I came here for dessert after dinner on a Wednesday night with a friend. I haven't been here in years but I had dinner in the area. This is one of the few dessert places in the area that's open late (10pm on weekdays). They're really known for their cakes and pies. I prefer their cakes over their pies though. I think Martha's Country Bakery has better pies. Anyways, my friend and I shared a slice of the 7 layer cake. You can get either vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling or chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. I decided on chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling since I wanted something extra rich. The cake was moist and the chocolate mousse was creamy. It's pretty heavy for but it's fine since I shared the cake (and the calories haha). There's a lot of seating in the back and outside in the garden. Service was fast and friendly. I've been dying to try this bakery for a while now and have been recommended it a million times by my friend who lives nearby. It's my dads birthday so it was the perfect opportunity after a stressful dinner. If you know me, you know I'm a big rainbow cookie gal. From the outside, it reminded me of a chain bakery in our area but we really wanted dessert and so we went. Picked individual slices that we haven't noticed at the other place. Pecan cheesecake made me think of very sweet pecan pies but it wasn't too sweet. Nice amount of pecans too. Blackout cake was chocolatey with mousse and cake. Can't believe I've never left a recipe for mia's before! Mia's is my go-to for desserts always! I've been coming here for over 2 years. They did my wedding desserts and I've order custom birthday cakes from them as well. Staff are always a pleasure to work with. The shop itself is a great place to catch up with a friend, get some work done, or maybe even read. Very cute cafe seating but gets busy on the weekends understandably. One of the best cheesecakes in NYC! I think about the banana cheesecake quite often. It's not too heavy like juniors and not as light as Eileen's cheesecake (my favorite of all time). They do a deal where you get 5 slices for $35 and I got to try a good variety with my family. The chocolate cake is pretty decadent and hits the spot. They have cupcakes, pies, cannolis, any pastry you could be craving. Will definitely be frequenting to try everything! read more

There are multiple cake sizes to select from and it's very reasonably priced. The cake itself was really tasty, I think it might've had cream cheese frosting inside if I'm not mistaken, the only thing that it was more of a really rich chocolate cake and didn't have that strong of a Nutella flavor. I have bought things from this bakery several times and they arranged from very good to alright. The most recent time I was here, I was with several others and we shared the burnt almond cake, the blackout cake, and the peach franzipan. The former was easily the best thing I've had here by a mile. Not overly sweet with a wonderful taste from the almonds and a nice texture to boot with a good crunch. The franzipan (or more routinely called frangipane) was also very tasty. Nice amount of peaches and there was an interesting twist with the raspberry adding an extra flavor to the usual almond cream. The blackout cake was a bit one dimensional. It was a bit overly rich and the cake was slightly dry and I would not recommend that one. To drink I had a Greek frappe which was tasty but overpriced. The other person enjoyed their cappuccino. The service was also friendly. I have otherwise had their hazelnut marquise which happens to be vegan and a lemon meringue tart. The former had a nice flavor though I would have preferred more texture (perhaps add more caramelized hazelnuts or something for crunch.) The lemon meringue was perfectly fine also with a nice amount of meringue. This bakery reminds me a lot of Martha's County in some of the selections (the various cake, some Greek stuff, and some other things along with the rather high prices) but they have a good selection of more unique pastries. The prices are too high for me to give them five but the burnt almond cake alone and the overall quality of the goods gives them a 4. read more

I scoped this bakery out on Yelp and was bouncin-at-the-knees excited. Nothing could prepare me for actually being in the presence of all of these baked goods, though. TRULY as soon as you walk in, you're immediately drawn to their insane variety. Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, tarts, CANNOLIS (I'm so weak for cannolis and no one in the reviews prepared me for the CANNOLIS!! That they fill fresh for you!! Regular and chocolate shells!!). It hurt me to pick, but I ended up getting a slice of blueberry cheesecake, creme brulee and tres leches cupcakes, chocolate chip cookie, rainbow cookie, and cannoli. The creme brulee cupcake and chocolate chip cookie came recommended by the person helping me and both were great! But the standouts for my family were the cheesecake, rainbow cookies, cannoli, and tres leches cupcake. So essentially everything was good. Everything. Great. No complaints. I want to go back ASAP and next time I'd love to sit down in that little area they have in the back with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. That is when I'll know I made it. While I did order a tiramisu cake, I ended up getting a strawberry shortcake one instead. While there was a flaw in the order, I really liked the tiramisu cake. The only issue I've ever had was when they run out of items, but usually they call and offer a substitution or refund. During and post pandemic I tried many of their pastries and cakes. The fresh fruit tarts are delicious but they aren't always available. The Nutella chocolate cake isn't bad, but I've had better. The Rainbow cake is fun and tasty. I've found it difficult to find bakeries that consistently carry Rainbow cake; Mia's has it on their menu as a "staple" item lately. The Burndt Almond Cake is unique - have not found an identical one anywhere else - goes perfectly with a cup of coffee or expresso. read more

