Great night at Basilico! The waiter staff were awesome, very attentive and funny the whole night. The pastas were delicious and spot on. No complaints there at all. My steak came out bland though, and I had to ask for salt. They brought me some sea salt in a small bowl and it made a huge difference once I sprinkled it on. For a $45+ steak, it shouldn't need that. The salad that came with it was just arugula and tomatoes, no dressing, which was a bit disappointing. The presentation was also a miss. Loved their old fashioned. Would order it again. The kids loved the calamari, though I thought it was a little too chewy. Overall a good spot, just wish the steak came out seasoned properly. I had a very pleasant dining experience. The restaurant has two distinct indoor dining areas, and both are very well organized and maintained. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs the entire time we were there. The food was perfectly prepared, very flavorful, and the portions are just right (not small, not overly abundant). The restaurant does get crowded, so I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. They don't have a full bar, but they have a great selection of wines. The only things that prevent me from awarding 5 stars is the lack of full bar, the prices are a bit on the high side, and the parking can be challenging; spaces are often limited and tight. read more

Stellar food with a side of mediocre service..... My wonderful friends know I love Italian food, and in anticipation of my birthday, they made a reservation to dine at Basilico - Doral. I had hear raving reviews of their food and I really looked forward to experiencing this first-hand. Our reservation was for Saturday at 8pm. We arrived a bit before 8pm and allowed for the standard 15-minute grace period to elapse prior to following up on our table. The grace period elapsed, and my friend courteously asked the "server" as to the status of our table. The server unpleasantly replied: "The table has not gotten up, what do you want me to do, that is not my problem" After such poor response, she requested to speak with the manager, and to our surprise, HE WAS THE MANAGER! We were in awe as to the manner in which he poorly handled this situation. After this, we debated as to if we should stay or leave, and we decided to stay as I'm willing to put up with horrible service to have amazing food. I'm glad to say the food did not disappoint! we started with Grilled Octopus (which was perfectly cooked) and Burrata (which was fresh and tasty!). My main dish was a medium-well new York Strip with a side of Risotto. The 16 oz. steak was cooked to perfection and very tasty, and the risotto did not disappoint. For our closing, we ordered the Apple Struddle and Tiramisu, which were also outstanding. VERIDICT: If you are looking for amazing food and willing to potentially experience less than desirable services, this is it! read more

Another fantastic lunch at an incredible restaurant. We celebrated Father's Day after church and traveled to Doral and it was well worth it. I was afraid that we might not find a table since we had no reservations but we were seated and the service was impeccable. Our appetizer was roasted octopus and followed by a delicious Iberico pork loin and a fantastic grouper dish. Again a very family friendly location and great service. The food was subpar. The service was invisible, but not in a good way. The ambiance was pleasant. We will never return. We started with a lobster bisque that lacked flavor and texture. Our waiter forgot one of the bowls, so my wife had to wait while he corrected his mistake. The second bowl had no garnish. Even Publix puts a few small chunks of lobster in its bisque, but this had none. There was no lobster flavor whatsoever. Neither my wife nor I could eat more than a few bites. The inattentive waitstaff took our bowls away without inquiry. Since this was a late lunch, my wife and I were to share a veal scallopini. Luckily the bisque killed our appetite since our $26 order had only one very small piece of veal. It was chewy with a strange taste. It came with an overcooked vermicelli drowned in a rather greasy reduction with soggy capers. We were likely the only ones to notice since a fútbol (soccer) game was entertaining the waitstaff from behind the bar. We never really knew who our waiter was, which helped make our experience even more forgettable. For the same price, Carrabba's has the same dish with over twice the food, with better flavor, including a soup, and much better service. We wanted to like this place, as everyone enjoys a quaint neighborhood Italian restaurant. This one has been around a long time. We cannot understand why. It missed the mark on almost every aspect. If you're in the area and craving Italian food, this place is a must. The food is delicious and I really enjoyed the saxophone player while we were having dinner. We had two espresso martini which were delicious, and Bronzino was to die for cooked perfectly, as well as the short rib, which are their best sellers. Had dinner with friends on Saturday 6/22/24. The service was almost non existent to the point of rudeness. The restaurant felt like a nicer version of a cafeteria. It was very loud, the floor was not clean and the majority of the diners were dressed in shorts and flip flops, workout clothes, and looked like they just came from a little league game. A little too casual for a nice restaurant. Their only saving grace was the food. Everything we ordered was very nice. The appetizers, main dishes and dessert, were all very good, unfortunately, we will not be returning. I suggest take out if you live close by. You'll enjoy great food without the attitude. read more

