We lived on Lavalette for over 25 years, left 4 years ago but always returned to Mias. We personally loved their New England Mussels in their spicy hot sauce. As did my daughter from North Jersey . We often came for take out on pizza days but always added the mussels. We ate there at least once a year with the grandkids and daughter. Food was always great , never a regret. This past weekend, the five of us left extremely disappointed. While the dishes may have been good they were all ruined with the sauce of each dish. It began with the breadsticks and dipping sauce. Continued with the calamari , chicken parm and at the worst, the mussels. Not only were the mussels not steaming hot as is the custom but the sauce had the look of a canned tomato paste, no spice or zest whatsoever. A far cry from the sauce we actually took home for our pasta dishes. The service was basic perhaps because they were understaffed. This was an weekend so that was curious. None of the familiar faces that we remember. We visit every Mias in the general area. This one we will regretfully avoid. We recognize all to well that seashore restaurants and pizzerias thrive due to the hordes of vacationers no matter the quality of their menus. However, this Mia always maintained a consistent high level year round that has been lost since roughly a year ago when we last visited. read more

called for a take out order and was told hour and a half. When we went to pick there was a very long line . People ahead of us were coming out emty handed. They were upset because they were told another hour or more for there order. When we finaley got to the counter we were told the same thing. they kept takeing orders ordes over the the phone that they had no way of makeing. Placed an order on line on a Friday at 6:10pm said 75 minute which I was fine with. 90 minutes later I called and was told the pizzas were just going in the oven. It would be another 45 minutes - changed to pick it up still another 30 minutes. Went to pick it up and still not ready and they tried to give me the other food pasta and cheese fries in my order that was ice cold. They remade and forgot the shrimp I was charged for in the pasta. Customer service horrible - had to ask for my delivery fee and tip back. All their deliveries were sitting on a counter waiting for deliveries not under a heat lamp to keep warm. I would not order a Friday ever again! The shame is pizza is great but the process and the lack of awareness to be able know when to stop taking orders will make me think twice about ordering. They could have saved my business for the future if they had made some kind of good faith refund for their issue. read more

I had the calzone which was tasty. We got food to go so nobody served us per se. I ordered soup-I usually love pasta fagiola but this one was not familiar to me. I don't even know what it was. But it was not normal pasta fagiola - it was sad. They need to get a real recipe for that. read more

Wait was not bad. You have to order well ahead if you are ordering on the weekend in the summer. If not, that's why some reviews say 2+ hour wait. There's so many people in shore towns on the weekends so you're going to wait. I had the penne vodka 5 stars. Garlic knots - 5 stars. They tomato sauce is VERY good! Only thing I was disappointed with was the Greek Salad - a lot of iceberg lettuce, white onions, 1 grape tomato, 1 cucumber, enough feta and NO olives. Meh for $9.00. We've been getting takeout from Mia's for years. Standard order is usually their eggplant parm dinner and chicken parm dinner with side salad of salad. Both are excellent as are the homemade pizza dough rolls. We consistently get 2 meals out of each entree. We will continue being regular customers. read more

Big family gathering so we made a big order online for takeout. Starting with the pizzas: Mia's special pizza, basically "all in" on the meats, a regular cheese pizza and a margherita pizza. This is where Mia's shines. The crust on the pizzas is perfect. The toppings tasty and flavorful. The fresh mozz on the margherita was fantastic! Sides: antipasto salad was ok. Could have used more pepperoncini and I would have liked to see a bunch of capicola added as well. The Italian sausage was excellent, but swimming in tomato sauce. Same with the meatballs, which were a little dry. Prices were good. Service was solid except I had to wait about 10-15 mins longer than the estimated time they emailed me. Asking for my previous review to be removed. Just sat outside and waited over a half hour for a pie and fries. They totally forgot the whole order. Super disappointed. We went here last week 7/5. We called in an order to pick-up, we were told 45 minutes. We arrived around 50 minutes and the line was 30 people deep. Everyone was unruly and people were trying to cut the line. There was no organization or coordination. Pure Chaos!! By the time we finally got inside to claim our order it was now 110 minutes. When they checked, our order was only 1/2 ready. We decided to cancel the pizza and Stromboli because they said it would take 20 minutes more. What you need to order: Margherita pie w/the fresh mozz! First night down at the shore so we ordered some pies from Mia's. It was a Saturday night, so they were only doing takeout (not delivery). The order only took 40 minutes which was very impressive given the time/day of the week. The Margherita pie was definitely the star - everyone loved it! The sauce is sweet, which pairs well with the creaminess of the fresh mozzarella. The crust is super crispy (the slices don't flop), and you can taste the fresh basil. This is by far my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing! The pizza is very good and so is the Burger. Probably the best Burger I've ever had. The service is very good. They have one of the best waitress. I don't know her name but she is amazing and so nice. A couple weeks ago she drew turkey on our check. We go there so often that she knew our order. We ordered takeout for Mother's Day Eve and although I was on hold for 5 minutes and it took over an hour and 15 minutes to get to us, everything was great! Delivery driver was so apologetic, to be fair it was a monsoon outside, and she said a transformer blew down the street. It immediately wiped away any issues I thought I had. We got a Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm, Shrimp Parm and Chicken Franchese. Everyone loved their food and I can attest that the Franchese and Chicken Parm were both very good. The breadsticks that came with were really good too. Definitely our go to pizza spot when at the shore every summer weekend. Btw, if I heard correctly, this is the ORIGINAL Mia's. The owner of Little Mia's is a former employee who stole the recipes and opened up a competing restaurant down the street trying to make people think they are affiliated. They are NOT. I would actually rate this a 2 1/2. The food was okay but I thought the prices were good. The main issue was the wait. They sat us quickly then our drink orders were taken. Waited about 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive at which time we placed our orders. We waited almost an hour before the food came out. It was almost comical when we received our food bc the meals werebrought out separately not at the same time. There was approximately a 15 minute wait between the first plate to arrive and the last (which was just a slice of pizza).
