The interior was soft and creamy as it should be! Could've used more prosciutto but I always want more lol For entree I got the Filet Mignon with a peppercorn sauce on the side. That came with a side of mashed potatoes and broccolini. (You do have the option to change your side for pasta if you like) I got my filet cooked to a mid-rare and the temp on the steak was on point. It was also well seasoned and very flavorful on it's own. Now the real star of the night was that peppercorn sauce. OMG... I could bathe in that sauce. It's delicious. Knowing how good it is, next time I'll ask for the filet smothered in the sauce. The mashed potatoes were okay, but the peppercorn sauce made it that much better. For dessert I went with the classic Tiramisu. It is a huge portion! The mascarpone is so soft and fluffy and has just the right amount of coffee. Highly recommend for tiramisu lovers. Honestly, it rivaled steaks I've had at restaurants that specialize in nothing but steak. One tip: if you're coming for lunch, arrive a little early. This cozy spot fills up quickly, and once you've eaten here you'll understand why. Basilico isn't flashy. More like cozy and intimate, excellent for good conversation. It's simply one of those rare neighborhood restaurants that gets the important things right--great food, wonderful people, and consistency year after year. I'm have been a regular lunch customer for over a year. Apparently they have new owners and fired their pizza maker. And the new owner is making the pizza. They have a lunch special 2 slices and a drink for 5.00 Well I stopped there today 8/20/21 and got my usual. However the slices were much smaller by 25% at least and the crust was so thin I couldn't pick up the slices to eat them. I will give them one more chance If it doesn't improve I will find a new lunch spot. I was shocked that they fired the pizza maker ... it's the closest pizza I found to NYC style pizza. Here are a few favorite must haves: baked ziti, tortellini allá giacomo, crab and lobster ravioli, the famous domenico sub and of course the meatballs!! It was a generous portion but it would have been great to get more of the contrasted breaded texture. Mussels seemed older than necessary and had a strong aroma. Asiago Gnocchi was a huge predominantly white plate filled with probably 24-30 dumplings. Drink menu had a lot of creative cocktails. Prices were very reasonable and the place gets busy with groups and families. Service was great and quick and the old timers made you feel at home.