Server didn't provide recommendations when asked "everything's good" and didn't go over the specials. Banana pudding for dessert was awful, only had 2 bites each, just super firm and didn't taste great. Wine and Beer only as well. Overall: Had high hopes for a Mom and Pop hold in the wall Italian joint but didn't fulfill expectations at all. This restaurant is better each time that we return ! The service (Carlos) is impeccable and the food is very delicious. Bread is good. Had the scaloppine Picatta and the sauce is to die for. The veal comes with pasta but I asked for mashed potatoes which were delicious and homemade. Hubby ate the Ravioli d'Pera (he always eats this) and said it was tops. Pleasant unhurried evening with friends. Only suggestion is not to eat for dessert the bread pudding because it is not traditional and very light in taste. read more

Its nice to see a restaurant that has a stable staff for so many years, the food never fails man I mean any pasta dish will never let you down. I love getting the steak here with fettuccini alfredo. What a great find! We stopped there while in Doral for lunch, as we were going on our traditional December trip to Mercato Italiano to load up on Italian salumi and other Italian imported food. The strip where Basilico is located is a small one and easy to miss. It's located on NW 41st St, east of 107thAve and west of 102nd Ave. For some reasons I thought I was going to some type of Italo-American small place, you know, the typical "pizza and pasta" joint. Well, big surprise instead: we ended up in a white tablecloth upscale-feel restaurant, really a place that feels like an Italian trattoria. The ambience is relaxing, clean and like I said, really "Trattoria-style": you don't go there to grab a drink at the bar, you go to eat. The décor is neat, from the modern spot light on the ceiling to the wood frames all over the place to mix modern and nice comfort style. The other surprise factor was that the prices are very reasonable for Miami and for people like us coming from West Palm Beach, the value price/quality was totally great. I had the paccheri all'amatriciana, very good and rich with the thick amatriciana sauce. My wife had the Ravioli with gorgonzola, fico e pera (fig and pear) and they were really a nice delicacy. Both dishes were $ 18.95 each, we were in some sort of paradise coming from an area where some spaghetti with 4 small shrimps on top can set you back easily $ 26-28. We split an Italian salad and were super satisfied; service was great and we felt at home. I had a glass of Chianti D'Albola, my wife a glass of Merlot from Friuli (a rare find in Miami); she won this one. Her merlot was much better than the Chianti, so much that I had that as my second glass. This is going to become out place to go in Doral for our future trips to that area. Last thoughts: no liquor license, that means no "Amari", or other Italian digestive liquors. Big deal? Nope. Also, if you are far from Doral you can visit them in Miami Springs (I believe NW 36th St and 59th ave). Molto buono! read more

We have been driving by this place for years, and finally decided to try it out last week for lunch. The restaurant is located in a very unpretentious but extremely crowded strip mall. Once you get inside, however, you find yourself in a chic (yet not snobbish) place with down tempo music in the background. Their bar is small, but they have two spacious dining rooms, all nicely decorated with Venetian masks and painting. I also liked the fact that the tables are not so close to each other. Their lunch menu has very good prices, but to tell the truth their regular prices are extremely convenient as well; not to talk about their wide choice of wines, where you can get several of them at just $8.00 (without being in HH)! We ordered homemade Ravioli al gorgonzola e pera con salsa di fico ($16 on lunch special, just $19 on the regular menu) and Paccheri all'amatriciana (for the regular price of $19). The entrees come with choice of soup and salad, which wasn't the regular "garden salad" that usually restaurants offer, but a fresh arugula salad with diced tomatoes and some strips of fennel! Then as usual, in every Italian restaurant I "have to" try the tiramisu. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service very attentive: it is now on our 'list of the best restaurants in Miami', and I'm looking forward to going back soon again to try their other dishes. read more
