Rather unpleasant experience...receptionist was patient, friendly, and helpful, but twice I was pressured to pay pay extra for dilation. When the receptionist brought it up, I asked if it cost extra; she said yes, and then told her I wasn't interested. You'd think it would end there. After Dr. Breeden finished the main portion of the exam, she made it a point to get up, close the door, and lecture me about the importance of dilation, imploring scare tactics, and comparing it to having vitals checked. This was just insulting. It's my health, and it's my money, and I have the right to opt out. I'd like to think that professionals could take a hint that money is clearly an issue for me without me having to say HEY, I'M FUCKING BROKE, I'M JUST HERE TO GET A PRESCRIPTION SO I CAN BUY CONTACT LENSES. The icing on the cake was not being given (or emailed) my new prescription at the end of the visit. After I emailed them asking for it, there was another little passive aggressive cherry on top -- part of my prescription was left blank, and I had to dig up my old prescription to find the number (the BC, or base curve, which is either 8.4 or 8.8 when ordering contacts online). I really like my eye doc here, but every interaction I've had with the office staff leaves me feeling more..confused? Frustrated? They sent me home with the wrong frames, called me over a month later with no info at all and then didn't return my calls about picking up the new ones. I finally went back in to get new lenses in my old frames and had hoped that maybe they would refund the wrong color frames that they botched, or something for all of this and she basically just said well we will re sell the frames which still leaves me with having paid for the wrong color frames I didn't order but they gave me. When I was trying to choose the frames in the first place back in Jan she was all up in my business and 6 inches from me at all times, I felt rushed by her and ultimately chose a pair I hate - and then didn't even get the right color anyway. On top of all of this, when I called to make my initial apt in Jan, apparently there is another person by my first and last name in their system. They pulled hers up first, and rather than verify my DOB, address, phone, she made it through the other girls insurance, doctor, last visit, and more with all personal info that wasn't mine before I realized she had the wrong EA. I'm not sure if any of it was a HIPPA violation, but concerning nonetheless. I'm trying to decide if it's worth sticking with the doctor I like and putting up with the lack of customer service. read more

It's my second appointment here and I only have good things to say. Michelle and Rachel were very friendly and willing to answer all my questions. I have finally gotten my glasses adjusted and got set up with new lenses. They look into your insurance and make sure you're aware of all the costs! First off the appointment I had last year was great. I loved the eye doctor. I was bummed they didn't have more glasses options because I had to buy my glasses elsewhere. However, This office will harass you to the ends of the earth to create future appointments for you. In the past month I've gotten 3 phone calls, two of which were this week wanting to schedule appointment and a postcard in which they had preset up an appointment for me that I did not authorize, which of course I did not go to because I was in the middle of moving so I would have never agreed to it. Then they had the nerve to call and leave another voicemail that I had a preset appointment for next week!!!!!! I have moved out of the area and been busy. It sucks that I have to waste time calling them to get them to stop harassing me. I had considered driving out to Clackamas because I enjoyed my pervious visit but with how aggressive they have been there is no way I'm going back because I don't have time to be harassed repeatedly. read more

I came here because I needed new glasses.. well they charged me like over $100 for a quick eye exam.. then my glasses cost around 600.. i got these in October of 2019 .only been almost 7 months.. when i bought them i was told that they would replace if anything happened to them that the coverage would cover them out. I woulda paid maybe like 100 less or more if i hadnt gotten a "two year" coverage.. my glasses were also suppose to be scratch resistant. These glasses are super thin ..well they broke .. i tried to get them replaced and they said theyr not covered if broken only scratched or normal wear and tear.. they also quoted me $300 for the broken parts. Let me add that this whole time ive been dealing with a wrong prescription the doc couldnt even get my eyesight right.. i thought over time i would adjust but nope still see blurry and from far away its not clear at all. I PAID 600 for NOTHING. After I sent them an email they never reached back after of course quoting me 300. Im done read more

Stay away. Just don't go in. Save yourself! The outside appearance given is wonderful, however it is anything but that! I did not get my eye exam done here. I did try to get my prescription fill at this terrible place. The story is long and has lasted since April 27, 2019 and looks as if it will be ongoing. Day 1, picked out a beautiful pair of frames. Then Amy took, not exaggerating, maybe 3 seconds to hand measure me. I asked her to do it again as I was looking down. She didn't take any longer and said it was fine. Ok then, right. Took over 3 weeks to receive my glasses. When I put the glasses on they were not right. I could not see out of them. This was not a new perscripstion. I told Amy I could not see and I needed them adjusted. She said they don't do refunds. All I asked was for them to be adjusted and she shoved me out the door saying give them a few weeks. I came in the following Saturday to let her know they weren't working. She ignored me and went to another customer. Finally she made an adjustment to the frame. Didn't work. Finally agreed to have lab adjust where the progressive's were. Another 3 1/2 weeks later, glasses in. Still not right. I asked for help from the other lady. We went over the perscription and Wow Amy entered the perscription in incorrectly and blamed the lab. LOL. Anyways, after sever more weeks of this back and forth tried to get a refund and they will not refund. Terrible! Don't go in! read more

