I made this account simply to offset some of the absurdly low ratings for this business. Is this a…read moregenuine 5 star review? No. From my experience I would honestly put it at a 4. I have been going to this clinic for the past 15 years and have never experienced anything remotely disconcerting in all that time. The most inconvenience I've experienced here is a long wait time on a very rare occasion either from the waiting room to the room where they see you, or between when the assistants talk to you and the optometrist seeing you. I would say even that through the course of 15 years has been only 15 minutes at most. My only other complaint I could have is in the past I have run into a reception who seemed Inexperienced and needed help from one of her coworkers, though this was a couple years ago. To expand on the recent contact appointment I had today. I walk in and am checked in immediately. I am sitting in the waiting room for less than 3 minutes before I am called back, led to a room, seated and asked simple questions. The assistant leaves and the optometrist is in in less than 5. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and He easily helps me through a problem I had recently been having with my contacts, leading to an updated prescription. I am checking out after maybe 30 minutes at most. I've made appointments anywhere from a year to a week in advance and every time I walk in I am almost always checked in quickly and accurately. The people who work with selling and fitting frames are especially pleasant, and amicable. They know me by name and greet me when I arrive even if I am not there to see them that day. I have no idea how this place has such bad reviews when I have never seen anything that warrants anything as extreme as one star. It saddens me to see an establishment I long worked with and trust have such a poor face online.

A few years ago, suddenly I had like a MILLION floaters in my right eye. I called Eye Health…read moreNorthwest and they got me in immediately. The examining doctor told me that I had a vitreous detachment, that would probably resolve on its own, but there was a slight chance of retinal detachment. The following week, I saw that telltale shadow over part of my vision and called them. They had me from general ophthalmology to specialist to procedure in less than four hours, and they saved my eye. I will be forever grateful to the retina specialist, Dr. Brian Chen Kai, in particular. I am inferring from the low average review that other people have had poor experiences here, but mine was stellar.

Destiny carefully selected frames based on our individual face shapes and must have pulled 20 or 30 different options for us to try. She had us comfortably seated the entire time and made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Her feedback was thoughtful and spot-on, helping us narrow down choices without ever making us feel rushed or pressured to buy. She is incredibly professional, patient, kind, and friendly, everything you could hope for in an optician. It's clear she's extremely knowledgeable and genuinely cares about her clients. We will absolutely be returning year after year. We've found the best optician in the Portland area, and we couldn't recommend Destiny at You and Eye more highly!

You and Eye is Top Notch, Hands Down One of the Best…read more I can not be more impressed with an Optometrist or Optician office!! In experiences with providers over multiple decades and many different states, You and Eye stands Head and Shoulders above almost everyone else! More affordable! When in-between providers, and I was shopping around, You and Eye was significantly better priced than several other Optician offices in the Willamette Valley. Customer care and service that has gone hundreds of miles past any reasonable expectations by a client! Staff: Experiences with every person connected with You & Eye, past and present has been memorable, impressive, and I am grateful to have worked with them. They have been far above 5 Star every time. Due to insurance I had to switch to a different local provider, it took nine (9) months that another opticians/optometrist to successfully fill a eyeglass prescription. Prescription eyewear had to keep being sent back, we had to have them call Destiny and Dr Pierce more than once, to hold their hand walk them through how to make suitable prescription glasses that would work for a patient like myself. I truly cannot rave enough about everyone in this office and their amazing business practices, professionalism, pricing, and high-end service. I will violently accost people on the street who I hear pondering their next Optometrist needs and point and rant that there is really only one place 'You and Eye' will get the best quality eyecare & eyewear in The Greater Portland Area. Go there now. You deserve it, Your eyes deserve it, and so do your friends and family, cause you are a good person and only want the best for them. P.s. I am very, very impressed with everything about this office. P.p.s. I am not easy to impress. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

When the receptionist brought it up, I asked if it cost extra; she said yes, and then told her I wasn't interested. You'd think it would end there. After Dr. Breeden finished the main portion of the exam, she made it a point to get up, close the door, and lecture me about the importance of dilation, imploring scare tactics, and comparing it to having vitals checked. This was just insulting. It's my health, and it's my money, and I have the right to opt out. I'd like to think that professionals could take a hint that money is clearly an issue for me without me having to say HEY, I'M FUCKING BROKE, I'M JUST HERE TO GET A PRESCRIPTION SO I CAN BUY CONTACT LENSES. The icing on the cake was not being given (or emailed) my new prescription at the end of the visit. After I emailed them asking for it, there was another little passive aggressive cherry on top -- part of my prescription was left blank, and I had to dig up my old prescription to find the number (the BC, or base curve, which is either 8.4 or 8.8 when ordering contacts online). So thanks, ladies! Very professional.
