 1 1/2 months+ to repair the damage. They took off the dash cam in my vehicle so I could only assume they drove the vehicle to personal destinations, that and the mileage. Last but not least, a few valuables were missing from my vehicle after I finally got called to pick my car up. Would not recommend. read more

Took my car to this place to get it aligned and they gave me the car back with the steering wheel facing left and the car pulling right. The owner told me to bring it back another day to get it fixed cause apparently the tech they had didn't know how to do his job correctly. Went back 3 more times and could never get the car aligned. Ultimately, stay away from this junk of a shop cause the owner is a scammer & all his employees are lost. read more

Went there today to get a diagnostic done on my car, everything was fine and I said I'd wait in the office until they finished the work on my car as I had no other means of getting home and had nothing else to do for the day, ALMOST 4 HOURS LATER Miguel very unprofessionally walks into the office and says to get out that he doesn't like people waiting in his office... then after I asked him why he was kicking me out if we had both agreed I could stay waiting 4 hours earlier he proceeded to use profane language towards me. I do not recommend this place at all as they are very rude and disrespectful! read more

Came here to get an alignment recommended from All Import. First guy was pretty helpful, he told me the price and I asked if I should change my tires before the alignment since I was getting them changed today. He asked me where I was getting the tires from. BJ's I said and he guided me to the office to see if they could beat BJ's price. A nice lady helped me but was having trouble finding the tire I said I wanted. Called a guy who looks like the owner, sat on the desk on the back and all and asked me what I needed. I told him they just want to quote me tires and told him the brand/model. He said the "boxed stores" had their brand they try to sell me (which I took as he didn't have the tires I asked for and so HE was trying to push me another direction.) I said no, I was the one asking Bjs for those tires, those are the ones I need. He asked me to give Bjs price, I said well, what's your price? "I just want to see if I can even be competitive" he responded. I thought "Ok, fair enough." And up until here it was fine even with the hassle of having to explain everything more than once, them trying to sell me tires even with me knowing they couldn't beat the price as I already had done the research but giving them a chance to at least be in the ball park and maybe would've giving them the chance even if they were a little bit higher since I wanted to get the car aligned as well. But then he just jumped in before I could say the price "you know what, it's fine, if you can't give me the price I won't give you mine" and asked me to leave. The nice lady was surprised by that too as she looked back at him. I told him I was about to tell him and just opened the door and left. I give one star for each of the nice people that helped me first. I'll take the other three with me somewhere else where I can give someone who wants to stay in business. read more

From the mechanics, to the lady at the office, to the owner....everyone has exceeded my expectations. They treat you like family and are not there to make an extra penny out of you. I remember going there thinking I had to fix the Alternator and the owner (Mel) kindly checked both- the battery and alternator for me. He advised me it was simply the battery that had to be replaced (which is less expensive than what an Alternator costs). On another occasion, my car did not want to start, so I had to call a tow-truck. Mel was kind enough to wait for the tow-truck to give me the opportunity to take my car to him after work. My car was then fixed as I had to replace my Starter. Ever since then, my car has been getting me to work every day thanks to Mels Reset. On another occasion, I advised them my brakes were making a grinding noise and they said I was able to take my car after work so they could check it out. Their team was able to fix it and on top of that the owner tested it out to make sure my car was fixed properly....I also realized the owner was woking during his Birthday that day because they took a minute to sing him Happy Birthday. I figured what owner works on his Birthday, if it was me, I would have had the day off. But I honestly believe the owner and his team here love what they do and really do care about their customers and help as much as they can. This for me is a top mechanic place in Miami. So if you ever need a truly honest, reliable and hard working mechanic that cares about his Customers, then Mel's Reset is the place to go.