I have visited Mia's several times but never got to try their house made coffee. I was curious about it after seeing a social media post. I got on line and asked a staff member if I was on the correct line to order a coffee cup. I was barely done with my sentence when the barista abruptly turned around and snapped at me. He stated there was a long wait and then proceeded to show me how many tickets he had. There was another staff member next to him that raised her eyebrows at his response. I told him his attitude was completely unnecessary but he had already turned his back towards me. I never cared if I had to wait because they have a good amount of seating but his response was basically "don't order". The inside of the bakery is big with lots of seating and tons of baked good options. 4/5 Milk choco honey panna cotta cake Great texture. I did realize i dont personally love the taste of specific honeys but love panna cotta and am always drawn to honey since its a natural sweetener. Deducted one point for personal preference of the really strong honey taste- which to be clear would normally be a great thing. I just didnt love this. 5/5 Strawberry banana cupcake Strawberry and banana flavors were strong. Good cupcake. I havent seen this flavor in other places, was excited to try this when i saw it and it didn't disappoint! 3/5 Matcha latte I've had better elsewhere. While the indoor seating is not too inspiring they have a really nice looking outdoor seating area in the back. It was too cold for us but looks like a nice option if the weather permits. We had the German chocolate cake and peanut butter cake. Bother we're excellent. They both appeared to be made with the same base chocolate cake, very moist and rich. The German cake added onto that with more great chocolate, while the peanut butter bake added some mild peanut butter mousse. Overall excellent. I also had a white chocolate caramel shake. It was as sweet as the name suggests, but I'm good with that and really enjoyed it. Service was a bit slow. Took a while to track someone down to get our check, but we weren't in a rush. Kinda like an Italian version of Paul bakery without the real food. Items taste fresh and delicious, but be ready to fork up a pretty penny. The staff is friendly and gave me a free glass of water even though I never asked for it. It was super nice of them. My friends & I have gotten cakes from Mia's for birthdays, and they're always a hit! Although it's a bit of a trek from where I am, for special occasions like those, Mia's a good bet for well-balanced, not too aggressively sweet cakes! I'm super picky about frosting, and Mia's is good! It's not overly thick or greasy like some other spots. I've had the Brooklyn Blackout and the Oreo cake and they were both so yummy! The cake itself was moist yet still fluffy, and I love chocolate pudding and Oreos, so those both made me happy. The prices are also pretty fair in terms of the quality you get. Came here on a Sunday afternoon after our brunch and this place was absolutely wonderful. A great gem to the neighborhood that offers a plethora of delicious pastries and beverages. The host sat us down immediately but what I like most is that she asked for my vaccine card. Huge kudos. As for the decor, this restaurant is very cozy and I absolutely loved their private patio in the back. It's all glass in the back so you can feel nature flowing. As for our waitress, she was very friendly and took care of us right away. I ordered their berry filled nepoleon and it was soooooo good. The plump berries, cream and crunch of the puff pastry confirmed that my dessert was fresh. Usually if a pastry is not fresh the berries would bleed onto the cream ans the puff pastry would be stale. More so with my dessert, I love that it was not too sweet but very cream which paired with with my coffee (unlimited cups btw). Overall, I enjoyed myself and did not feel rushed. This place is definitely my new go to spot. I would recommend going here to dine in. They are opened late and it's a good alternative if you don't feel like hitting the bar but still want to enjoy a little something-something. read more

My son is vegan so it's one of the few places to select from several tasty vegan cupcakes/desserts. My daughter & I are wild about those lobster tails (the pastry treat.) I'm not a fan of sitting down in there. I prefer to grab & go. They're busy because everything is so tasty but ambiance is kinda meh. Kinda like they put tables & chairs in there as an afterthought so pretty take-outish-coffeehouse vibe. I think they have a veranda in the back. Never made it that far.