We were slightly heartbroken when our last eye doctor retired and sold his practice. I found this place via Yelp with its amazing reviews and let me tell you, it lives up to its 5 stars. I took my daughter in to see Dr Provost who was amazing with her and very thorough. We knew it was going to be time for a new prescription, and it's easiest for us to pick out glasses at our providers office and they had a decent selection for her to choose from. The lady that helped her was very sweet and very patient and helped her pick out frames that she liked. I'm thrilled with this office and will definitely be scheduling the rest of my family here. read more

I then had my exam with Dr. Provost and he was great. He is very well spoken and personable which put me at ease. He took the time to explain things to me in-depth and truly listened to my questions. I took my daughter here after her pediatrician refered up to have her eyes further checked. Turns out, she was in need of glasses... and we were able to get her taken care of due to the amazingly friendly staff here. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable and they were very informative and compassionate to myself and my daughter throughout the whole process. Heather at the front desk was extremely welcoming and sweet. My daughter took to her instantly and by the end of the visit was excited to get glasses. These people have definitely earned their perfect yelp score. Everyone is incredibly friendly and inviting. From setting up the appointment to the actual exam, it's very professional and yet totally un-snooty. I moved to the east side somewhat recently and needed a new eye care place and I will definitely be calling this one my go to! Since I've never bought a pair of glasses from this company, why am I giving them a five-star review? Because they have the most awesome customer service, and policies! I've been here twice, both times to repair glasses I bought in Chicago, prior to moving to Portland. The first time, one of the nose rests had broken off a pair of glasses, maybe in 2015. Their location was/is very convenient, so I stopped in, and they immediately repaired the nose rest at no charge! That is amazing, since I had never spent a dime with them. The second visit, just a week ago, was to get my glasses functional after I sat on them. Yes, I'm an idiot. First, the customer service agent who initially helped me was welcoming and friendly. Then, I got a phone call from the technician who was informing me that since the glasses were not under warranty, they couldn't guarantee success; I gave them a green light, with respect for their excellent communication. Finally, I picked up my glasses, and the customer service agent was determined to make sure that my rehabbed glasses fit perfectly. Again, they didn't charge me a penny! I am in awe of these people, and am hopeful that they will accept my insurance when I want/need to buy new glasses. I'm impressed that they have a 100% five star review record! We LOVE River City!! My 13 year old has been in glasses since he was 6, and our 7 year old has had his for a year now. We've seen several doctors at various offices around PDX, and I think we've finally found a keeper. Dr. Breeden is fantastic, and we've had fantastic luck with the staff being friendly, professional, and patient - hey, learning how to put contacts in is hard! I was immediately impressed w/ the aesthetics of the place as a new customer n, just as important, I was immediately served w/ no waiting ...they are well staffed for customer service. "State of the art" technology, as well as, a very smart n efficient doctor also impressed me. I can't say enough great things about my experience at River City Eyecare! I've been a couple different times (to both their Clackamas and Hollywood District (Portland) locations). Their Clackamas location is newly renovated, modern and has all new equipment. The Hollywood location is a super chic boutique-style spot. Both clinics have a stellar selection of frames. Dr. Provost was my doctor both times I've been seen at the clinic; he was nothing but caring and professional. He had a great sense of humor to boot! Overall the staff was super friendly and helpful. The opticians have a great sense of style and are wonderful about helping you find the best frames for the look you want. I walked away with two frames - couldn't resist! Visited River City for a medical eye problem because they were close and had flexibility in their scheduling for if I needed to be seen quickly. The staff was professional and the doctor awesome. I will never go here again!! I had my appointment and afterwards paid for the appointment and contacts, asked if there was anything else (because I was on a tight budget) they said no. Contact were never sent to my house and I received a call three weeks later saying I owed $50 more! They never told me about this extra $50 when I was there three weeks before. They with held my contacts I already paid for until I paid them more. Over expensive, money hungry, and unorganized place! I will never be back. read more
